Is it wrong for heroes to kill?
Recalling just how annoying those Federation bastards were in the original novel, Ethan wondered if he should take the opportunity to kill them all now that they weren’t expecting it.
After all, they, along with Arthur, were a major reason the original Imperion failed to take over the world.
"No, no, I can’t do that, considering the diary I found earlier, the original Imperion was anything but a meathead."
"If I can think of it, then I’m sure he can too; there’s probably a reason he didn’t do it."
"Before making any moves, I have to investigate carefully; I can’t afford to be careless."
Muttering to himself, his laser eyes slowly receded as he turned to the monster in front of him, using his datafication to scan him.
[Name: ability Aberrant]
Rank: S
Energy level: 3+ (unstable, rapidly approaching 4)
Innate ability: ability fusion
Fused ability: fire manipulation, ice manipulation, regeneration, polymorphism, lightning manipulation, flight, super strength, sonic waves...
Description: a monster made by a certain organization by using its innate ability to fuse many heroes and villains into one]
Reading the information in front of him, Ethan couldn’t help but frown.
Especially when he saw the rapidly increasing energy level, he knew he had to end things as soon as possible.
Taking a mental note of where the Federation spies were, he focused his full attention on the monster before him.
"Hey, ugly, do you really think that you’ve won? Or do you think I’d leave you just because you attacked the ground below?"
"Let me tell you something."
swoosh!
In a split second, his body suddenly disappeared, reappearing right behind the monster.
"Today, not only will you die, but all those behind you will understand what it means to anger me!"
Boom!
As he said that, his eyes once again turned red as a pair of red-hot lasers shot through his eyes, destroying three of the heads at the same time.
"Arghh! Impossible! How are you this strong!"
"At the lab, they told me you wouldn’t be my match!"
"Die for me, you damn hero!"
Struggling to regenerate the lost heads, the monster’s body suddenly glowed purple, as toxic mist began to emit from all over its body.
Toxic mist, which would have been able to instantly kill most lower-level heroes.
Unfortunately, the person he was dealing with was the opposite of that.
"Futile!"
Ignoring the mist, Ethan’s arm pierced through the fog directly through the monster’s chest.
"You know, I before I was planning on capturing and interrogating you to see how much information I could get."
"However, considering the fact you said you were told that you were stronger than me at the lab, then that just means one thing."
Boom!
Starting from the top to the bottom, with a loud explosion, Ethan used his laser eye beams to vaporize the monster completely, not giving it a chance to regenerate.
"It means. That you were nothing but a self-righteous fool they sent to participate in this little plan of theirs."
"However, considering they never asked me if I wanted to participate, I might as well charge some interest."
As he said this, killing the monster, his datafication ability at this moment lit up, as a strange string of words suddenly appeared.
[Detecting plunderable ability: ability fusion]
[Compatibility with the ability plunder is 100 percent, commencing plunder.]
Unfortunately, despite this shocking information being displayed in front of him, Ethan didn’t notice as his mind was currently wandering in space, and his emotions were currently unstable.
Still floating in the sky, Ethan looked at the ground below.
Smoke and despair filled the ground, as flames from the previous flame attacks scorched the earth.
With his super hearing, he could hear the wails and screams of civilians on the ground.
Even the kid he had promised everything would be alright, was now no more than a set of charred bones and flesh.
In a trance, Ethan remained still.
The people who had once praised his name had now died, thinking he would protect them.
And all because of some dumb conspiracy.
Thinking of this, his anger began to rise.
"Damn it!"
"It’s just like it said, even if I killed him, but I still lost in the end."
"Damn! Damn! Why the hell did that kid have to die!"
Feeling the sorrow all around him, the joy of having superpowers had disappeared as fast as they had appeared.
What replaced them was this feeling of helplessness, of not being able to change anything.
Because of this, his hatred towards the Federation behind this had reached its peak.
If nothing else, more deaths were currently ongoing all around the city as they carried out their plans regardless of the lives and deaths of those involved.
"Tch.. So much for the protectors of humanity."
"Perhaps Imperion was right. I can’t leave people like this in charge of humanity."
Narrowing his eyes, Ethan focused on where the spy from before was.
"Just as expected, he’s still alive!"
Boom!
Making a decision, with a sonic boom, his figure instantly vanished as he flew through the air towards the spy’s direction.
...
[New Geneva, Sector A]
While the battle in the sky had just been concluded, in an abandoned building, unharmed by the nearby destruction, a masked man lay hidden with a camera in one hand.
Pressing his other hand on his ear, he seemed to be in communication with someone.
"Yes, director! I have successfully recorded everything!"
"As soon as this video leaks, everyone will see how the so-called world’s greatest hero chose to abandon everyone."
"How he willingly let those fireballs fall, destroying the people he was meant to protect!"
Hearing this, the director on the other end seemed pleased.
"Alright, good, be sure to leave there as soon as possible, and make sure not to get caught!" Saying this, he hung up.
"Haha, once I deliver this video! They’re sure to promote me at the headquarters! I can’t wait!"
Just as the spy was about to leave, he suddenly felt a brush of cold wind sweep against his face.
"Wait! Why is there wind here? With my abilities, all sounds and forces should be silent here!"
"Unless.."
Suddenly, the spy felt a chill run down his spine.
And as if to confirm his thoughts, a big palm suddenly lay on his shoulder.
"Haha, why are you shivering, young man?"
"Tell me, are you scared?"
Hearing this signature laugh, the spy knew he was in big trouble.
