Chu Ningwu recognized the three people outside the door. They were the original owner’s mother and her two twin younger brothers.

One was called Chu Yuyao, the other Chu Yucan. Both were in third grade at Jing City No. 2 Primary School.

The novel did not go into much detail about the original owner’s family, so she did not know them well. But anyone could see they had come with bad intentions.Full novel: Transmigrated as the Scheming Pregnant Ex of the Heirless Male Lead — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Chu Ningwu searched through the original owner’s memories and felt confused.

The original owner had studied hard and managed to get into Jing University using her own efforts and her local residency status.

As for the two younger brothers, they were the kind who could score thirty nine in math in third grade. Yet in their mother’s words, she was supposedly jealous of how outstanding they were.

Outstanding in what way?

Their physical development was obvious enough. Their chubby little faces matched their appetite of four meat buns per meal.

At this age, they should already be able to buy breakfast themselves. Was it really necessary to have their sister deliver food every day?

Chu Ningwu frowned slightly and had no desire to deal with them.

She was not the original owner and would not be bound by that thin blood relationship.

Besides, these family members clearly were not grateful people.

A sudden ache spread in her chest. She knew it was not her own emotion, but a lingering reaction from the original owner.

What had she felt when being scolded like this by her own family?

Such a beautiful and talented girl, a graduate of Jing University, yet she ended up on that path in the novel. Had she struggled and cried alone at night?

Chu Ningwu could have simply ignored them.

But before sleeping, she had ordered medicine delivery and a box of contraceptive pills was on the way. She still had to go out and get it.

They would probably get bored and leave soon.

She could just sit and eat her buns while waiting.

However, she clearly overestimated some people’s sense of shame.

While Chu’s mother shouted, the two younger brothers rummaged around outside.

They rolled up the dirty, dusty doormat, stepped on it, then jumped away, letting it slam back down and kick up clouds of dust.

Neither of them cared about the dirt, and their mother indulged them completely.

While playing, one of the chubby boys suddenly fell.

Chu’s mother immediately panicked, forgetting her scolding as she hurried to pick him up and comfort him.

The middle aged woman crouched there holding the fallen boy, while the other one climbed onto her back and treated her like a horse.

Chu Ningwu could not bear to watch any longer.

She decided to go out and make things clear. She would cut ties with them, stop sending money home, and they should stop coming to bother her.

Just as the door creaked open, a sleek black Maybach stopped at the entrance of the residential complex.

The sleepy security guard was startled awake by the horn. He removed the towel from his head and walked out, muttering.

“What is this, can’t you see cars are not allowed inside. Who is making noise like this, disturbing everyone. I will take a photo and post it in the group chat…”

The moment he saw the license plate, his words stopped abruptly.

Jing A·88888.

Even the king himself had arrived.

The guard’s steps turned awkward as he approached the driver respectfully. “Sir, the roads here are too narrow for the car. You will have to walk in.”

“I will get off here. Go park the car.”

The man in the back seat spoke coldly from the shadows.

Xiao Liu nodded and stepped out.

The car door opened. A pair of spotless black leather shoes with red soles touched the ground. A man in a black suit stepped out.

The guard stared in awe.

This was no ordinary rich man.

He was even more handsome than the actors on his granddaughter’s posters. His presence was unmatched.

He quickly stepped forward. “Sir, who are you looking for. Which building, I can take you.”

Huo Zhi Chuan frowned slightly at being called that, then said coldly, “Building seventy four.”

“Right away.” The guard eagerly led the way.

The polished shoes stepped onto the rough concrete, picking up dust that stood out against the glossy surface.

Before they even reached the building, they could hear a woman shouting upstairs.

“You ungrateful girl, how dare you talk back. I said you pushed your brother, so you did. Apologize now.”

“What do you mean cutting ties. You came from my womb, you owe me for life. Without me raising you, would you have what you have today?”

“In a few days you better send money home. Remember that. Otherwise I will come here every day and let everyone see what an ungrateful person you are.”

Amid the harsh voice, Huo Zhi Chuan clearly caught the softer voice trying to argue back.

He frowned and quickened his steps.

The guard struggled to keep up behind him.

Chu Ningwu was being grabbed by the arm and shaken, feeling like her brain was about to come loose.

She had barely opened the door when her mother accused her of deliberately causing her brother to fall.

Claiming she had placed the dangerous mat on purpose.

Chu Ningwu had only replied that no one else slipped, only her son.

That was enough to make the woman explode, insisting she pushed him and demanding an apology.

Chu Ningwu finally snapped and said she would cut ties.

That only made things worse. Chu’s mother lunged forward and grabbed her before she could retreat.

Chu Ningwu felt like she was drowning in spit as she turned her head away.

Then she met a pair of eyes.

Cold and dark, long and narrow, completely emotionless.

Her lashes trembled. Her nose stung as tears slipped down.

It was over.

She had been caught again.

This time not just her, but her entire family was dragged along with her.
