With Roland having only ever been down here twice, and Agi never really speaking of coming down here, they where both slightly nervous, “Ah, haha, you can go first..” Agi said pointing out his arms, his voice was slightly nerves, closing his eyes he hoped Roland would take charge.
“No, no, I insist, you can go first, after all your closest to the door…” Roland said, he was also slightly scared to open the door unprompted, if Gwen where here she would already be half way down.
But these fools where working eachother up, Agi spoke again shifting his weight to the side so Roland would be the closest, Agi then spoke;
“Ahah, no it’s completely fine, after all this is your request, so you should go first…”
Roland rolled his eyes, “But chivalry isn’t dead, after all.. It’s lady’s first right?” Agi wasn’t a woman just to be clear, and both Agi and Roland knew this well, but this little tease form Roland had made Agi very angry;
“I Am Not a Woma――” Agi shouted out, Roland rolled his eyes and lifted his shoulders, and yes, before you say it this is how they always act together, Roland then spoke;
“Fine fine, I’ll go first it is my request after all.” He said taking a step towards the door, Agi only scoffed ‘lady’s first my ass’ under his breath, but Roland only heard his jab was effective.
Roland was now face to face with the large stone door, it’s patterns where engraved on the door, but had been worn out over many years so they where dull carvings.
With an open sigh, Roland grabbed the stone door handle, twisting it slowly then with a push he tried to open the door.
He then tried again, this time harder, pushing again and again, but the stone wouldn’t budge, Agi then piped up;
“You know it’s a pull door? Right?” Shock overturned Roland as he realized his mistake, he then pulled the door only for the hinges to freely swing the large stone open.
It was probably engraved somewhere on the door that it was pull from this side and push from the other, but regardless
Roland looked down the dark tunnel.
He was slightly embarrassed so he didn’t say a word, trying to hide that slip up forever, “Ah, I almost forgot about this part…” Roland said in pure disappointment, Agi walked up closer and looked into the doorway he jolted back yelling;
“Ah! I also forgot about this part!” Roland sighed, since the underground was primarily used by the Elders, who where from the mountains, the way to the underground was modeled like that.
In other words, there where no stairs, just a steep slope, it was like a smooth stone slope, not to mention how there where no stairs so one wrong slip and it would rather be a slide.
Luckily the prior times Visit g.com for the full chapter.
Roland and Agi had come down here, they used a method of climbing up and down which was relatively easily.
Since the walls where made of stone bricks and the steep floor was smooth carved stone, they could find patches in the wall to grip onto and safely make it down, though this was easier said then done.
Roland didn’t have any time to waste, if Alex was really corrupted then he shouldn’t waste even a second here with Agi.
So Roland reached out for a stone on the side wall, reading himself and his feet to be on an angle for a while.
It wasn’t easily either since the smooth carved stone wrapped around in a spiral, meaning the walls also curved in a circle so falling was an unforgiving action.
“Aw well, here we go…” Roland said, taking his first cautious steps down the slope, Agi also followed behind him holding onto the same stones in the wall as they slowly descended into the depths of the underground.
Slowly the two made there way down into the underground, holding onto the small craves in the wall with occasionally candles shoved into the side.
The candles where just small flames so the path and decent was mostly covered in darkness, Agi spoke;
“I wonder how many candles they go through… Do you think there magic?” Agi looked into one of the small divots, it was nothing special, just a long candle with a small flame lighting up the spiral.
And a small wax plate holding the candle, although this library was mostly exclusive and not really sought out by the public, so small magic was permitted on the grounds.
So Agi had wondered if the candles where some magic spell, or if someone really climbed the slope and replaced all the candles.
Unfortunately either option where reasonable, so that’s why Agi had asked the question, Roland scoffed searching the wall for a better grip to go down, Roland spoke;
“There probably magic, though, both options seems reasonable, maybe they make candle wax down here… You never know with the Elders.” Roland didn’t pour to much thought into whether the candles where magic or not, he was to preoccupied with finding a grip on the wall and trying to stay stable whilst going down a slope. ache, along with his fingers turning red with pain as they supported his entire body.
Agi’s strategy was to use mainly his fingers to descend down this meant he used a lot more pressure on his fingers rather then his legs, Roland did a bit of a mix, using both his fingers and legs equally.
“Where almost there, just a bit further…” Roland said comforting Agi, though he did not know how far down or rather how much they had left, most of his memory’s of this decent where blank.
Even so, Roland had made it this far, he just needed a push a final push to get there, it was so close, so close indeed.
“Wah――!” Agi yelled out, his hands desperately traced the wall that Roland had had trouble with.
Even so it was far to late, one of his legs came down on the slope tripping, and with nothing to grab onto Agi fell to the floor;
“Owwww…” Agi said, his breathing was sharp while he rubbed his soft black hair, looking up from the floor he could see Roland turning around.
Roland when he had heard the noise held onto the wall and then turned to see
Agi on the floor of the slope, Agi was still behind Roland but one move and he could be sliding around in a spiral for a long time.
“Hey Don’t Move!” Roland shouted, he knew if Agi started to slide down then he would be pushed down by him, Agi looked up his eyes slowly recovered;
“mmm? … … …” Agi was a little dazed, and having fallen down onto smooth stone, his body longed for rest on stable ground, so Agi reached out for the stone wall to hold himself.
“No!” Roland yelled, he watched Agi reach out causing himself to slowly slip down, Roland watched clear as day.
Agi reached and his back which by some miracle hadn’t slipped down the smooth stone slope, slowly give way making Agi slip down the slope, Roland closed his eyes and took a sigh as Agi came straight for him slipping down the spiral slope; “Shit.” Roland said as Agi came under his feet forcing him to fall down the slope as well, Roland much like Agi didn’t try to resist.
Perhaps it was the ‘push’ Roland was hoping for, or maybe the both of them knew it was a waste to resist, and should of used it like a slide all along.
Regardless of what they where thinking in the moment, the two of them neared the end of the spiral.
“Owwwww!” Agi shouted out at they reached the bottom of the spiral, basting lights took there vision away, Roland also fell into Agi; “Ah!” Roland shouted, now the both of them where laying there in pain on the ground.
