The next day.
After breakfast, Nangong Wen dragged Xia Miao into the game in a hurry.
The Level 10 Class-Change Quest was neither particularly difficult nor easy.
They needed to defeat a Level 10 enhanced monster. If they formed a party, the number of monsters would increase with the number of party members.
A player who had not undergone Class Advancement might struggle to clear it alone, but adding a player who had already advanced their class made it much easier.
Nangong Wen brought Xia Miao to the nearest main city—Glar No. 1 City!
“Xia Miao, what class are you planning to advance to?” Nangong Wen asked as she led Xia Miao through the Main City gates.
“Uh... Which class would be the least troublesome?” Xia Miao glanced at the towering buildings around them and replied absently.
“Seriously? You haven’t even decided what class you want to play?” Nangong Wen slapped her forehead and stared at the sky in speechless exasperation.
Even so, Nangong Wen still gave Xia Miao a rough introduction.
“The Five Major Classes are Knight, Mage, Priest, Assassin, and Archer. Assassin and Archer rely more on player control, so they’re harder to learn.”
“Knight, mage, and priest are a little easier to control. The mage is responsible for beating people up, the knight is responsible for taking the beating, and the priest is responsible for healing the one taking the beating.”
“Explain the healing part!” Xia Miao perked up.
Bang!
A Magic Staff smacked Xia Miao on the head, and she behaved herself.
“Then I’ll advance to Knight and take the beating. At least I won’t have to move.” Xia Miao covered her head and spoke pitifully.
“The knight still has to use skills like taunt, charge, and shield counter... Forget it. At least knights are tougher and less likely to die...” Nangong Wen sighed, wondering how she had ended up with such a nuisance.
A moment later, the two arrived at the knight class mentor’s location.
There were quite a few players in the Main City, but few stood before the Class Mentor. After all, players could leave as soon as they accepted the quest.
“Lord Mentor, I want to advance to Knight!” Xia Miao looked up at the NPC before her. He was completely wrapped in thick silver armor and looked extremely intimidating.
“Go to the knight barracks and defeat the training officer. Then I will acknowledge that you qualify to become a knight!”
Xia Miao accepted the quest and went with Nangong Wen to the nearby knight barracks.
The Knight Barracks resembled an enormous circus tent, but its gray-white patterns gave it a stern, murderous air.
Far more players gathered at the Knight Barracks entrance than at the Knight Class Mentor’s location. Stalls lined both sides in a long row, giving the place the feel of a night-market food street.
“Solo carry for the Class-Change Quest, 10 silver coins per run!”
“Level 10 knight common-grade equipment! Come take a look, rock-bottom prices!”
“Beginner health regeneration Potions and beginner mana potions, essential for grinding monsters!”
“One player carries three through the Class-Change Quest! Eight silver coins to join! Four people per run!”
..
Shouts rose one after another through the bustling crowd. The scene was lively and full of noise.
Xia Miao and Nangong Wen struggled through the crowd to reach the Knight Barracks entrance.
Ding!
Enter the knight barracks?
“Yes!” A system prompt rang in her ears, and Xia Miao responded.
Whoosh—
A flash of white glow swept across Xia Miao’s vision, and the surrounding scenery changed at once.
Xia Miao and Nangong Wen appeared in a broad, circular arena resembling an ancient Roman colosseum. No one else was there. Boulders, broken logs, and other obstacles lay scattered across the field, leaving the arena otherwise empty.
Opposite them stood two training officers wielding Cross Swords and wearing chain mail.
Because Xia Miao and Nangong Wen had entered as a party, two training officers had appeared.
“Xia Miao, have you assigned your attribute points?” Nangong Wen asked while staring at the two training officers.
“Not yet...” Xia Miao froze for a moment, glanced at her attribute panel, and replied.
“Put them all into Constitution and go take a few hits. I’ll finish them quickly!” Nangong Wen said in an unquestionable tone, her words filled with confidence.
She was a Full-Intelligence Build Battle Mage, after all. Taking out two training officers with a few Fireballs would be easy.
After Xia Miao completed her Class Advancement, she could reset her Attribute Points, so none would go to waste. Besides, Knights were supposed to invest in Constitution and Stamina anyway, so adding them now would not hurt!
“Oh... Oh, okay!” Xia Miao nodded woodenly. Without hesitation, she poured all the Attribute Points she had gained at Level 10 into Constitution, then walked toward the two training officers.
She trusted Nangong Wen’s words completely.
Moreover, she needed no control at all. She only had to go up and take the beating. It was convenient!
《Gods》In Gods, every time a player levels up, all Attributes increase by 1, and the player receives 10 free Attribute Points.
After pouring all her Attribute Points into Constitution and gaining the usual Attribute growth from leveling up, Xia Miao’s Health had reached 1,140 points.
She could withstand both training officers’ attacks for quite a while!
That health total alone was reassuring!
Xia Miao nodded in satisfaction and entered their aggro range, drawing both training officers’ attention.
“Take this!”
“Watch out!”
The two training officers gave a low shout and charged toward Xia Miao with their Cross Swords in hand.
They were polite enough.
Although she had prepared herself, Xia Miao instinctively closed her eyes and raised her hands to block when two gleaming blades slashed toward her.
Slash, slash!
The sound of blades cutting into flesh rang out, and two damage numbers appeared above Xia Miao’s head.
-88!
-92!
Around ninety damage per sword. At that rate, Xia Miao could still take about ten more hits...
Fortunately, Xia Miao had disabled the game’s pain sensation from the start. When she saw that her Health had barely decreased, she was about to celebrate when a streak of fire flew in from the side.
Boom!
A blazing Fireball exploded between Xia Miao and the two training officers, knocking them back.
Friendly Fire was disabled, so the Fireball’s blast did not injure Xia Miao even though it caught her in the blast.
But it still frightened her.
It felt like someone had thrown a string of firecrackers at her face.
“At least give me some warning!” Xia Miao waved a fist at Nangong Wen in protest.
“Eek!” Nangong Wen played along.
You damn...
The corners of Xia Miao’s mouth twitched in anger, but Nangong Wen’s oppressive influence forced her to endure it.
A gentleman’s revenge can wait ten years. Besides, she still needed Nangong Wen right now!
Thirty years east of the river, thirty years west of the river. Don’t look down on a young girl just because she is poor!
Hmph!
Xia Miao thought bitterly.
The Class-Change Quest was not meant to be difficult, so the monsters would not switch aggro at random. No matter how much damage Nangong Wen dealt, the two training officers would keep hacking at Xia Miao. They would go after Nangong Wen only after killing her.
Before that happened, Nangong Wen’s Fireballs had already blasted the two training officers to death.
A moment later, the two training officers fell, and the gate at the arena’s edge opened on its own.
Ding!
Congratulations, you have completed the “knight class-Change Quest.” Reward: 【worn training cross sword】 x1.
After completing the Class-Change Quest, the two left the quest Dungeon.
“Hurry to the mentor and learn your skills. After that, go to the leveling area to grind monsters. We’ve already fallen far behind.”
After they came out, Nangong Wen urged her on.
