After a long moment, Gu Yuheng withdrew his gaze, a complicated light flickering in his eyes, lost in some thought.

The moment he entered, he noticed the living room was different from usual. Looking closer, he saw scattered traces of fine dirt here and there, along with streak-like marks, strange indeed.

And today, as it happened, no one was home. The housekeeper had taken leave for personal matters, so he had simply given the others the day off as well.Full novel: Transmigrated as the Delicate Rose of the Paranoid Villain — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Even after just one day without cleaning, the living room shouldn’t be this dirty.

Unless something had gotten in.

Suddenly, he quickened his pace and hurried upstairs.

“Bang” He shoved the door open. In that instant, Little Rose trembled slightly, perhaps from fright.

Seeing that Little Rose was still there, Gu Yuheng let out a heavy breath of relief, his tightly furrowed brow visibly relaxing.

He hurried to the rose’s side and touched the soil, feeling out Little Rose’s living conditions, this was his habit.

The soil seemed a bit too loose? The thought flashed through his mind, but he didn’t dwell on it. After all, loose, soft soil was better for plant growth.

He picked up the watering can nearby and carefully gave it some water.

Only then did he notice several droplets of water gathered among the rose’s blooms.

Water droplets? He watered in a scattered manner, so logically it couldn’t be from the water he’d just applied. For some reason, it bothered him.

Roses, people say they’re easy to grow, but they’re actually quite difficult.

Gu Yuheng thought his Little Rose was rather delicate: the nutrient soil had to be the finest, the pot had to be the finest, the watering couldn’t be too wet or too dry, and yet the soil had to be watered thoroughly, among a whole list of other care instructions.

Amazing that he could remember every single one without missing a beat.

“Why so listless today? Did you get too much sun?” Gu Yuheng had been drawn away by the inexplicable water droplets, and it took him a while to notice that the branches and leaves around Little Rose all looked somewhat wilted.

He remembered drawing the curtains before leaving. Glancing toward the window, light filtered through the gaps in the glass, for ventilation’s sake, Gu Yuheng had deliberately left a small window open for Little Rose.

It shouldn’t have wilted from sun exposure.

Then, as if something occurred to him, he began carefully examining Little Rose’s branches and leaves.

Qi Yu no longer had the presence of mind to care about Gu Yuheng’s rough rummaging, it simply hurt too much. Who knew a bee’s bite could hurt this badly? He had exerted tremendous effort to keep himself calm and not cry out.

As Gu Yuheng’s hands drew closer and closer to the wound, Qi Yu trembled in pain, and several more water droplets appeared out of nowhere among the rose’s blooms.

His hands stopped, and his face darkened abruptly, his brows knitting into a deep frown.

Not far from Little Rose’s base, there was an empty burrowed tunnel. Judging by the marks, it was very fresh, it had just been bitten.

Ever since Little Rose had been brought home, Gu Yuheng had studied how to care for roses. He couldn’t call himself a professional by now, but he was half an expert.

He examined it carefully, it was the work of a rose stem sawfly.

He thought for a moment, then made a call, asking someone to bring some DDVP pesticide, and also had the cleaning service tidy up downstairs.

Gu Yuheng gently stroked Little Rose, then suddenly bent down and pressed a light kiss to its leaves.

In an instant, a tingling sensation spread through Qi Yu’s entire body, he even felt the wound hurt less.

“Wait for me like a good girl.” With that, he headed for the door, then suddenly paused and turned back to close the small window.

He was afraid Little Rose would suffer any more.

Gu Yuheng knew that his little rose’s reactions were abnormal, water droplets appearing out of nowhere, feeling pain, feeling fear, even clinging to him, and possibly possessing its own consciousness. This was clearly no ordinary plant.

But whether it was a demon or a monster, it was still his little rose.

His.
