Song Tang returned home to find the living room lights still on.

After changing her shoes, she walked inside and saw Song Zhenkun sitting on the sofa, while the large TV in front of him was playing an animated show.

Two bears were bouncing around on the screen, while a bald man chased after them with a chainsaw.

This was the original owner’s father’s favorite cartoon, one he never got tired of watching.

Song Zhenkun was watching intently, holding an apple in his hand, already bitten halfway.

“Dad.”

Song Zhenkun turned around and saw his daughter, his face immediately breaking into a smile.

“My good daughter is back.”

He chewed on the apple and patted the seat beside him.

“Come sit. Did you have fun today?”

Song Tang walked over and sat down, leaning back into the sofa. “It was fun.”

Song Zhenkun looked at her, eyes bright.

“Was it a date with Lin Yanchen?”

“No. I went out with Cen Zhi.”

She would never go on a date with Lin Yanchen.

Song Zhenkun looked a little surprised. “Cen Zhi? Didn’t you say you didn’t like hanging out with her?”

His daughter had recently complained that Cen Zhi spoke too harshly and lacked emotional intelligence.

Song Tang paused.

So even Song Zhenkun knew she didn’t like hanging out with Cen Zhi before.

“We reconnected recently,” she explained.

Song Zhenkun nodded, his smile deepening.

“That’s good.”

“Cen Zhi is a good girl. Better than your other friends…”

He stopped himself before saying the word “good.”

He suddenly remembered that his daughter didn’t like hearing him criticize her friends.

Every time he did, she would argue with him.

Things like “You don’t understand,” “They’re nice to me,” “What right do you have to say that about them,” and it would always end in both of them being unhappy.

Song Zhenkun closed his mouth and went back to eating his apple.

Song Tang understood what he meant. “Dad.”

“Mm.” Song Zhenkun turned to look at her.

“I now think your opinion is correct,” Song Tang said. “Xi Shuting and the others really aren’t worth deep friendship.”

Song Zhenkun’s eyes slowly widened.

He could hardly believe he was hearing this from his daughter.

“My good girl!”

He raised his voice in excitement.

“You’ve finally seen it clearly. Didn’t I tell you? Xi Shuting and those people were only after your money. They never treated you as a real friend.”

“The only real friend you have is Cen Zhi.”

“Cen Zhi may speak bluntly, but she means well for you.”

Song Tang nodded repeatedly. “Mm, mm, mm. Dad is right.”

Song Zhenkun was very pleased with his daughter’s sudden enlightenment and even ate his apple faster.

After a moment, he suddenly remembered something and asked,

“You’ve been with Lin Yanchen for so long. Why haven’t I seen you go out together?”

Song Tang lied without blinking. “He’s busy with work.”

Song Zhenkun thought for a moment. “If he’s busy, you can bring him supper at his company.”

“I just passed by his company building earlier and saw Lin Yanchen’s car going in. He’s probably working overtime again.”

He spoke confidently.

“When I was dating your mom, she used to bring me supper all the time. I was so touched every time.”

“I always felt like I would marry your mom for life. Good girl, why don’t you try it too?”

Song Tang fell silent.

She and Lin Yanchen were not in a normal relationship. That kind of thing was absolutely out of the question.

Besides, bring supper to that cold, dead-faced man?

He wasn’t worthy of that blessing.

But facing Song Zhenkun’s expectant gaze, she could only force a smile.

“He doesn’t have the habit of eating supper.”

Song Zhenkun paused. “Really?”

“Yes.”

Song Tang stood up, ready to escape.

“Dad, I’m tired. I’m going upstairs to rest.”

Song Zhenkun nodded. “Alright, rest early. Young people shouldn’t stay up late.”

“Okay! You should rest early too, Dad.”

After walking a few steps upstairs, Song Tang suddenly remembered something and turned back.

“Oh right, Dad.”

“Tomorrow I’ll go to the company.”

Song Zhenkun was surprised. “What are you going to the company for?”

“To get a better understanding of our company. I haven’t been there in a while, so I want to take a look.”

“Haven’t been there in a while” was already a generous way of putting it.

The original owner only went to the company twice a year.

Once to deliver something for Song Zhenkun, and once to pick something up.

She absolutely disliked working and had no interest in company affairs. All she liked was spending money.

Song Zhenkun was deeply moved.

“My daughter has grown up.”

He had always hoped she would familiarize herself with the company so she could take over in the future, but she had shown no interest.

Over time, he had temporarily set the idea aside, thinking she would mature eventually.

He hadn’t expected her to understand so soon.

Standing on the stairs, Song Tang saw his emotional expression and softened slightly.

“Dad, don’t worry. From now on, I’ll help you run the company.”

Song Zhenkun nodded firmly. “Alright. I believe in you.”

“I’ll wait for you at the company tomorrow.”

Song Tang nodded and went upstairs.

Behind her, Boonie Bears continued bouncing on the TV screen.

Song Zhenkun sat on the sofa, watching his daughter disappear at the top of the stairs, feeling deeply relieved.

Song Tang was awakened by sunlight.

She groggily opened her eyes and reached for her phone on the bedside table.

10:01. She stared at the number for three seconds before her mind fully cleared.

Ten o’clock?

She shot up immediately.

She was supposed to go to the company with her father today.

She quickly threw off the blanket, put on slippers, rushed into the bathroom, washed up in a hurry, then ran to the wardrobe, randomly grabbed clothes, and put them on.

While tying her hair, she ran downstairs.

“Dad~”

The living room was empty.

No one there. Song Tang stood at the staircase, confused.

“Miss, you’re awake?”

The butler’s voice came from the side.

Song Tang turned. “Where’s my dad?”

“Mr. Song left at eight o’clock.”

“Eight?” Song Tang widened her eyes. “Why didn’t he wake me up?”

The butler smiled.

“Mr. Song saw that you were sleeping soundly and didn’t want to disturb you. He let you rest and went to the company himself.”

Song Tang was momentarily speechless.

Her father left at eight. What about waiting to go to the company together?

So because he didn’t want to wake her, he just left?

In the end, he still didn’t believe she would actually go to work.

He thought last night was just a passing whim.

Spoiling a daughter too much really was not good.

Song Tang walked straight toward the dining room.

She would go to the company after breakfast.

She quickly finished a sandwich and a glass of milk, grabbed her bag, and headed out.

The butler hesitated before asking, “Where is Miss going in such a hurry?”

Without turning back, Song Tang replied, “To the company.”

So the young miss really was going to the company.

The butler was both shocked and moved, almost teary-eyed.

She had grown up. The young miss had finally become sensible.
