In the greenhouse.
Gu Yuheng held a small spoon, packing the freshly delivered nutrient soil into bags. His suit jacket, which he hadn’t had a chance to change out of, was covered in specks of dirt.
President Gu, who was famously fastidious about cleanliness, didn’t care in the slightest. He grabbed the little bag of soil and headed out, picking up the bottle of DDT he’d ordered someone to buy along the way, and hurried upstairs in a few quick strides.
Downstairs, the cleaning lady stared at the marks scattered across the hallway and living room, utterly puzzled.
She was normally in charge of cleaning the living room, and since she tidied it every day, it was usually spotless, the most she ever dealt with was dust. But today,
She looked at the marks on the floor. It was dirt.
Strange. But then she remembered that Gu Yuheng had just come out of the greenhouse, so she didn’t think much of it.
Back in his room, Gu Yuheng first glanced at the window, confirmed it was still tightly shut, then walked toward the little rose with the bag of soil and the DDT in hand.
Qi Yu had been in terrible pain, but the moment he saw what Gu Yuheng was holding, the pain suddenly didn’t seem so bad anymore.
[007, get out here! Gu Yuheng is going to kill me! What do I do? Weren’t you supposed to say I’m your favorite little rose?] Typical man, heartless pigs, all of them.
Qi Yu shouted for 007 in his mind, but there was no response at all.
What do I do, what do I do? 007, if you don’t come soon, your handsome, charming host is going to die right here.
Unfortunately, no matter how many times he called, 007 acted as if it didn’t exist. However desperately he cried for help, there was no reaction.
Seeing Gu Yuheng getting closer and closer, Qi Yu shuddered at the sight of the DDT in his hand. He racked his brain, unable to figure out why the man wanted to kill him.
Wait, could he have found out that he was a spirit? Qi Yu carefully went back over everything he’d done, trying to figure out where he’d slipped up. And the moment he started thinking about it, he nearly scared his soul right out of his body.
It was over, it was all over. Looking back, everything he’d done was abnormal. What kind of rose, for god’s sake, curls its leaves and wraps around people’s fingers? If he claimed he was a rose with mimosa ancestry, would Gu Yuheng believe him?
Qi Yu was so terrified that his thoughts had started spiraling into nonsense.
Was Qi Yu really going to meet his end here today?
He imagined Gu Yuheng pouring the entire bottle of DDT over him in a moment and maybe that bag of soil was meant for burying him.
He hadn’t even finished his mission yet. He still wanted to go home and see his dad, his mom, his brother.
007! If you don’t come out now, I’m really done for! Left with no choice, Qi Yu called for the system once more, but still, no sign of it.
The system vanishes at the critical moment, how utterly unreliable can you get?
While his thoughts ran wild, Gu Yuheng had already walked right up to him.
Qi Yu couldn’t help but shiver again. Gu Yuheng assumed it was from the pain. He bent down and gently stroked his branches and leaves, saying softly, “There, there. It won’t hurt much longer.” As he spoke, he gave the bag in his hand a little shake.
Qi Yu: !
Gu Yuheng was going to kill him, because he didn’t want him to suffer? Holy crap, what kind of twisted logic was that,
Gu Yuheng, President Gu, Daddy Gu, it doesn’t hurt anymore, it doesn’t hurt! Please don’t come any closer! At this thought, Qi Yu’s branches and leaves trembled even harder.
Gu Yuheng took the trembling as a sign that the pain was severe, that he was responding to him. Without another word, he took out his supplies and prepared to treat the wound.
“It doesn’t hurt anymore, it’ll stop hurting soon.” He twisted off the bottle cap, took hold of Little Rose’s injured spot, and was about to drip the liquid on, when at that moment, a clear, ethereal boyish voice, still tinged with a hint of babyishness, rang out in the bedroom, carrying a sobbing note, utterly pitiful.
“Boo-hoo-hoo, please don’t kill me, it doesn’t hurt anymore, can you please not kill me.”
