“Old Xiao family doesn’t want an idiot son!”
Those words were like a drop of water falling into a pot of boiling oil—everything exploded at once.
When the women of Xiao Village heard this, how could any of them still not understand?
Last night, Dapang had just been discovered to be intellectually disabled, and today he was gone.
It was obvious—the old Xiao family despised him and had deliberately abandoned him!
But what was even more vicious was that they were now trying to frame Xiao Dalang and his wife.
Lin Shi and Fan Shi immediately stepped forward to speak up for them.
Lin Shi said, “Village head, Third Uncle, Dapang must have been abandoned by the old Xiao family themselves! They had an idiot child, so they were probably afraid people would say their family line is flawed!”
Fan Shi added, “Village head, Third Uncle, it’s obvious—the old Xiao family abandoned Dapang themselves and are now trying to blame Xiao Dalang and his wife!”
Madam Yang and Qian Shi never expected their carefully laid plan to be exposed so suddenly. Even more unexpectedly, Xiao Dalang and his wife—who had always been too timid to say a word—were suddenly so bold!
Madam Yang glared viciously at Lin Shi and Fan Shi and snapped indiscriminately, “You two worn-out sluts who’ve been ridden by a thousand men and slept with ten thousand! What did those ingrates promise you to make you help them like this?!”
Qian Shi quickly followed, pointing at Song Jin, who was sitting on the ground catching her breath and watching the drama unfold:
“The one who gave them benefits—is her!”
Suddenly accused for no reason, Song Jin let out a cold laugh.
“I advise you to take that finger back,” she said coolly.
But Qian Shi didn’t withdraw her hand. Instead, she sneered, “I won’t. What are you going to do about it? Did I hit the mark? Feeling guilty—ahhh!”
She didn’t even finish speaking before a short axe flew straight toward her face.
Song Jin hadn’t intended to kill her—she wasn’t interested in staining her hands with someone like Qian Shi.
The axe looked like it was aimed at her face, but at the last moment it thunked into the ground an inch from her feet.
Qian Shi had been arrogant just moments before, but when she looked down, she screamed in terror.
“Ahhh!”
Her eyes rolled back and she fainted on the spot.
“Tch. That’s all it takes to act so boldly?” Song Jin said disdainfully.
She walked over, pulled her short axe out of the ground, and casually hooked it back onto her belt.
Before leaving, she glanced at the stunned old Xiao family and said to the village head and Third Uncle, “Go on, I’ll just watch from the side.”
The village head and Third Uncle’s faces turned green.
Normally they would have reprimanded her, but Song Jin had just saved the entire village. Without her early warning, none of them would have survived the rat swarm.
The two elders exchanged a look, both coming to the same decision:
It was time to deal with the old Xiao family. They could no longer be indulged.
They then turned to Xiao Yanzhi and asked quietly, “Second Young Master, do we proceed as previously discussed? No regrets?”
No one understood why they were asking him—especially the old Xiao family, including Xiao Dalang’s couple.
But before anyone could react, Xiao Yanzhi, sitting in the cart with a face as cold as ice, looked at his biological father Xiao Fugui and said:
“No regrets. Not worth it.”
The village head and Third Uncle sighed again upon hearing this.
After a moment, the village head turned to the nearby team leaders and ordered firmly:
“Except for Xiao Dalang’s family of four—tie up everyone else in the old Xiao family!”
At that command, before the old Xiao family could even react, six or seven team leaders moved in and bound them all, lining them up and forcing them to kneel.
Even the unconscious Qian Shi and the unmarried Xiao Jinlian were tied up.
“Don’t touch me! Ah!” Xiao Jinlian struggled and screamed, humiliated as she was grabbed by men.
But no matter how she screamed, the team leaders showed no mercy and tied her up anyway.
“Get off me!” Madam Yang glared fiercely at the man forcing her to kneel.
“Why are you tying me up? I didn’t do anything!” Xiao Yongkang struggled angrily, insisting he was innocent.
In his mind, the real culprits were Xiao Yongtai, Xiao Fugui, Madam Yang, and Qian Shi. It had nothing to do with him.
Xiao Fugui, seeing the village head’s decisive action, immediately understood that this time they were serious.
Afraid of being expelled from the clan, he quickly put on a pitiful act:
“Village head, our old Xiao family didn’t want to abandon Dapang either! We raised him after all, he’s still a boy! But he’s an idiot! For the sake of survival and saving food during this famine journey, we couldn’t keep him!”
He had just confessed everything.
But it wasn’t enough.
Xiao Fugui suddenly turned and kicked Madam Yang hard in the face, cursing, “It’s all this stupid woman’s fault! Who told you to frame Dalang and Xu Shi? They worked like oxen for you for so many years—such good sons-in-law and daughters-in-law, and you drove them away! Who’s going to serve you now?!”
Madam Yang was kicked so hard she was stunned, eyes almost popping out as she stared at him in disbelief.
Xiao Fugui then kicked her again on the other side.
“Still staring? I’ll divorce you if you keep it up!”
Now both sides of her face bore matching footprints. A perfect set.
Madam Yang finally snapped out of her shock and screamed like a madwoman:
“Xiao old dog! You dare hit me!”
Bound and enraged, she lunged like a wild animal and bit toward Xiao Fugui’s ear.
The village head and Third Uncle were already tired of watching this farce and waited coldly until the two had torn into each other enough before speaking again.
Third Uncle said impatiently, “Enough! Xiao Fugui, it’s too late to act now! If you hadn’t done it, none of this would have happened!”
The village head then ordered the team leaders again, voice stern:
“Search them. Find the Xiao family household registry and hand it to Xiao Dalang’s family!”
“Today, I will personally kick this bunch of human scum out of the fleeing group!”
