“That is what I am trying to tell you, Agi, I need to speak with the Elders, I need there help.” Roland said, he was inside of the big tree, and had made his way inside when he met Agi near the front entrance.

The tree it’self was one of the largest, and the library that was held inside of it was even more impressive, thousands, no hundreds maybe even millions of books had resided here.

The front lobby area came down as shelf’s lined the walls going around in central circles, in the middle of the drop down space of the lobby was a small sitting area with a librarian.Full novel: Tower of Letters — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

This was the main spot to read, though some of the tables where filled with hundreds of open books and notes, this was the leftover work from the morning that Roland and Agi had left themselves for there night shift.

Outside of the main lobby area was the outer-tree walls, and many inside-floors going very high, on these floors where of course books, but also occasional seats.

And in addition, there was a underground library mainly meant for books that shouldn’t be shown to the public or records and archives of historical events.

Oh, and how could I forget, in the center of the tree was a large chandelier lighting up everything except for the underground.

This library truly held the title of ‘the great tree library’ and any book worm would see this as a form of heaven, though the main concept and purpose of the tree was to hold historical information.

So that warded away most fantasy readers, but if you looked hard enough you could find books that weren’t historical.

This was mainly because people would donate there books to the great tree even if it wasn’t historical related, or crazy people throughout history would write nonsensical books, but the main problems of the great library which kept most readers away was;

First, it was in a random town, so getting here was already a problem.

Second most of the books where unorganized, that was the job of Agi and

Roland, but two people can only do so much.

And Third, they where historical bases, so mainly boring records of kings or such things like this, and a bigger problem was the sheer size of the library made getting from point a to b, very difficult.

“Mmmm, the Elders are busy right now, and hey are you really going to leave me with all this work, Hmm?” Agi said pointing to the table with many books and notes scattered over it, “Goodness, fine, but your going to work over time for this, I mean we are barely hitting our quota this week and now all of a sudden you want to bother the Elders? Ah, man what am I going to do with you?” Agi agreed, brushing of his disappointed face he stood up,

“Well, are you coming?” Agi said, walking along the sides of the small lobby area, slowly climbing up the stairs of the drop-down lobby. about leaving but Agi interjected; “Gwen, well, she is asleep anyway, so don’t bother telling her.” Gwen was an old lady who was half asleep on her bench, she was the librarian and normally spent her days in the library with Roland and Agi.

Agi placed his thumbs in his pocket stretching his back as he walked up the stairs, Roland had wanted to tell Gwen, but, well, she was asleep so there was no point, Roland then spoke up following Agi up the stairs;

“She need to break that habit, although she should rest when she can.”

“So,” Agi probed, as Roland followed behind him, “Are you going to tell your best friend why you need the Elders?” Agi said, but Roland was stuck on the word ‘best friend’ so Roland walked a little faster so they where side by side, then he spoke;

“Best friend? Ha, I barely can feel your existence sometimes.” Roland and Agi had spent a lot of time together, and they where genuine friends,

Roland and Agi, for that matter liked to poke each other buttons, so

Roland was doing just that here.

Agi almost froze in place, he then unfroze because he was getting so mad and heated, so he spoke his frustration while running up the stairs to catch Roland;

“Why you littl――” But Agi was cut off by Roland as he spoke in a low tone Roland’s pace slowed down as he told Agi about it;

“It’s my son, he is a lot different, and I think he may be corrupted, that’s most of it summed up, you will hear the rest later in detail with the Elders.” Roland voice was shallower, and Agi seeing this sudden shift knew it wasn’t a time to play around, so he got serious, speaking as he stood side by side to Roland;

“Ah, I see… Why didn’t you say so in the first place? I thought you where going to ask for shorter work hours~” As much as Agi tried to contain it, he just couldn’t and had to take a jab at Roland, this was with love of course, since they really where friends.

“That sounds like something you would be protesting and begging for, haha”

Roland laughed, seeing the sudden jab he redirected it back to Agi, only causing him to get more mad, with love of course.

But Agi also laughed it off, he knew this wasn’t the most sensible time to be laughing or jabbing eachother with words, but at least it was clearing the mood.

Roland and Agi made there way to the foot of the entrance, as when you came into the tree you would peer down as the library’s lobby went down, around, and even to the sky’s.

“This way, this way.” Agi said walking around on the top floor heading left around the main Lobby floor, it

First there was the central lobby, this went down on a slope with many floors of books wrapping around, then at the very bottom was the central point with the librarian and the desks.

So just before Roland and Agi where there, and then they made there way up to the entrance or the top floor of the lobby, then if you stayed on this floor and went left you would go to the second part of the tree, the underground.

This was off limits for obvious reasons, and if you went right on the top lobby floor then you would start to climb the tree, heading up through the many levels of the third part of the tree, upstairs.

So when I said they made it to the top floor, I meant the top floor of the lobby, not actually the top floor of the upstairs part. keep in mind the library is so big it can be considered to be split in three parts, underground, lobby, and upstairs.

So Roland and Agi where heading left on the top floor of the lobby, they where clearly heading to the underground area.

A separate level of awesomeness that almost rivaled the Lobby and upstairs, that was the underground, a place of upmost secrecy, something Roland and Agi where rarely ever meant to go, but this was an emergency after all.

“Ready?” Agi said, he was standing right at the entrance to the underground, it was a lone stone door hidden between two book-shelf’s.

It truly was holding some of the most important documents of history, kingdom’s that lived thousandths of years ago, kings notes, history, notes of gods.

It was a sight in it’self to see most of know history to be compiled right behind a stone door, in a massive tree, in a library inside a tree.

“Yes, always.” Roland said confidently, to be honest it was his third time ever going down here, the first was a tour with the Elders since they trusted him, second was because he stumbled on some really rare books that his eyes shouldn’t even see.

And third was now, to ask for help regarding Alex.
