Wen Xiayue was finally woken up by a phone ringtone.

She picked up her phone groggily and glanced at it. The screen showed two words: “Father Wen.”

Still half-asleep, she subconsciously tapped to answer.Full novel: Transmigrated as the Vicious Wife of A Top Conglomerate — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The next second, a man’s roaring voice exploded from the speaker.

“Wen Xiayue! You still have the face to answer the phone?!”

She moved the phone away slightly and frowned.

Her ears hurt.

“Do you know what you’ve done to Wenrou? She fell and almost broke her leg! That’s your sister! You’ve ruined her—how is she supposed to compete in the dance competition now? Why are you so vicious?!”

Wen Xiayue blinked.

She finally woke up.

This was the original owner’s biological father.

The voice on the other end continued without stopping, furious and righteous, as if she were some irredeemable criminal.

“…Wenrou has been dancing since childhood, do you know how much she’s suffered? She is the pride of the Wen family! And you? You come back and target her again and again, and now you even caused her to fall and break her leg! Do you have any conscience?!”

“Sir, are you done yet?”

There was a cup of warm milk on the bedside table. Wen Xiayue reached out, touched it, then picked it up and took a small sip.

The man on the phone clearly froze.

“What did you just call me?”

“Sir, of course. What else should I call you? You never raised me anyway—should I call you ‘Dad’?”

“Wen Xiayue! Get back here right now and apologize to Wenrou!!!”

Wen Xiayue decisively hung up.

What nonsense.

She immediately sat up in bed, phone in hand.

The original owner was truly stupid.

Her biological parents clearly didn’t like her. They thought she wasn’t good enough compared to their adopted daughter Wenrou. Human bias existed from the start—and once set, it only deepened with time.

Yet the original owner still insisted on pleasing them, clinging to them desperately, even though her adoptive parents treated her a hundred times better.

The bedroom door suddenly opened.

Qi Lanzhou walked in from outside.

The phone rang again—Father Wen again.

Wen Xiayue directly rejected the call, blocked him, then blocked everyone related to the male and female leads.

Qi Lanzhou watched her actions, finding them strange.

In the past, Wen Xiayue cared deeply about these people.

“Why did you block everyone?”

She looked up at him.

“They say I’m the one who caused Wenrou to fall.”

Qi Lanzhou’s eyes darkened slightly.

“Didn’t you? You wanted to abort the child and frame her for it.”

“Of course not!”

Although the original owner didn’t want the child, she wasn’t stupid enough to use such a method. Falling from such a height would have risked both mother and child dying.

What actually happened was that Wenrou herself lost her footing and fell down the stairs. She happened to bump into Wen Xiayue, knocking her leg, and they both rolled down a bit.

Then both were sent to the hospital.

Somehow… she ended up transmigrating into the body.

Anyway, now that she was here, she wouldn’t be as foolish as the original owner and continue trying to please those people.

Qi Lanzhou nodded and didn’t pursue the matter further. Truth or not—it didn’t matter.

“You believe me?”

“As long as it’s what you say, I believe it,” Qi Lanzhou replied.

Wen Xiayue knelt on the bed and shuffled forward, wrapping her arms around his waist.

“Honey, do you realize you sound like a romance novel CEO who gets scammed out of everything?”

Qi Lanzhou’s lips curved slightly.

“Then are you lying to me?”

Wen Xiayue thought for a moment and shook her head seriously.

“No. You’re too good. Lying to you would be a crime.”

Qi Lanzhou reached out and gently ruffled her hair.

His gaze flickered, as if lost in distant memories.

She had once said something similar before.

Wen Xiayue squirmed in his arms and looked up.

“Hubby, can I go home for dinner?”

“Home?”

“To the Wen family.”

He didn’t speak.

“Don’t misunderstand—it’s my adoptive parents. I haven’t eaten with them in a long time.”

Ever since she returned to the wealthy Wen family, she hadn’t shared a single meal with her adoptive parents.

In the novel’s plot, after Wen Xiayue was sent to a mental hospital, her adoptive parents worked hard selling fish to raise money to bring her out. Even though that money was eventually taken by the female lead, their love for their adopted daughter was real.

Now that she was Wen Xiayue, she had a responsibility to repay them.

Seeing Qi Lanzhou silent, she got a little annoyed and pushed him away.

“What? Do you look down on them because they sell fish? What’s wrong with selling fish? They work honestly, feed the family, raised me, sent me to a top school—what’s not respectable about that?”

“If you look down on them, why did you marry me? I was raised by them—I am their daughter. Looking down on them is looking down on me.”

Qi Lanzhou’s expression cooled slightly.

“When did I ever say I looked down on them?”

“Then what do you mean?”

She puffed her cheeks like an angry frog.

“Wen Xiayue, your temper seems to be getting worse recently.”

“I’m not angry! I’m not!”

She would never admit it.

“Who told you to keep quiet just now?”

Qi Lanzhou raised a brow.

“I wasn’t speaking because I was thinking.”

“Thinking about what?”

“About what to bring when meeting your parents for the first time.”

He paused.

“What does your mother like? What does your father like? Their hobbies? What they enjoy eating? What they don’t like? I need to think it through.”

“If it were the other Wen family, it would be easy—just buy luxury goods. But these are your real parents. I need to be more thoughtful.”

Wen Xiayue fell silent.

“I don’t really know what they like either… but my mom plays mahjong, and my dad… sells fish.”

The novel never described their preferences in detail, and the original owner never cared to find out.

Yet somehow, she remembered her mother played mahjong.

Strange.

Qi Lanzhou reached out and patted her head again.

“Alright. We’ll go tomorrow.”

……

After leaving the room, Qi Lanzhou’s gentle expression vanished instantly, replaced by cold composure.

Wen Xiayue had changed.

Since waking up in the hospital, she was like a completely different person.

Before, her eyes were full of disgust and impatience whenever she looked at him—as if he were beneath her.

But now…

She called him “honey.”

She praised his looks.

She clung to him.

She got angry just because he stayed silent.

So then…

Was she planning to wrap him in sweet poison?

First, gain his trust. Then take his money. Then poison him—or use some other method—to kill him and leave?

Meanwhile, Wen Xiayue was hungry.

She left the room, planning to find the kitchen for food.

But the house was simply too big.
