Quan Yuchen gave a faint “mm,” placed his palm lightly on the boy’s head, and turned away, leaving only his departing figure behind.
Nan Xiyan had not managed to speak to Quan Yuchen. After closing the door, she vented her anger on Nan Shi Yi, glaring at him sharply.
“Were you trying to complain to Yuchen just now? You really think you can rebel against me? Go and do your homework properly.”
Nan Shi Yi rolled his eyes inwardly and walked to the study desk, flipping open Quan Zi Ting’s past exercise book.
It gave him a headache. The problems were so difficult—he had never learned them before. How did the Second Child even solve these?
Seeing that he was behaving and not causing trouble, Nan Xiyan lost interest in watching him and slumped aside, scrolling on her phone.
After a while, she got up and left the room.
A servant walked in carrying a tray of snacks.
“Young Master, studying is hard work. Have something to replenish your brain.”
Nan Shi Yi lifted his eyelids and looked at her, pursing his lips slightly.
“Why do I feel like you’re insulting me?”
“How would I dare! Young Master, your intelligence is far above ours. These problems—you probably think they’re simple. We can’t even understand them.”
The servant flattered him while glancing at the exercise book—then froze instantly.
On the supposedly serious test papers, Nan Shi Yi had drawn cartoons all over them.
A villainous woman with a pig-like swollen face was being tricked and bullied by three little figures, jumping in rage in frustration.
Nan Shi Yi did not care at all and asked calmly,
“Can you understand it?”
“Uh this…”
He glanced at the tray of fruit, nuts, and soy milk and sighed inwardly. As expected, the Second Child really was his brother—even their tastes were the same.
On the other side was a cup of latte art coffee.
“I like coffee mixed with soy milk.”
That was his strange habit.
“No, no! That’s for Miss Nan. She has a slight soy milk allergy—it cannot be mixed!”
Under the servant’s horrified gaze, Nan Shi Yi poured the coffee into the soy milk and smiled brightly up at him.
“Where is the coffee room? Mommy has worked hard today. I want to personally make her a cup of coffee.”
The servant looked troubled, but not wanting to refuse the Young Master’s filial intention, he agreed.
The coffee room was on the first floor. Nan Shi Yi did not let the servant follow and went in alone. His coffee skills were actually quite good, and even his latte art had been praised by professionals before.
Soon, two cups of coffee were perfectly made under his hands.
“Hmph! That bad woman must have bullied Second Child a lot. Today I’ll avenge him and show her who’s boss!”
Soon after, Nan Xiyan returned. Nan Shi Yi quickly hid the exercise book and pretended to count on his fingers seriously.
She picked up the coffee cup on the table and noticed his gaze.
“What are you looking at? Go do your homework.”
Nan Xiyan took a sip, frowned, and asked,
“What kind of coffee is this? It tastes so strange.”
She shouted toward the door, “Wu Ming! Get in here!”
“Mommy, this is a brand-new coffee I made myself! Even the latte art was done by me. Amazing, right?”
Nan Shi Yi looked at her with sparkling eyes, a sly smile on his face, clearly waiting for praise.
Nan Xiyan looked suspicious. How could a child possibly make such beautiful latte art?
Curious, she took a few more sips. She could vaguely feel a strange flavor, but could not identify it.
“Mommy, do you like the taste of this coffee? Cat poop coffee mixed with soy milk tastes great, right?”
“What?!”
Nan Xiyan’s eyes turned ferocious. She smashed the cup onto the ground, her fingers trembling as she pointed at Nan Shi Yi.
The latter rested his chin on his hand, happily staring back at her, looking completely innocent and cute.
“Ugh!”
Nan Xiyan felt physically nauseated, but nothing came out. The allergen reaction hit quickly—itchy red rashes began spreading across her body.
She instinctively tried to scratch her face and neck, but could no longer suppress her rage and let out a piercing scream.
“Ah!!”
Wu Ming and the group of servants rushed in upon hearing the noise. What they saw was a swollen, distorted face, causing them to widen their eyes in shock, wanting to laugh but not daring to.
“Are you all blind? What are you standing there for? Hurry and call Yuchen!”
