Ming Shu sighed with sudden enlightenment, “The entertainment industry is so hard to navigate.”
Lu Shiyu grunted softly, continuing to bury his face in her neck and collarbone, inhaling deeply and nuzzling against her skin.
His wife was so fragrant and soft.
“Lu Shiyu, I want to interview you—how did you achieve your current success?”
“Just lucky.”
He couldn’t fully relate to Ming Shu’s sigh, because from his very first year debuting on the runway and shooting magazines, he had skyrocketed to fame.
In his second year, he starred in a movie and won the Best Actor award.
By his third year, his box office earnings had surpassed ten billion, making him the uncrowned king of the entertainment industry. From then until now, he had always been bathed in starlight, never knowing the taste of failure.
All Lu Shiyu knew was that his wife smelled wonderful, and simply rubbing against her couldn’t ease the ache in his body.
Ming Shu was held tightly in the man’s arms, unable to move.
Beneath her was a black bedsheet, and Lu Shiyu had a particular fondness for black shirts. Ming Shu was like the creamy filling of an Oreo—sweet and soft, as if anyone could reach out and pinch her, teasing her a little.
Lu Shiyu held her with one hand supporting her bottom and the other cradling her head, carrying her toward the dining room.
He didn’t dare let her see the dark, desire-filled redness in his eyes—it would scare her.
Ming Shu’s uninjured leg dangled in the air, her head resting against his chest as she cooed sweetly and playfully, “You’re the luckiest of the lucky. Can I share some of your good fortune?”
Lu Shiyu chuckled, his voice low and husky, “Of course, I’d be more than happy to.”
“Were you discussing work with your manager earlier?”
Instead of letting Ming Shu sit alone on a chair, he held her in his arms, letting her sit on his lap.
Ming Shu squirmed uncomfortably, trying to move to the chair beside her.
But Lu Shiyu said that before she lost her memory, she used to love sitting like this. His deep, affectionate phoenix eyes visibly dimmed when he saw her struggling, like a big, abandoned puppy.
Ming Shu immediately froze. Even though she had lost her memory, she remembered everyone except Lu Shiyu, which was already unfair to him. If she refused to be intimate with him now, that would be too cruel—wasn’t that forcing him into a widower-like existence?
The consequence of her compromise was…
After feeding her a few sips of milk, Lu Shiyu peeled an egg and continued to feed the little sweetheart in his arms.
Ming Shu’s mouth was kept busy—drinking this, eating that. Her idle hands secretly played with the buttons on Lu Shiyu’s shirt or tugged at her slightly short nightgown.
Finally finding a moment to speak, she immediately said, “Li Xiaole called me earlier. Two production crews want to work with me, saying I have a good image and my acting skills don’t matter. I told them I’d think about it carefully.”
Lu Shiyu asked, “Is there anything I can help with?”
Ming Shu looked at him, “I want to rely on myself.”
Lu Shiyu wiped her mouth, then leaned down to place a kiss on her soft lips. “Baby is so strong. You don’t need to rely on anyone to carve out your own path—I believe in your abilities. But we’re husband and wife. If you’re ever unsure, you can tell me, and I can help you think things through.”
Hearing this, the Ming Family Head was so happy she almost wagged her tail. Though she just swung her legs a couple of times, it wasn’t much different.
A profound smile lingered in Lu Shiyu’s eyes. She was such an easy-to-pamper little treasure—a bit delicate, perhaps, but utterly adorable. He wished he could hold and dote on her like this every day, never finding it a bother, for this was the love he had longed for.
Lu Shiyu had never proactively offered Ming Shu any resources, as he preferred her to stay at home, within his sight. He admitted his possessiveness was excessive, but he couldn’t help it. He feared she might face mistreatment outside or interact with other men—something he simply couldn’t bear.
Since their marriage, Ming Shu had never asked Lu Shiyu for anything either, so over the past three years, she had spent most of her time at home, much to Lu Shiyu’s satisfaction. Even now, Ming Shu had no intention of seeking his help—not because she thought it would make her appear weak.
Well, perhaps it would indeed make her seem weak.
After finishing her meal, Ming Shu settled on the sofa with her tablet to review scripts.
Li Xiaole had good taste; both scripts were excellent. It was just a matter of choosing between them.
Should she endure Su Jin’er’s face in a big-budget TV drama?
Or put up with a temperamental, poorly skilled idol actor in a web series?
Ming Shu opened Weibo and searched for the idol actor’s name to check his acting skills and reputation.
[Ahhh! So handsome! Even ants passing by would marvel at his looks!]
[Just a casual viewer, but his stage presence is incredible!]
[Let’s protect the best brother! The future is bright; let’s walk the flower path together!]
[He smiled at me! I’m in his heart!]
…
Ming Shu held her phone a little farther away, squinting to admire the idol actor’s stage selfies.
His face wasn’t bad, but the makeup was too heavy to judge his true looks. Besides, this idol had no acting experience.
A video of the idol’s dance performance was still playing—his fingers elegantly flicking his collar, ending with a tilted head and a wink.
“What are you watching?”
