A narrow path meets a powerful foe!
There was no way back!
Xia Miao finally perked up. It was not that the dungeon boss had sparked her interest; once they defeated it, the dungeon would end!
The dungeon had few types of monsters, but the party advanced slowly and needed to rest and recover after every battle.
Nearly half an hour had passed since they entered the dungeon.
The dim environment, quiet atmosphere, and Disheveled Uncle’s incessant muttering were bad enough. Nangong Wen had also dragged Xia Miao out of bed early to play games.
Xia Miao's eyelids had long since begun to droop. After clearing the dungeon, she desperately wanted to log off and enjoy a sweet nap.
Thus, the moment the ogre landed, Xia Miao charged forward.
An ordinary Knight who charged forward without following orders would disrupt the formation and endanger the damage dealers in the rear.
That was the greatest taboo when entering a dungeon!
But Xia Miao did not care. She could already see the soft bed beckoning her.
For the nap! Charge!
Xia Miao cried out in her heart. Holding her Cross Sword, she charged forward, her Battle Intent blazing.
Like a fearless heroic knight!
“Ohhh! Shrimp Sprout is so cool! I’m fired up too! Charge!” Seeing Xia Miao so determined, Handsome Hua Manlou instantly became excited as well and shouted.
So brave?
Could it be that she had a hidden killing move?
As everyone’s gaze focused on Xia Miao, their slight surprise carried a hint of anticipation.
The stronger Xia Miao was, the easier things would be for them.
“Eek!”
As everyone watched, Xia Miao took two steps, tripped over a bone, and cried out. She tumbled into a heap and rolled beneath the ogre like a ball.
Hiss—
The expectant crowd inhaled sharply. Some covered their faces; others turned away. None could bear to watch.
A knight serving as the party’s main tank had taken a face-first fall while charging. No one would believe it if they heard about it…
Seeing the human who had rolled right up in front of it, the ogre scratched its scalp in confusion. Then it clenched its fist and slammed it down.
The ogre would never let food that came knocking pass by.
“Focus fire!” Seeing the ogre attack, Hua Luo Hongchen raised her hand. The members of Tulip unleashed their full firepower, hurling every kind of Skill at the ogre.
Boom!
The ogre’s fist crashed into the ground with a muffled thud, and the entire floor trembled under the force.
-846!
Reflective damage -2092!
That punch took more than one-third of Xia Miao’s Health. Without Thorn Armor’s damage reduction, it would have dealt over a thousand damage!
Even Xia Miao found the damage astonishing.
This damage far exceeded that of the Elite Monsters in the Leveling Area outside.
Regeneration +1603!
Green light flashed above Xia Miao’s head, restoring her lost Health to full.
By then, everyone else’s attacks had arrived and pounded the ogre.
-142!
-99!
-34, -28, -31, -35!
…
The ogre was extraordinarily tough. Even with everyone firing their Skills at once, their combined damage amounted to less than a fraction of Xia Miao’s Reflective Damage.
“Uh…”
“How high is this boss’s defense? We can’t damage it at all!”
“We’ll have to rely on big sister Shrimp Sprout…”
Everyone was dumbfounded. The ogre’s defense far exceeded their expectations. For now, they could only rely on Xia Miao to tank it alone; they could do little more than provide support.
The ogre had lost nearly 1,700 Health to Reflective Damage. Roaring in pain, it reached for Xia Miao with its enormous palm.
Although the ogre was fat and bulky, its movements were extremely swift.
Neither Xia Miao nor anyone else had time to react to this grab.
Caught off guard, Xia Miao let the ogre seize her by the arm. A tremendous force then yanked her in front of it like a lamb being lifted by the scruff.
The ogre’s foul, fang-filled mouth rapidly grew in Xia Miao’s pupils.
Holy crap!
“Don’t come any closer!” Terror filled Xia Miao’s eyes as she thrashed with all four limbs, every inch of her body resisting.
Unfortunately, no one could come to her aid.
With a crunch, the ogre bit down on half of Xia Miao’s body.
Blood Loss -800!
A damage number appeared above Xia Miao’s head.
At the same time, a flash of green light appeared above the ogre’s head.
Lifesteal +1000!
Everyone was startled. They had not expected the ogre to possess such an outrageous Health Regeneration Skill.
More importantly, Xia Miao had to tank this dungeon boss alone. Yet the ogre’s bite did not trigger Reflective Damage!
“How are we supposed to kill this thing? One bite deals that much damage, restores 1,000 Health, and doesn’t trigger Reflective Damage?” Handsome Hua Manlou frowned and grumbled.
“We can’t do much besides add a little damage. Let’s wait and see.” Hua Luo Hongchen spoke calmly.
The factors determining victory or defeat were no longer in her hands. All they could do was watch Xia Miao’s performance.
I’m not clean anymore…
Xia Miao broke free from the ogre’s grasp, her face lifeless.
Being bitten by such an ugly brute hurt Xia Miao psychologically several times more than it hurt her physically.
Regeneration +1603!
Green light flashed over her, restoring the Health the ogre had drained from Xia Miao.
Furious, Xia Miao drew her sword and gave the ogre a savage superficial beating.
The ogre grew furious as well. How dare mere food resist it?
The ogre punched away several hundred of Xia Miao’s Health. Reflective Damage cost it over a thousand Health, so it grabbed Xia Miao and bit her again to restore 1,000 Health.
Meanwhile, Xia Miao swung her sword wildly and gave the ogre a superficial beating. Green light flashed above her head at intervals, restoring her lost Health to full.
The human and the monster traded sword strikes and punches. Every so often, the ogre grabbed Xia Miao and bit her again, inflicting psychological damage.
Green light flashed above both their heads without pause. They had turned the fight into turn-based combat, leaving everyone else dumbfounded.
They had expected the boss battle to be difficult and brutal, with a high chance of a disastrous team wipe.
But they had never imagined that someone could turn a boss battle into a one-person show—and a turn-based one at that!
It had no entertainment value, yet it was incredibly reassuring!
This damn sense of security!
After more than a dozen rounds between the ogre and Xia Miao, with Tulip’s members adding damage from the sidelines, the ogre ultimately fell short because its recovery was too weak.
The ogre could restore 1,000 Health with one bite. At this stage, when almost no player could deal much damage, that was already an unfair advantage.
But who could have imagined that a player would be even more unfair? The ogre restored 1,000, while this woman restored over 1,600.
They wore the ogre down in the very field where it excelled most.
The ogre probably never imagined that it would one day die such a humiliating death.
