25 – Chapter
Demon Cultivators Can Also Be Good People
“Uncle-Master, my master has been waiting for you for a while.”
When the flying ship stopped above the sect’s protective formation, Shen Qingyu stood on his flying sword, waiting right in front of the formation.
He Xuan thought something had happened, his expression darkening. “What’s the matter?”
Shen Qingyu’s expression was strange, as if he wanted to speak but hesitated. “There is something, but it’s something strange.”
After saying this, he directly jumped onto the flying ship.
Once aboard, he happened to see Mu Lingyan sitting there fiddling with a lantern.
Mu Lingyan was wearing a moonlit skirt, looking less seductive and more ethereal. She was playing with the object in her hands, seemingly very interested, not even sparing him an extra glance.
Suppressing the discomfort in his heart, Shen Qingyu had the flying ship continue on its way.
Then he quickly explained to He Xuan.
“Not long ago, dozens of core disciples from the Cangwu Sect were kidnapped by people from the Demon Realm. The Cangwu Sect Leader then sent two elders to rescue them. But today, Yan Qing received a message from the Sect Leader—those demon cultivators actually returned the Cangwu Sect disciples completely unharmed!”
Mu Lingyan’s hand paused, and He Xuan glanced over.
He asked Shen Qingyu coldly, “And then? Isn’t that a good thing?”
Shen Qingyu’s expression turned strange again: “It is indeed a good thing, but on the way back, those demon cultivators acted as if they were possessed, always standing up for justice and doing many good deeds!”
“Demon cultivators acting as if they were possessed”—this phrase sounded utterly ridiculous no matter how you heard it.
Mu Lingyan couldn’t help but think to herself.
Ruan Jiujiu’s jaw nearly dropped to the floor: “What? Demon cultivators acting chivalrously??”
Shen Qingyu’s expression looked as if he were constipated: “Although it’s hard to believe, it’s indeed true.”
Mu Lingyan raised the corner of her eye, unable to help but think.
Those guys look quite fierce, and they protested with their words, but their execution ability is actually this strong!
What a bunch of good demons!
While Mu Lingyan was still thinking about how to reward her subordinates, Shen Qingyu’s next words made her jaw drop.
“We suspect the Demon Realm must be brewing some shocking and enormous conspiracy, which is why they’re acting this way, creating a false front to deceive us!” he said with conviction.
Mu Lingyan: ??
I conspire your grandmother’s leg!
The feeling of wholeheartedly doing good deeds but not being acknowledged is truly bitter!
“Senior Brother Shen, I dare not agree with your words.”
He Xuan and the others looked at Mu Lingyan, who had suddenly spoken.
Mu Lingyan stood up and slowly walked to stand before Shen Qingyu.
Her beautiful phoenix eyes stared directly at him.
“If we are the first to think of everything with narrow-minded emotions, how can there be peace in the world? Moreover, demon cultivators were once cultivators too, but they fell into the demonic path due to inner demons or certain obsessions. Just as there are unkind people, demons are not lacking in kind ones either.”
Her words left Shen Qingyu and Ruan Jiujiu stunned, while He Xuan seemed lost in thought.
Shen Qingyu frowned. “Junior Sister Lingyan, demons are demons. No matter how many good deeds they do now, it cannot erase the evil they’ve committed in the past. Furthermore, since they have already fallen into demonhood, it means their Dao heart was not firm enough, and they will remain dangerous in the future.”
Just as Mu Lingyan was about to argue further, she was interrupted by He Xuan’s cool voice.
“The Four Directions Hall has arrived. Disciples, you may return to Worry-Free Peak first.”
“Disciples obey,” Mu Lingyan and Ruan Jiujiu said in unison.
Watching He Xuan enter the Four Directions Hall, the flying ship turned around and headed toward Worry-Free Peak.
Mu Lingyan remained silent the entire time, lost in thought.
They didn’t know that, for the Immortal Sects now, the greatest threat was not the Demon Realm.
Because the Demon Venerable was her.
Currently, the greatest threats were the monster king and the Ghost King.
These two individuals were ambitious and had long harbored the desire to make the Boundless Continent the first and only small world in history to be dominated by a heretical sect.