A magnetic male voice sounded above Ming Shu’s head.
She immediately flipped her phone over, scratching her head awkwardly. “Nothing much, just scrolling through Weibo.”
Lu Shiyu leaned over, his hands resting on the sofa as he looked down at her. His clear, gentle phoenix eyes held a faint, teasing smile, exuding an overwhelming sense of pressure.
“Don’t be afraid; I’m not angry. There are so many men in the world—you could bump into eight or ten just by taking a stroll outside. How could I possibly stop your eyes from looking at them?”
Why did that sound a bit sarcastic?
Just as Ming Shu was about to explain, she caught a faint whiff of cigarette smoke on Lu Shiyu. She immediately pinched her nose and scooted away.
“Honey, did you smoke?”
“Mm… cough… not much, just one.”
The man covered his mouth with his strong, bony hand, coughing softly a few times. The corners of his peach-blossom eyes were tinged with a damp, sickly crimson.
Ming Shu leaned closer, sniffing him like a soft, adorable little bunny, and said worriedly, “Smoking is bad for your health, and secondhand smoke is even worse for your family. Honey… could you quit smoking?”
Lu Shiyu lowered his gaze, his handsome, cool face falling into silence.
Ming Shu felt a bit awkward. She probably couldn’t make decisions for Lu Shiyu.
Before losing her memory, perhaps her relationship with him hadn’t been that deep.
Lu Shiyu: “Alright, will you supervise me?”
Ming Shu looked up at him in surprise, then slowly nodded. “Mm! I’ll supervise you.”
Never make promises lightly, or you’ll…
Study.
Ming Shu leaned against Lu Shiyu’s chest, sitting on his lap as the two of them watched a movie together.
A very old and classic film, which Ming Shu had watched several times before. Watching it again now, by the time the end credits rolled, she was already drowsy, ready to meet Zhuang Zhou in her dreams.
Lu Shiyu wrapped his arms around her waist, holding her face-to-face, and without any warning, kissed her lips. He nibbled gently on the soft flesh of her lips, savoring a sweet, fragrant kiss.
Ming Shu’s face flushed red, a little dazed, like a little rabbit left dizzy from the kiss.
Was kissing part of the post-movie routine?
So sudden?
No need for a heads-up between an old married couple?
Lu Shiyu rested his forehead against hers, his gaze gentle and smiling, his voice hoarse as he murmured, “Sorry, baby. I wanted a cigarette, but I promised you I’d quit, so I had to kiss you instead.”
After hearing his explanation, Ming Shu’s puffed-up cheeks deflated instantly.
“Then… then don’t kiss so hard. I feel like my lips are going to swell.”
“They’re not swollen. Your husband knows his limits.”
Lu Shiyu didn’t let her go. Instead, he started reading documents.
On the surface, he was an A-list actor in the entertainment industry, but behind the scenes, he was the heir to the Lu Group.
He had little interest in inheriting the family business, which was why he had entered the entertainment world to escape the noise. But who would have thought he’d meet Ming Shu? She was so wonderful, and many people wanted her. If he wasn’t strong enough, how could he protect her?
Ming Shu disliked being restrained—a gilded cage wasn’t for her. But if his power was great enough, his influence strong enough, no matter where she went, she would remain within his control.
Though he preferred having Ming Shu by his side at all times, that wasn’t realistic. If she hadn’t sprained her ankle, if he hadn’t deliberately smoked, she definitely wouldn’t be staying obediently in his arms.
Lu Shiyu didn’t actually like smoking. It was just a little trick by a big, possessive dog who wanted his wife all to himself.
Ming Shu tilted her head and leaned against Lu Shiyu’s shoulder, her soft, boneless body completely draped over him. At first, she felt a bit shy and restrained, but after spacing out for a while, she started playing on her phone.
Even though it was just a game played with a few taps of her fingers, she put her whole body into it, swaying left and right in Lu Shiyu’s embrace. The man held her waist firmly, not letting her move around too much.
Such a slender, soft waist—he could cover it completely with just one hand. Mmm… his wife smelled so good. He didn’t know if this was a punishment or a reward, but he wouldn’t let go. He loved this kind of sweet punishment.
After playing a few rounds of the game, Ming Shu grew sleepy. She leaned against his broad, warm chest, dozing off, her fluffy head occasionally nuzzling against him, even rubbing open the buttons of his black shirt to reveal his sexy collarbone and chest muscles.
Lu Shiyu set down his pen, gently lifted her chin, and the two shared another sweet kiss.
Ming Shu drowsily tried to open her eyes but was gently coaxed back to sleep by him.
This repeated over and over—she lost count of how many times she was kissed.
Her soft, plump, rosy lips were nearly kissed raw.
Lu Shiyu gazed at the sunlight outside the window, a cold smile curling at the corners of his gloomy, weary eyes.
The taste of getting what he wanted was too sweet, too addictive.
She was really so obedient today.
…
By dinnertime, Ming Shu’s lips were still sore. She couldn’t eat anything spicy at all and had to stick to bland food.
She shot a resentful look at Lu Shiyu.
Making him quit smoking was really too hard on his wife!
