Song Shuangzhi looked at the faint crease between his brows and immediately knew this was probably another difficult problem.
In less than three months, she would become an ex-wife. By then, he would meet the heroine, but if he was still wearing a wedding ring, how could he possibly start a normal, healthy acquaintance and relationship?
Tongbao only had Song Shuangzhi in its eyes and let out a cold snort.
【Maybe that man just likes excitement. That heroine is a nasty woman anyway, probably the type who enjoys being a third party~】
“Tongbao, don’t say that,” Song Shuangzhi replied seriously and firmly. “Don’t assume the worst about anyone without evidence.”
The story’s development was never something small characters like them could control. The heroine naturally had her own storyline.
【Baby, I was wrong~ o(T-T)ゞ I just have a foul mouth, I was talking nonsense…】
The system whimpered pitifully.
【I just really like you, I favor you, I think you’re the most beautiful in the universe!】
Song Shuangzhi knew it meant no harm.
“Watch me complete this task for you!”
Sure enough, Tan Siyin did not intend to wear the wedding ring. He had already taken it off and seemed ready to put it into his pocket.
Song Shuangzhi made a sudden move.
Her slender hand slipped into his palm, plucked the ring out, and firmly held his large hand.
“When I was little and saw weddings on TV,” she said softly, “I always thought exchanging wedding rings was a sacred act.”
“It reminds both husband and wife that they already belong to someone else. Even when holding someone else’s hand, the ring would press against the finger and remind you.”
She guided the ring slowly onto his ring finger.
“My father used to give my mother a new wedding ring every year on their anniversary,” she continued. “He said she would never grow old, and they would always be newlyweds.”
【Mission complete!】
Tan Siyin looked at the ring on his finger without saying a word.
The smaller ring was now in Song Shuangzhi’s hand. Recently, two lawyers had kept inviting her to dinner and she found it annoying, so she simply put the ring on as well.
Next time someone invited her out, she could just hold up her hand and say proudly:
【My husband won’t allow it!】
“By the way, this ring is so beautiful!” she said to Tongbao, admiring the white gold band.
“It looks so plain. Why does it suddenly look so stunning once it’s worn?”
【Nonsense! The Tan family is an old-money scholarly household. This ring was custom-designed by their grandmother, revised eighteen times by top global designers!】
【Worth eighty million.】
Song Shuangzhi gasped. “If I just ran off with this ring, I’d be set for life!”
【No way. If you don’t complete the mission, you’ll die!】
Song Shuangzhi sighed. She could only admire it for a moment.
But the next second…
Tan Siyin suddenly grasped her ring finger and removed the band from her hand.
Song Shuangzhi froze. Her finger was left completely bare.
He looked at her deeply, as if he wanted to say something but stopped himself. In the end, he simply lowered his head and checked his phone.
【Bastard! Who takes back a wedding ring like that?!】
【Damn it, he’s not asking for it to show he’s married or for romance… he’s giving it to the heroine, isn’t he?!】
【This scumbag, I’m going to fight him!】
【New clingy female supporting character mission triggered: get angry, go into a cold war, and kick his ring into the water!】
Even a rabbit bites when pushed too far.
Song Shuangzhi felt her worldview collapse. She had actually thought Tan Siyin was a decent person. Who would’ve thought he’d confiscate the ring and give it to the heroine?
So the heroine was going to receive a secondhand ring?
He was already so rich, why couldn’t he just buy another one?
Why was he entangling two women like this?
Her face flushed red with anger, and she didn’t even fully register the system’s mission instructions.
The car stopped outside Litchi Bay. Tan Siyin got out while checking his phone, and the ring seemed slightly awkward in his hand. It slipped—
Clang! It fell to the ground.
Song Shuangzhi had just gotten out.
She stepped straight into the dirt.
【Well done!】
【Step on it! Crush it!】
“Oh, sorry,” she said while looking at him. She lifted her foot and flicked it.
With a sharp whoosh, the priceless ring drew a beautiful arc through the air and flew straight into Litchi Bay.
“I didn’t see it,” she added, her tone clearly laced with sarcasm.
Tan Siyin could tell she was angry, but he didn’t understand why. More importantly…
“Retrieve the ring,” he instructed the butler.
He did not return to the house. Instead, he stood by the water in the freezing winter night of Beicheng. He removed his ceremonial robe and placed it over Song Shuangzhi’s shoulders.
She averted her gaze, arms crossed, strictly following the system’s instructions.
【Be angry! Cold war!】
【Take off his robe and throw it into Litchi Bay too!】
【And his bedding!】
【His suits, his shoes, everything! Throw it all in!】
She wasn’t unwilling.
It was just…
It was really cold. His robe was clean and warm.
Her hand slipped into her pocket and unexpectedly pulled out an orange tulip.
So beautiful.
【Take the tulip home! Throw the robe away! Dirty thing! Bad omen!!!】
Song Shuangzhi snorted angrily, threw the robe away, and stormed back into the house.
Four small cats gathered around her, then refreshed into existence on her shoulders and head. She hugged a little snail that looked like a boy.
“Bao Guai, you’re the cutest. That Tan Siyin is so annoying!!!”
She placed the fresh tulip into a vase.
“What kind of decent man carries flowers around anyway?” she muttered to the system. “Check who the heroine is. Girls help girls. I need to warn her about what kind of man Tan Siyin is!”
After a long pause, Tongbao finally responded.
【…The tulip was apparently bought by him for you before he boarded the plane.】
【And… maybe look out the window?】
Four cats sat peacefully on her shoulders while she carried the extra weight of several small creatures.
Outside the window—
Tan Siyin had already jumped into Litchi Bay. The tall man bent over, carefully searching through the water.
“…Was that ring very important to him?” Song Shuangzhi suddenly felt a pang of regret. Maybe she shouldn’t have been so angry.
The system checked again.
【It’s not a family heirloom. He just bought it for your marriage.】
【Heh… unless giving it to you personally on your ring finger gave it some deeper meaning?】
The system quickly typed it out, then deleted it in a flash.
Both of them shook their heads at the same time. The cats imitated them. Even the little snail followed along.
Eventually, Tan Siyin retrieved the ring. Soaked and freezing, he returned inside.
What met him was a whole household—humans, cats, and even a snail, all rhythmically shaking their heads by the window.
His mouth twitched slightly, as if trying not to laugh.
From the mirror, Song Shuangzhi saw her own ridiculous posture and got even angrier.
She stormed off with the cats and locked herself in her room.
Cold war. She could stay there for three months if needed.
Tan Siyin held the ring and walked toward the bathroom, instructing his assistant:【Check who has touched her hand and the ring.】
【Buy every secondhand shop’s matching model.】
【Also buy ten new wedding ring designs, nothing below this price.】
He paused, then deleted the previous message.
【Forget it, I’ll pick them myself.】
