『 Even if I died… That doesn’t explain the weird void, or that angel, or why I have even been reborn with my knowledge of my past life?
』
Cael looked down at the small road watching the ants as they built a path of them scattered everywhere.
With an outward sigh he began to think again, this time he tried to dig deeper into his memory’s;
『 Didn’t that angel say he wanted to help me suffer?
And what is an angel, a thing of myths, doing with a shadow master swords man who we didn’t even know existed, but does it really matter at all..?
I mean, I have been given this chance, this new life, this new setting, haven’t I been granted the perfect life?
A new beginning?
Yeah, that’s it, this is just a gift, this life is pity from the gods, a new start, and a new everything.
I don’t need to think about the past life right?
I should leave that up to that world, if anything I have a new start, so I shouldn’t worry about my past at all.
What’s that one saying, ‘cherish your childhood before it’s to late’?
I should do that, I should live my childhood like a child.
That’s what I should do.
』
With such a declaration, Alex stood up on the small stone wall, before jumping with all his might onto the grassy grounds of the estate.
Running over to Tiffen who was busy throwing a sheet over the small line, Alex wrapped his hands around her leg looking up he said;
“Can we play?”
Innocently Alex spoke, Tiffen looked down at him her round glasses tinted in the sun’s gaze, with a playful smirk she bent down to his level, speaking softly;
“How about you go help your Mother?” Tiffen the pointed to Eveline who was
Alex’s mother, she was walking up the small path of the hill.
Her hands where full with bags of shopping, various foods where poking out of the bags, Alex followed Tiffen’s hands until he saw his mother, to which
Alex started to run again, this time straight to his mother.
Tiffen laughed silently, knowing she had sent a storm straight to Eveline,
Tiffen then went back to folding clothes and sheets over the small line.
Alex ran to the gate, then through the gate and outside of the small stone walls, then he ran further towards his Mother, running as far as he could even though he had to take a breath in-between.
Alex had only recently been walking and running, so the skill was still hard to master in a baby’s body, running all the way until he reached his mothers legs holding onto one, Eveline looked down with a smile and spoke;
“Ah, what a pleasant surprise Alex, what are you doing up so active?” She said calmly, quite surprised but how ‘lively’ Alex was behaving, Alex stepped back from her leg pointing with great excitement he spoke;
“Tiffen took me outside to run around… And then I saw you, and Tiffen told me to help you..”
Alex held his hand out, attempting to give her a hand, however Eveline smiled reaching into the bag she grabbed out an apple handing it to him, then she spoke softly;
“Aw sweetie, thank you for the offer, but don’t worry I have got this..”
Alex grabbed the apple and held it tight against his chest, he then ran up in front and guided her home holding the small gate open for her and everything he could do to help.
Just before Alex and Eveline made it to the front door, Eveline turned around to face Tiffen, Eveline then spoke;
“Tiffen?” Eveline said aloud, trying to piece together her next words, in that short time Tiffen stopped what she was doing to face Eveline and said;
“Yes, madam?” Tiffen was very ready at any moment to get new orders or to stop orders, she was quite the housemaid and was like a co-mother to
Alex, Eveline then spoke again calmly;
“I will need your hand to prepare soup of dinner tonight, so once your done please come to the kitchen, that’s all.” Eveline then looked at her bowing as she took in the new orders, Tiffen then spoke as Alex led
Eveline into the front door of the house;
“Very well, madam.” She said, then returning back to hanging clothes over the line, already thinking about the many spices that could go into the soup to make it’s flavor pop out.
******************************************************************************************
Now, Alex was sitting on a small chair beside the dinner table, his mother was in the kitchen to his left, and just behind him was the very same hallway.
After helping his mother through the door, Alex was instructed to wait until dinner, which was being solely prepared by Eveline at the moment.
Tiffen had still been outside folding clothes, whilst Eveline had taken up the start of dinner tying a small apron around her shoulders.
And yet despise his declaration Alex was totally helpless against time, I mean what was he supposed to do?
Sit there and wait a few hours, think maybe?
Alex had been experiencing fragments of his life flash away, but today he was rather conscious, having been awake thinking for a few hours by now.
That may seem small, but his fragments would last anywhere between five minutes to thirty seconds, so this was quite a jump in time and thinking.
『 Mmm, what should I do?
』 Alex pondered, sitting at the bare table he thought about the new reality of his new life.
It was no doubt that he had been given a once in a lifetime chance, but what should he spend that lifetime on?
『 Oh, that’s right, I remember asking about father with Tiffen, but never got the chance to speak about it..
』
Roland, who was Alex’s father was quite the strange figure, for starters he was almost never present in Alex’s fragments of memory’s.
He would always come home late, eat, and then go back out at night, and Alex thought he would came back in late at night to sleep before going back out in the morning but he never confirmed this fact.
Outside of that, he seemed to lack courage to be a present father in Alex’s life, leading to most of his days spent with Tiffen on Eveline.
But from the many scatted memory’s Alex could never piece together what had Roland been doing or working on.
Form the fragments he could recognize
Tiffen as the household maid, and co-mother, while Eveline was the mother but also had some things she did in the town occasionally.
Roland, however, was a closed book that Alex had never read, that also brought up another point in Alex’s mind;
『 Now that I think about it, there has never been a moment where I went to the town, there as always been someone here to take care of me..
I mean, I am about three so it’s not unreasonable I have never left the house… Ugh, what am I talking about?
I only have scatted fragments of this place, I have never lived longer then a day here!
』
Cael ruffled his hair in thought, what he said was true though, he didn’t really ‘know’ these people, and if anything he was only piecing things together from fragments of short clips.
Despite all of his rejections his body still reacted to these people like he had known them for longer then he could remember, a sound from his Mother Eveline confirmed this fact;
“Oh, your home early.. Dinner should be soon, sorry I was expecting you a little later, in fact dinner might be an hour off…”
Alex turned his gaze to the door witch had opened without a hitch from the hinges, his gaze rebutted at the man standing in front of the door, it was Roland there in person, standing at the door he spoke while closing it;
“No, that’s quite all right, if anything I have time to burn since I am here early.. But I do have to head out again a little later to finish up.”
