The moment Enzo was sure Riven left, he went straight into the space. He had started propping up a few furs to look like he was in bed, just in case. So, he made sure to do this before going in.

Once inside, he relaxed. Riven being so close scrambled his mind a little. Swearing off men and then finding an attractive, tempting one is like being thirsty, seeing water, and forcing yourself not to drink.

His hands slapped his cheeks, snapping him out of any lustful thoughts that suddenly appeared. He told himself he should focus on the space.Full novel: Transmigrated into a Beast World Novel As A Background Character [BL] — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The things he had put in were piled up in a corner. He didn’t check on them but walked over to the sweet potatoes. He bent down to look at the newly grown leaves. A few days ago, he noticed they were growing faster than before.

As a crop that should take about four months to grow, taking one week to spread so much was already miraculous. But now, they seemed to have taken on a whole new life.

He didn’t mind. The more sweet potatoes, the more food he had for the winter. There was still less than a month, and the place was getting colder.

Enzo cursed Rin a little for not thinking about making clothes out of the furs yet. He deduced that Rin must like looking at the men wearing loincloths, because they leave nothing to the imagination. The bulge was definitely prominent.

Rolling his eyes, he decided that he would make his own when the time came.

After cursing Rin a few more times, he took stock of the items in his space.

He put the four plants with beast energy together, then he sorted the seeds. For some plants, he took them from the root. They were quickly planted in the half acre on the opposite end, away from the potatoes.

As for the rice, it took him a while to take the head of the rice and thresh it himself. He read somewhere that he needed to soak the rice for it to germinate, so he found a cracked bowl, filled it with water, placed a few inside, and left them in the space.

Smiling, he continued to deal with the rice. The task of cleaning would wait for another day. The items in the space showed no sign of decay, so he was relieved to leave them there.

Next, he checked the three plants. He hadn’t planted any of the others yet. He wanted to check the appraisal again.

The first he checked was a plant with thick, twisted roots and dark green leaves with faint blue veins.

The next was a vine with dark red veins running through the leaves.

The more Enzo learned about these plants, the more fascinated he became. He was a bit upset that sub-beasts couldn’t use it. If they could, he would have wanted to try using the plants.

His fingers stroked the creeper. For a moment, he wondered if he could try it. He decided against it. He had inexplicably come here, which meant he died somehow; he didn’t feel like going through that again.

There wasn’t a guarantee that the same thing would happen again.

He noticed that one of the primary uses was a recovery potion. Gato only told him about the body tempering.

Thinking about the appraisal ability, he realized one thing. The ability could tell him about other medicines the plant was used for.

It didn’t necessarily show what he knew.

This was something he should have figured out from the first beast energy plant. He hadn’t known what a scarlet mushroom was the first time he saw it. Yet, the appraisal he saw included the name.

He wondered briefly whether it would change over time, maybe showing more and more information if he saw more beast energy plants.

As excited as he was, he knew he could only take things one at a time.

He decided to plant all four of them, including the mushroom. He had pulled it out of the ground before. There was a root system, so it should be possible to plant it.

According to what he and Gato talked about earlier, he gave each plant enough space to be the king of its own plot.

He smiled and lay on his makeshift bed. His eyes were calm as he looked at the half-acre before him. This was his security. He might not have much now, but he didn’t believe he couldn’t find more.

What worried him was whether he would have enough space for the things he found in the future. Not only medicinal herbs, but regular vegetables and fruits.

He would leave some outside for when the tribe started planting, but his real fortune would be in the space.

Enzo fell asleep thinking about his future wealth. And outside, a pair of golden eyes stared at Enzo’s hut.
