Student Council
The dishes covered the table. The plates were quite large, but the portions inside were just enough for them to eat their fill.
Those unfamiliar ingredients were prepared in dazzlingly intricate ways. The service staff softly announced each dish’s name and explained the ingredients. Su Yuning listened half-understandingly, eating whatever she could reach.
Some were exceptionally delicious, while others were particularly unpalatable.
Some seemed overcooked, with a charred black exterior, while others were half-raw, still oozing blood inside.
Su Yuning ate with a pained expression.
After finishing the explanations, the service staff left, letting them enjoy their meal slowly. But within two minutes, the door was pushed open again.
This time, it wasn’t a service staff member who entered, but a stunningly curvaceous and charming beauty.
Su Yuning had seen her photo on the Student Council display board and had a deep impression of this voluptuous beauty, who was at least a D-cup.
“Quan Ling, it really is you. I heard someone used the discount coupons and came over to check. What, you brought someone along?”
Quan Ling put down her chopsticks and offered a polite smile: “After all, Senior gave me two discount coupons. How could I not appreciate Senior’s kindness? I’ve long wanted to try a five-star restaurant in City A.”
The Quan family in City L was indeed wealthy and influential locally, but in City A, they seemed somewhat less prominent.
So even though she didn’t get along with this senior, Quan Ling still behaved with grace and kindness. If not for hearing about their past conflicts beforehand, one might have thought they were good friends.
This senior was also at the Aristocratic Academy, a third-year student and the vice-chairperson of the Student Council. She was the daughter of a bank president, named Wan Shengping.
This restaurant was her mother’s business. She happened to be here today and heard that the two discount coupons she had given out were being used, so she took a moment to check.
Her gaze swept over Quan Ling, then fell on Su Yuning before disinterestedly shifting away. She said, “Is that so? Then Junior should eat more. Opportunities like this don’t come often.”
“Of course.”
After exchanging a few indifferent words, Wan Shengping’s phone rang. She answered the call and hurriedly left. Quan Ling watched her retreating figure thoughtfully.
“Lingling, what’s wrong?”
Facing Su Yuning’s puzzled inquiry, Quan Ling thought for a moment and said, “You should know our vice-chairperson too. Have you heard any gossip about her?”
Su Yuning thought for a moment and shook her head.
“It’s normal not to know. The posts were suppressed,” Quan Ling said with a slightly mocking smile. “She likes the Student Council chairperson, Wei Shengshi. But because the Wei Sheng family’s main influence is overseas and not entirely clean, they keep a low profile. Her family wants to establish connections with them, and she herself has feelings for Wei Shengshi. Wherever Wei Shengshi is, she’ll show up.
Look at the dress she’s wearing today—it’s the archival edition of the xx brand. Her jewelry is… from the last auction, worth nine figures.”
She mentioned a bunch of convoluted vintage brands that Su Yuning didn’t understand, but Su Yuning nodded like a chick pecking at rice, exclaiming in awe: “Nine figures…” She counted on her fingers—over a hundred million! She had never seen that much money even in games!
With Su Yuning’s enthusiastic response, Quan Ling continued in a low voice: “Dressed so elaborately and leaving in such a hurry… There haven’t been any major events in her family recently. Other than going to see Wei Shengshi, I can’t think of anything else.”
“Wei Sheng… is that the compound surname?”
“Yes. His mother is a local, but his father’s side is all foreigners, with their main influence overseas—that’s his stronghold. This man is dangerous, his family’s dealings aren’t clean… I can only say this much, Ningning, don’t get close to him.”
Su Yuning waved her hand, exaggerating, “Hey, when would I ever get the chance to meet someone of such high status!”
Quan Ling smiled briefly, then fell into thought. “Could Wei Shengshi have returned to the country?” She glanced at the oblivious Su Yuning and began to feel restless.
The Quan family was nothing here. The reason her family had sent her and her younger brother was in hopes they could build good relationships with these truly powerful and influential people.
Quan Ling understood this perfectly well. She had even carefully studied who to align with for her family’s benefit.
For example, Zuo Xingyan, Lu Ji, and Wei Shengshi… among others. She had planned to approach each of them. As long as she could establish a good relationship with any one of them, or even better, have the chance to marry one, the Quan family would rise to a higher level.
She and Wan Shengping were actually the same kind of people. So when their goals aligned, friction was inevitable.
“Ningning, you eat first. I’m going out for a moment. I’ll be right back.”
Su Yuning nodded, humming in agreement. She had sensed a bit of Quan Ling’s mood, but this wasn’t something she should delve into, so she pretended to know nothing and continued eating her own meal.
After eating and drinking her fill, she inevitably needed to use the restroom. After waiting a while without seeing Quan Ling return, she couldn’t hold it any longer and went out to find the bathroom herself.
The restaurant had gilded signs hanging halfway up the walls, making it easy to follow them to the restroom.
The bathroom was spacious and luxurious, with gleaming surfaces, a pleasant fragrance, and even the toilets were high-end, top-tier brands.
So extravagant.
Su Yuning clicked her tongue in amazement. After washing her hands, she headed back… Wait, which private room was theirs again?
When they arrived, they had been led by a staff member. She only remembered that the private room door was lavish, and the plaque hanging outside didn’t have a number but a line of classical poetry—something quite elegant, but she hadn’t memorized it.
After wandering aimlessly for a few steps, one of the ever-present staff members quickly noticed her and softly asked if she needed assistance.
Su Yuning nodded repeatedly. “Yes, yes.”
The staff member helped her look up the private room, and Su Yuning waited nearby. Just then, a group of people approached from the opposite direction.
A crowd of bodyguards in black suits and sunglasses cleared the way in front and guarded the rear, filling the entire corridor. In the middle, three people were surrounded and protected, just like a grand boss’s entrance in a TV drama.
Su Yuning was amused by her own description, but judging by the display, she knew these were people she definitely couldn’t afford to provoke. She quickly pressed herself against the wall alongside the staff member, waiting for them to pass.
Most of these bodyguards were foreigners, each burly and formidable, making Su Yuning in the corner seem as small as a chick. She hunched her shoulders as the bodyguard’s sharp gaze scrutinized her from behind his sunglasses, likely assessing that neither she nor the staff member posed any threat, before quickly looking away.
The imposing group passed by, and Su Yuning curiously glanced toward the middle, catching sight of Wan Shengping and Quan Ling.
The two of them were chatting with smiles, one exuding charm and allure, the other bright and poised.
When Quan Ling saw her, her expression changed slightly. At first, she didn’t dare meet Su Yuning’s eyes, but she soon lifted her head and signaled for her to go back quickly.
Su Yuning didn’t understand what she was supposed to do, and was intently watching Quan Ling’s mouth movements to figure it out. She only noticed the group abruptly stopping when she realized the young man surrounded in the center was looking in her direction.
Su Yuning looked over and was instantly struck by awe.
