Seeing the two foreigners lose their temper, Factory Director Ji and the others were sweating nervously, afraid of causing an international incident that might affect relations between the two countries.

However, seeing that Wen Xi showed no fear at all—and even wore a faint smile—Director Ji held back from speaking.

Although the girl in front of him was plump, her deep, clear eyes were like stars in the night sky, shining with a bright, confident light.Full novel: Three Years of a Fake Marriage? I Took Everything and Married Your Boss! — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Strangely convincing.

Since the director did not speak, the others naturally stayed silent as well. All eyes were focused on Wen Xi.

Wen Xi raised her eyebrows slightly.

“Since you claim you can fix it, then let’s go see the machine right now. If you don’t go, that proves you can’t do it. If you want more money, you need to show us real ability.”

Her voice was firm and powerful, each word striking like a heavy hammer against Jack and John’s hearts.

She stood up slightly, chin raised, her gaze sharp enough to see through people. Her aura was no weaker than the tall and strong foreigners.

Provocation worked very well.

Self-proclaimed superior white men could not tolerate being humiliated by Chinese people—especially not by a fat and “ugly” woman.

Feeling deeply insulted, the two immediately agreed.

“Fine! Let’s go now. We’ll show you whether we can fix it or not!”

“You will regret what you said!”

A group of people headed toward the workshop.

Passing other workshops of the factory, they could hear the roaring of functioning machines. Only the workshop holding the imported equipment was silent.

Inside, the large and expensive machine lay there like a wounded beast.

Since it had stopped working, it produced no value, and the workers responsible for it looked as lifeless as if their energy had been drained away.

They had been so happy when it first arrived—now they were so disappointed.

Being choked by foreign advanced technology was an extremely frustrating feeling.

John and Jack circled the machine and inspected it. They found a gear inside had jammed—likely shifted due to vibration during use. It just needed recalibration.

A problem so simple it hardly counted as a problem. No parts needed replacing at all.

However, they could easily claim a part was broken and force the Chinese side to buy it, earning extra profit.

The two exchanged a knowing smile, greed flashing in their eyes as if they had found easy prey.

While they inspected the machine, Wen Xi also observed closely.

As a mechanical engineer from the modern era, she had handled far more complex equipment than this. How could she possibly miss such a simple issue?

Before even seeing the machine, she was already 80% confident.

Now, she was 100% certain it could be fixed.

“How is it, gentlemen? Can you repair it?” someone asked.

Jack cleared his throat and smiled confidently.

“Only we can fix it. Just replace the broken part.”

“Yes, a part needs replacing,” John echoed. “The price is 100,000 US dollars. Luckily, we brought it with us. As long as you pay, we can repair it immediately.”

Wen Xi almost laughed at their shameless greed.

She stepped forward, her sharp gaze sweeping between them.

“Heh. Are you sure the part is broken? If it’s not broken and you’re deliberately asking for more money, what then?”

Her eyes were cold and oppressive, like two blades forged in ice, piercing straight into people’s hearts, as if she could expose all lies.

For a brief moment, Jack and John felt a flicker of panic—but they quickly regained composure.

This Chinese woman must be bluffing!

“Yes, we are experts in this field!” John said loudly. “If you don’t trust us, who will you trust? Just because you speak English doesn’t mean you can fix machines.”

“John, are you kidding? How could a Chinese woman know how to repair this? She probably has never even seen such advanced equipment before.”

Jack looked at Wen Xi with disdain.

“If you can fix it, we’ll immediately fly back home and not take a single cent from you!”

To them, this was impossible.

The others could not understand their conversation, but from the expressions they could tell the discussion was tense.

This was exactly what Wen Xi was waiting for.

“Fine! Let’s do it your way. I’ll fix it. I hope you keep your word—if I fix it, you leave immediately without taking a cent. Do you agree?”

Jack and John burst out laughing, as if they had heard the funniest joke in the world.

“Let’s make a bet then. If you can’t fix it, you agree to our conditions. If you can, we leave without taking a cent.”

“Deal,” Wen Xi said immediately. “But words are not enough. We sign a written agreement.”

To prevent these shameless people from going back on their word.

She had Director Ji prepare a contract and briefly translated the terms for everyone.

Director Ji trusted that Wen Xi would not lie, but letting her actually repair the machine still made him uneasy. What if she couldn’t do it?

However, there was no better option.

“Alright. We agree. I’ll have someone draft the agreement.”

After both copies were written, Jack and John signed after reading. Wen Xi also insisted they stamp and fingerprint it.

Then she called a few workers to assist her and, under everyone’s gaze, quickly dismantled the machine casing.

Her fingers moved skillfully, adjusting the gears and tightening loose screws, completely focused—even getting machine oil on her hands without caring.

Her movements were so smooth, tools flying in her hands.

Director Ji and the others were stunned, then filled with excitement.

This was a sure win!

They would save a huge amount of foreign exchange repair costs!

Seeing this, Jack and John looked as if struck by lightning.

Their faces darkened completely, like they had been smeared with oil. Shock in their eyes surged like a violent storm, as if the world was about to be overturned.

Although this was an outdated second-hand machine from their country, it was still far more advanced than anything China had at the time.

How was this possible?

How could this Chinese woman know how to fix it?

“No… impossible!”

John screamed out of control, rushing forward to stop her—but was held back.

After fixing the loose gear and checking the rest of the machine, Wen Xi reassembled everything.

Then she walked to the control panel, powered it on, and pressed the start button.

The moment electricity connected, the machine roared to life.

After half a year of silence, the machine resumed operation.

“Director Ji, you can start production and check whether the output meets standards.”
