“A solution?”

Jiang Zhuo lowered his gaze, appearing to ponder.

However, the rejection of Cheng Sisi by Yu Company had originally been arranged by his assistant.Full novel: The Yandere Gentleman Gently Coaxes, The Sweet Baby Cannot Escape — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

How could he not have a solution!

Yet he still pretended to think for a while before raising his eyes to look at the two people opposite him.

“Our company still has a graphic design position. If you’re willing, you can come.”

These words were directed at Cheng Sisi, but even Jiang Xin nodded repeatedly upon hearing them.

“That’s right, how could I forget this!” she exclaimed excitedly, growing more enthusiastic as she spoke. “Sisi, you’re different from me. I’m the younger sister of the group’s CEO. If I go to work at the company, everyone will definitely flatter and curry favor with me. I won’t have any real room for growth, which is why I don’t want to go. But you’re different—you won’t have such concerns.”

Yet facing Jiang Xin’s encouraging gaze, Cheng Sisi couldn’t feel happy.

Of course, she had thought that if she could work at the Jiang Group, it would be best, because she knew Jiang Si would eventually join the company in the future, and she wanted to be closer to him.

But she also knew that getting into the Jiang Group was far too difficult.

As a fresh-faced young girl just starting out, she didn’t even need to think about it. If she really entered the company this way, she wouldn’t be able to hold her head up high, and it would also bring unnecessary criticism to Jiang Zhuo.

In the end, she chose to refuse.

Jiang Zhuo didn’t force her, nor did he feel regret. Instead, the faint, elusive smile at the corner of his lips revealed his confidence in victory, as if he had already anticipated the final outcome.

Since she was unwilling, Jiang Xin couldn’t force her either.

After breakfast, Jiang Zhuo still drove Jiang Xin to work, while Cheng Sisi continued her job search and interviews.

The car stopped by the roadside, and Cheng Sisi got out, walking around to the front of the car to wave goodbye to him.

“Thank you, Brother Jiang Zhuo, for driving me here!”

Jiang Zhuo smiled at her. Every time he smiled, it gave people a feeling of warmth, like a spring breeze.

His smile appeared sincere as he left her with a word, “Good luck!”

But how much of this was insincere, only he himself likely knew.

And Cheng Sisi, in front of him, was like a harmless rabbit, understanding nothing, even foolishly expressing her gratitude to him.

“Thank you, Brother Jiang Zhuo. I’ll work hard!”

“Mhm, waiting for your good news.”

Then, she turned around with full confidence.

The smile on Jiang Zhuo’s face instantly darkened at that moment. He raised his elbow to rest on the car window ledge, his thumb gently rubbing back and forth over his lower lip. Behind his gold-rimmed glasses, his eyes were filled with playful amusement.

“Cheng Sisi, if you can find a job, I’ll lose!”

He chuckled softly, slowly withdrawing his gaze, then closing the car window and starting the car.

Today, Jiang Zhuo returned home relatively late due to a company meeting.

As soon as he entered, the sound of Jiang Xin comforting Cheng Sisi came from the living room.

“Don’t be afraid. At worst, you can go work at my brother’s company. Don’t worry, my brother won’t make empty promises. Since he personally offered, it means you can definitely get into the Jiang Group.”

In response, all that could be heard were Cheng Sisi’s sobs.

“Sisi, stop crying. Your crying is making me feel terrible too.”

“…”

Jiang Zhuo silently changed his shoes and walked in. Upon seeing him, Jiang Xin immediately stood up excitedly and rushed toward him.

“Brother, does what you said this morning about letting Sisi join our company still count?”

Jiang Zhuo glanced at Cheng Sisi and replied affirmatively, “Of course!”

Satisfied with the answer, Jiang Xin ran back to Cheng Sisi. “See, I told you my brother wouldn’t lie. What’s the big deal? Can any of those companies you interviewed with compare to our Jiang Group? They lack vision, Sisi, don’t take it to heart.”

But Cheng Sisi continued to sob, wiping away tears once more.

“Yet, being rejected by five companies at once… Could it really be all their fault? Maybe I’m just not good enough?”

“There’s no need for self-pity!” Jiang Zhuo spoke up before Jiang Xin could respond.

“When I dropped you off for the interviews yesterday, I happened to see your design drafts. I could tell you have talent. That’s why I suggested this morning that you consider Jiang Group. Sometimes, talent outweighs experience.”

“I’m not foolish enough to hire someone with no work experience and mediocre skills.”

He meant every word.

Yesterday, he had indeed unintentionally seen Cheng Sisi’s design drafts. For a recent graduate, creating work of that caliber truly required innate talent.

Jiang Xin had studied the same design major, but her aptitude paled in comparison to Cheng Sisi’s.

Logically, someone like Cheng Sisi should be highly sought after.

But hadn’t he used the influence of Jiang Group to manipulate things behind the scenes?

“R-really?”

Cheng Sisi hadn’t expected praise from Jiang Zhuo, and her tears immediately stopped.

Jiang Zhuo nodded and continued, “Send your design drafts to our company’s design department head later. I’ll speak with her.”

“Great!”

Jiang Xin clapped excitedly, looking even happier than Cheng Sisi.

And Cheng Sisi knew that refusing now would seem ungrateful.

Just as she was about to express her gratitude, Jiang Xin’s phone on the coffee table suddenly rang. It was a call from Jiang Si, but the voice on the other end wasn’t his.

“What? A car accident?!”

“I understand, I’ll head over right away!”

After hanging up, Jiang Xin’s face had turned pale.

“Brother, Jiang Si was in a car accident. He’s been taken to the operating room for emergency surgery. His friend called using his phone.”

Hearing this, Jiang Zhuo immediately turned and headed for the door.

“Wait for me!” Jiang Xin, on the verge of tears, hurried after him.

Cheng Sisi also panicked, trembling as she tried to follow, but Jiang Zhuo stopped her. “Stay here. We don’t know Jiang Si’s exact condition yet. If it’s serious, we might have to stay at the hospital overnight.”

“Right!” Jiang Xin agreed. “We’re his family, so we should be at the hospital, but we can’t have you staying up with us for no reason. Don’t worry, I’ll update you as soon as we know anything.”

“But… but I…”

Before Cheng Sisi could finish her sentence, Jiang Zhuo and Jiang Xin had already put on their shoes and left, closing the door behind them.

Trapped inside, she felt anxious and helpless.

She wanted to go too. She was worried about Jiang Si and willing to stay at the hospital for him.

Why wouldn’t they let her?

But she knew Jiang Zhuo and Jiang Xin were also frantic, and she didn’t want to add to their burden.

Outside, a car engine started and gradually faded into the distance. All she could do was stay there, silently praying that Jiang Si would be alright and waiting for Jiang Xin’s update.

But after waiting for several hours, until late into the night and into the early morning, she still hadn’t received any news from the hospital.

She didn’t dare to call rashly, so she could only toss and turn in bed, unable to sleep.

Suddenly, a green light flashed past the window.

She immediately sat up in bed. At first, she was only curious and didn’t think much of it. And that light had only flashed once before disappearing completely.

She thought she must have imagined it.

So, she lay back down.

But just as she lay down, she heard a “thump, thump, thump” knocking at the door.

The sound was neither hurried nor slow, occurring every two seconds—an eerie, deliberate rhythm.

Almost instantly, every hair on Cheng Sisi’s body stood on end.