“Senior Sister, I think you’re right.”
Mu Lingyan snapped out of her thoughts and turned her head in confusion. “Xiao Jiu, what did you say?”
Ruan Jiujiu continued, “I think what Senior Sister said is right.”
She glanced around and whispered, “Actually, I’ve met good Demon Cultivators before.”
“When I was little, I ran out of the protective sect formation because I was being playful and almost got devoured by an evil spirit. A Demon Cultivator passing by saved me. I still remember him—he was really good-looking!” As she spoke, her little face actually flushed suspiciously.
“There was such a thing? I didn’t know. I’m glad Junior Sister is alright.”
Ruan Jiujiu stuck out her tongue and playfully blinked. “How could I dare to tell anyone? It was my fault for being playful. If Master found out, he’d definitely punish me with wall-facing meditation.”
Mu Lingyan scratched her chin with a finger. “Hmm, I think I need to inform Master about this!”
“Senior Sister, you’re so mean!” Ruan Jiujiu snorted, turned around, and ran off. After running ahead, she turned back and made a face.
“I’m never talking to mean Senior Sister again!”
Mu Lingyan stood behind, chuckling softly. Her mood instantly brightened thanks to Ruan Jiujiu’s few words.
After the Flying Ship traveled for a while, they arrived at Worry-Free Peak. Ruan Jiujiu dashed off and disappeared again.
Upon reaching the peak, Mu Lingyan took a lantern from her Storage Ring and hung it on the apricot tree in the courtyard and at several corners of the palace.
Stepping back a few paces, she snapped her fingers, quite satisfied with her handiwork.
“This is much better! It’s lively and colorful!”
“Perfect!”
System: “Host, aren’t you afraid Immortal Lord He Xuan will throw you off Worry-Free Peak?”
“Of course I am! If he throws me out, I’ll just run back!”
System: You’re quite something!
Mu Lingyan clapped her hands and turned back to her small pavilion.
After soaking in the Spirit Pool for a while, she changed her clothes and went out to pick some osmanthus flowers. Returning, she made several batches of lotus root powder osmanthus cakes.
Mu Lingyan was someone who particularly cared about presentation.
Regardless of whether they tasted good or not, they had to look good!
She meticulously carved a few little white rabbits and arranged them beside the porcelain plate, nodding in satisfaction before placing them into a food box.
First, she flew to the peak and left a portion at He Xuan’s palace.
Then she went to Ruan Jiujiu’s room and left another plate. After a moment’s thought, she headed to Ye Wanxing’s cave dwelling.
Sensing the fluctuations of the cave’s protective barrier, the young man’s voice came from inside.
“Senior Sister?”
The barrier in front of the cave was lifted, and the young man stood up and came out, his bright eyes shining intently.
“Senior Sister, what brings you here?”
Mu Lingyan lifted the food box slightly and smiled. “I made some osmanthus cakes and delivered portions to Master and Junior Sister. I didn’t want to disturb your cultivation, but in the end, I thought it would be better to come and check on you!”
Ye Wanxing pursed his lips shyly. “Senior Sister is so thoughtful. Thank you for the trouble!”
The young man had lips red as cherries and teeth white as jade, with light amber eyes. Every word and action brimmed with spiritual energy.
Mu Lingyan handed over the food box. “Then I won’t disturb your cultivation any longer. Cultivate well! When you reach the middle stage of Foundation Establishment, I’ll give you a reward!”
Ye Wanxing’s eyes widened, filled with delight. “Really?”
“Of course! Alright, you should go back and cultivate now!”
“Yes, thank you, Senior Sister!” The young man flashed a bright smile, then turned and entered the cave.
Mu Lingyan smiled and returned to her pavilion, where she began studying the art of artifact forging.
…
He Xuan returned from the Four Directions Hall to Worry-Free Peak, nearly stumbling as he struggled to keep his balance.
When he finally realized that the chaotic mess before him was indeed his own residence,
he pressed his fingers to his forehead in agony.
“Such bizarre taste—it truly isn’t something a member of the Immortal Sect could have produced.”
