“You see her? Dressed like a Christmas tree, and she still dares to show up here. How embarrassing.”

“The young heir of the Lin family must be blind. How could he ever date Song Tang?”

“Stop talking, she’s waking up.”

……

The noisy voices buzzed around her ears, making Song Tang’s head throb painfully.

She slowly opened her eyes and was instantly startled.

So many people.

All of them seemed to be looking at her.

Wasn’t she just sleeping? How did she end up in some unfamiliar banquet hall?

A golden crystal chandelier hung overhead, its light dazzling and almost blinding. The air was thick with the scent of red wine and overpowering perfume.

She sniffed lightly and nearly gagged.

That pungent smell… was coming from her.

Then another shock hit her.

She was wearing a bright red, sequin-covered short dress. The neckline plunged low, revealing far too much.

This was completely not her style.

Song Tang stood up and left the banquet hall, heading straight to the restroom.

When she saw herself in the mirror, she was startled again.

What kind of ghost was this?

A perfectly good face, ruined by such heavy, gaudy makeup.

Gradually, unfamiliar memories began flooding into her mind.

She had transmigrated.

Into the novel she had been reading before bed last night.

It was a sweet, overbearing CEO romance set in high society.

The story was simple: the male lead, the top young heir of the capital’s elite Lin family, falls in love with a gentle, pure-hearted girl, competes fiercely with a rival male lead, and ultimately wins the beauty.

The main plot was straightforward but enjoyable.

The only flaw was that the male lead had a former vicious first love, also named Song Tang.

But it was just a minor flaw, and Song Tang had still enjoyed the story.

She just never expected she would end up inside it.

So why wasn’t she the female lead?

Fine if not the female lead, even a background extra would’ve been acceptable.

Why did she have to become the male lead’s vicious ex-girlfriend?

Just because they shared the same name?

Song Tang pinched herself repeatedly until her skin turned red, but she did not wake up.

She had no choice but to accept the fact that she had truly entered the novel.

Since it had already happened, she might as well live properly.

According to the original owner’s memories, she had not yet been dumped by the male lead.

There was still half a month left before the breakup.

Soon enough.

That wasn’t difficult at all. She would just wait for the male lead to initiate the breakup.

When the time came, she would agree cleanly and completely, and they would go their separate ways.

In a corner of the banquet hall, several men sat together, slightly distanced from the lively crowd of clinking glasses and conversation.

Lin Yanchen leaned back in his chair, holding a glass of red wine, taking a slow sip.

“Yanchen, where’s your girlfriend? She’s gone,” Pei Qian asked, scanning the hall but failing to spot the flash of red sequins.

Lin Yanchen didn’t even lift his eyelids. “How would I know?”

Pei Qian clicked his tongue and looked at the man beside him. “Did you hear that? Does that sound like something a boyfriend should say?”

Gu Zhao, enjoying the spectacle, also glanced around.

Indeed, Song Tang was nowhere to be seen. That bright red outfit was too eye-catching to miss if she were there.

He chuckled. “At least you’re her boyfriend. Don’t you care where she is?”

Lin Yanchen finally looked up at them, his gaze cool.

“You two know exactly how this ‘girlfriend’ came to be.”

Pei Qian scratched his nose and laughed awkwardly. “Haha.”

Gu Zhao also lost interest in teasing and took a sip of wine to cover his discomfort.

“It’s fine, you’ll be breaking up in half a month anyway. Just endure it a little longer.”

Lin Yanchen said nothing, only set his glass down.

He thought of Song Tang’s increasingly obsessive behavior lately and the way she had been acting more and more irrational. A headache began to throb at his temples.

“I can’t wait until tomorrow to break up.”

Pei Qian shook his head. “That won’t work. It has to be after half a month.”

Gu Zhao nodded in agreement. “Exactly!”

Lin Yanchen sighed helplessly. “Fine, I’ll endure it a little longer.”

It was just half a month. It would pass quickly.

Song Tang left the restroom and walked back along the corridor.

The wind from the hallway brushed against her freshly cleansed face, cool and refreshing.

She couldn’t help but touch her cheek.

The original owner’s skin was genuinely excellent, smooth and fair without a single flaw.

It had been completely wasted under that heavy makeup.

The banquet hall doors were just ahead.

She pushed them open and walked in.

Everyone was busy, and no one paid attention to the person entering from the side.

The banquet had already reached its later stage. Most of the important conversations were done.

Guests stood in small groups, some chatting politely, some exchanging final contacts, others simply waiting for the event to end.

Song Tang walked through the crowd toward a corner.

She planned to find an inconspicuous seat and wait for Song Zhenkun to finish socializing so they could go home together.

Then, a young man happened to glance up, his eyes casually sweeping across the room before suddenly freezing on her.

“Hey, who’s that?” he nudged the person beside him.

The other person followed his gaze and paused.

“No idea! Never seen her before.”

“She’s gorgeous. A new guest?”

More and more people began to notice her.

“Who is that woman? Does anyone know her?”

“She’s stunning.”

Someone stared for a long time before suddenly exclaiming, “Wait… isn’t that Song Tang?”

“What? Song Tang? Which Song Tang?”

“Who else? Lin Yanchen’s girlfriend!”

“No way! Song Tang doesn’t look like that at all…”
