“Was there anything else you wanted to buy?”

“Two bottles of Snowflake Cream, two bottles of clam oil—one for Mom and one for me. I also want to buy a notebook for Dad.” Yan Jin’er had actually wanted to buy better things for Father Song and Mother Song, but her financial means did not allow it.

After going to the counter and buying everything one by one, Yan Jin’er’s salary was only a little over four yuan left.Full novel: Transmigrated into a 1970s Novel: I’m Great at Lazing Around and Watching the Drama — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

It was fine. At least she still had a little over four yuan left—she could still live on stubbornly. Yan Jin’er comforted herself inwardly.

“Don’t you have anything you want to buy?” Yan Jin’er noticed that Wen Qingyu hadn’t bought anything at all. Everything he was carrying belonged to her.

“Yes. I’ll buy some food.”

When they reached the food counter, Wen Qingyu bought some sticky rice cakes, osmanthus cakes, and a jin of White Rabbit milk candies, then stopped buying.

“It’s about time. I’ll send you back.” Wen Qingyu looked at the sky darkening slightly and felt it was too late for her to go back alone, as her parents would worry.

Wen Qingyu took Yan Jin’er along a shorter path and stopped halfway.

“Baby, let’s go pick something up before going back.” After saying this, Wen Qingyu walked ahead, leading her into a small alley.

“I have a friend who lives here. He’s a long-distance truck driver. I asked him to bring something back for me—you should like it.” Wen Qingyu spoke softly as he walked, afraid she might be scared.

Yan Jin’er had originally felt a little afraid, but when she heard there would be things she liked, her eyes immediately lit up, and she followed Wen Qingyu with anticipation.

They arrived at the entrance of a small single-story house, and Wen Qingyu knocked on the door in a pattern—four long knocks and two short ones.

Footsteps sounded, and the man opened the door, looking at Wen Qingyu with a cheerful expression.

“Qingyu brother, you’re finally here. Come in quickly.” The man was tall and strong, but he looked a little simple-minded, his smiling face making people let down their guard easily.

Yan Jin’er, however, could not relax. Even though he seemed harmless, his build looked like he could knock two of her flying with one blow.

After entering the small courtyard, the man finally noticed Yan Jin’er behind Wen Qingyu.

“Heh heh heh, Qingyu brother, is this your little wife?” He Gang looked at Wen Qingyu in surprise.

“He Gang, this is my partner, Yan Jin’er.” Wen Qingyu introduced her with a smile.

“Jin’er, just call him Brother He Gang.”

“Hello, Brother He Gang.” Yan Jin’er obediently greeted him.

He Gang had not expected Wen Qingyu’s partner to be such a cute young girl. She looked like she wasn’t even up to Wen Qingyu’s shoulder height.

He Gang found it a little hard to understand, but he accepted it.

“I brought back some fruit from the Southern Region this time. See if there’s anything you want.”

Yan Jin’er and Wen Qingyu followed He Gang into a small room and found it filled with a large bag of various fruits.

Yan Jin’er had not eaten fruit for a long time—it was too hard to buy. Whenever it arrived in stores, it was quickly sold out.

Seeing so much fruit, Yan Jin’er immediately picked a small portion of what she wanted without hesitation, and Wen Qingyu also picked a small portion.

The money was given by Wen Qingyu, so Yan Jin’er only needed to stand obediently beside him.

Wen Qingyu chatted a few more words with He Gang before leading Yan Jin’er away.

This time, they went straight to Yan Jin’er’s home without stopping. Wen Qingyu handed her the things she had bought.

“Baby, I’ll come pick you up tomorrow morning. Don’t eat breakfast—I’ll bring you meat buns.”

“But if you wake up so early, won’t you be too tired? Maybe I should just go to work by myself.” Although Yan Jin’er wanted the meat buns, she also didn’t want Wen Qingyu to be so tired, and she could go to work alone just fine.

“Baby, I’m your partner. These are all things I want to do for you. You can ask me for anything—you can rely on me.” Wen Qingyu looked at Yan Jin’er, who clearly still didn’t treat him like a partner, his expression carrying helplessness.

Yan Jin’er was indeed not used to having a partner. She wasn’t used to someone outside her parents and family giving her unconditional care, and she also felt that their relationship had come too suddenly.

“It’s okay. We’ll take it slow. Go inside.” Wen Qingyu patted Yan Jin’er’s head and looked down at her. His gaze was as gentle as water, and the deep affection in his eyes was completely undisguised, surging like waves.

Yan Jin’er looked straight into his eyes and seemed to get lost in them.

“Okay.” Yan Jin’er smiled. The corners of her lips lifted, and her eyes curved. It was a very relaxed, genuine smile.

“Yuyu, see you tomorrow!” Yan Jin’er said as she turned and entered her home.

Wen Qingyu remained standing there, staring at her back for a long time without regaining his senses.
