Wen Lun said he would beat Wen Le’s backside, but in the end, he only gave him a light pat. He simply could not bring himself to be harsh with his younger brother.

Xia Zhi was no longer worried.

After finishing the meter checks, they returned to the villa.Full novel: Transmigrated 20 Years Later as a Landlady of 300 Buildings — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Xia Zhi calculated the rent for the three buildings and sent the amounts to each tenant one by one.

Doo doo doo…

Her phone kept popping up with incoming payment notifications. Some payments were automatically received in the system, while others required her to open the chat with the tenant and tap to accept the payment.

Xia Zhi became like an emotionless rent collecting machine, tap to receive, exit, tap to receive, exit, repeating the cycle over and over. Yet this mechanical process was not boring to her at all. In fact, she was silently cheering for more.

Collecting rent was simply too satisfying.

In just minutes, tens of thousands were deposited.

Thinking back to her working days, she used to wake up at six every morning, take two subway transfers over two hours, live in constant fear of performance targets, endure scolding from her superiors, and be dragged into endless workplace competition. She worked overtime until around ten every night, yet only earned a meager ten thousand a month.

Now, with just a few taps, she could earn what used to take her a month of exhausting work.

Being a landlady truly was the happiest occupation in the world.

She loved being a landlady.

Her phone vibrated again. Xia Zhi looked closely and saw a message from someone labeled “Finance, Liao Mengru.”

Finance, Liao Mengru: President Xia, please take a look, this is this month’s rent collection report.

Wen Yu had mentioned earlier that she had set up a company specifically to manage rent collection, hiring employees to help. This “Liao Mengru” must be one of her staff.

Seeing the title “President Xia,” Xia Zhi felt a bit embarrassed. After years of working, she had not even managed to become a department supervisor, yet now she had jumped several levels and become the boss of a company.

Perhaps, when her future self started this company, it was not only for convenience in collecting rent, but also because…

She wanted to be addressed as “President Xia.”

Liao Mengru had sent an Excel file. Xia Zhi opened it, and the rent collection details for each building were clearly laid out.

When Xia Zhi finished going through everything and looked up, she was captivated by the peaceful and pleasant scene before her. Sunlight streamed through the bright windows into the villa, filling the living room with warmth. Wen Le and Wen Yi were sitting on the soft carpet watching cartoons, while Wen Lun had his arm slung around Wen Yu’s shoulders as they talked. Whenever he got excited, Wen Lun would slap Wen Yu’s shoulder repeatedly, leaving Wen Yu looking helpless.

And Wen Shihan…

He was answering a phone call. It seemed to be someone asking him for investment. Sitting beside him, Xia Zhi could not help overhearing parts of the conversation. Most of the time, the other party was speaking, while Wen Shihan responded sparingly. The person seeking investment seemed to have already built up their company and was now looking to expand, seeking investors for a Series A round.

The call did not last long. After Wen Shihan said calmly, “I will evaluate it first,” in a cool tone, the call ended.

Looking at his cold and serious expression, Xia Zhi once again felt the authority of a corporate leader.

“What is it?” Wen Shihan noticed her staring and asked.

His voice was not as cold as it had been during the call. Xia Zhi cleared her throat and asked, “Can you handle this kind of work?”

To be honest, both of them had come to the future, but Xia Zhi felt that Wen Shihan had it much harder than she did. Not only had he married someone ordinary like her, he had also lost his previous job and been forced into a new field as an investor.

As for her, she had both sons and daughters and had become a happy landlady owning three hundred buildings.

Maybe she should transfer him a bit more money.

Wen Shihan gave a short response. “I used to be an investor overseas. It was only because something went wrong with Wen Yue Group that I resigned from that role and returned to take over the company.”

I see.

That put her at ease.

Xia Zhi had only known before that Wen Shihan had worked overseas, but she had not known he had been an investor. As expected, her boss was still highly capable. It was not her place, as a mere subordinate, to worry about him.

“Worried about me?” Wen Shihan suddenly asked.

Xia Zhi felt awkward and did not know how to respond. If she said she was not worried, it would seem like she did not care enough about her boss. If she said she was, it would make her seem overconfident.

Just then, a phone call conveniently broke the awkwardness. Xia Zhi answered it, and a young woman’s voice came through, “Landlady, the faucet here is spraying water and won’t shut off. Could you get someone to come fix it?”

Since the call came directly to her, it was probably a tenant from the nearby buildings she personally managed.

Xia Zhi quickly switched into landlady mode. “Which building are you in?”

“Yunjin Bay, Building 10, Unit 502.”

“Alright, I’ll have someone come over.”

The tenant had already asked her to send someone, so it seemed she did not need to handle it personally. There should be a dedicated repair technician.

After hanging up, Xia Zhi asked Wen Yu and Wen Lun, “Do we have someone who specifically handles water and electrical repairs for tenants?”

Wen Yu nodded. “Yes, the contact is saved in your call list. You can scroll and find it.”

Xia Zhi opened her contacts and indeed found someone labeled “Technician Chen.” She called him, gave him the tenant’s address, and urged him to handle it as soon as possible.

She continued scrolling through her contacts. The first entry was “Dear Husband,” and it was obvious who that referred to. Then came Wen Yu, Wen Lun, Wen Yi, and Wen Le, followed by various teachers’ numbers, likely belonging to the children.

“Ding dong.”

The doorbell suddenly rang outside the villa.

“Who is it?” Wen Lun walked to the side of the door, where a monitor displayed the outside of the estate and allowed communication with visitors.

Soon, a robotic voice came through the monitor. “Hello, your delivery has arrived.”

“Then bring it in,” Wen Lun said as he used the remote to open the main gate of the estate.

Through the villa’s window, Xia Zhi saw a cute delivery robot outside the estate sprout two wings and fly toward the villa entrance with a swift whoosh, incredibly fast.

Xia Zhi, “…” Even deliveries had become so advanced twenty years later.

Wen Lun signed for the package and read the label as he walked. “Long sleeve and long pants pajamas, who bought this?”

Xia Zhi was slightly surprised. She had only placed the order an hour ago, and it had already arrived? Delivery speed had become this fast?

“I bought it.” Xia Zhi rushed over and took her package.

“Mom, it’s so hot, why did you buy long sleeve and long pants pajamas?”

Xia Zhi said seriously, “You’re still young, there are things in society you cannot handle yet, better not ask too much.”

Wen Lun, “…”
