How to Give Up the Demon Venerable Position? Waiting Online, Quite Urgent!

The next day.

Mu Lingyan, having stayed awake all night, woke up early to prepare breakfast for He Xuan.Full novel: Transmigrated into a Book, My Blackened Master is Determined to Kill Me. — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

After hesitating for a moment outside He Xuan’s door, she knocked on her Master’s room.

A cold voice came from inside.

“Who is it?”

Mu Lingyan pursed her lips, her tone unconsciously softening. “Master, I have prepared breakfast for you. Should I bring it to your room, or will you come downstairs to eat?”

The person inside remained silent for a while.

“Go downstairs first. I will join you shortly.”

Even though He Xuan couldn’t see her, Mu Lingyan respectfully bowed and said, “Yes, Master.”

As she descended to the first floor, the innkeeper gave her a flirtatious wink.

Her bright red lips silently formed six words.

“Greetings, Demon Venerable.”

Mu Lingyan stumbled.

How could she give up the Demon Venerable position?

Waiting online, quite urgent!

Mu Lingyan waved at the innkeeper, signaling her to keep it low-key and not make a fuss.

The innkeeper covered her mouth with a laugh, her gaze growing increasingly bold and suggestive.

“Uh…” Mu Lingyan was utterly speechless.

“Senior Sister, what are you two doing?”

Ruan Jiujiu came downstairs and saw her senior sister exchanging glances with the innkeeper.

Mu Lingyan turned around with a gentle smile. “It’s nothing. I was just asking the innkeeper to prepare breakfast. Did you rest well last night, Junior Sister?”

“Mm, very well!”

Ruan Jiujiu spoke politely in front of Mu Lingyan.

Her tone was lively but not as unrestrained as when she was with Ye Wanxing.

“Xiao Jiu, go wait by the window. Once Master comes down, we can all eat together.”

“Yes, Senior Sister!” Ruan Jiujiu curiously glanced at the innkeeper.

The innkeeper blew her a kiss.

Startled, Ruan Jiujiu scampered off to the window like a frightened rabbit.

Mu Lingyan frowned and said a few words to the innkeeper, then turned and bumped into Ye Wanxing, who was also coming downstairs.

“Senior Sister!” he greeted respectfully.

Mu Lingyan smiled softly. “Mm, go join your junior sister. We’ll eat together in a moment.”

“Senior Sister, don’t you usually never eat with us?”

Ye Wanxing casually picked up a spirit fruit from the counter and took a bite, chewing as he spoke in confusion.

Mu Lingyan paused. It seemed the “Mu Lingyan” she had written was indeed a cold and reticent character.

She smiled faintly and explained, “After encountering the Demon Creature yesterday, I had a sudden realization. I want to spend more time with my junior brothers and sisters to guard against another surprise attack.”

“Oh, I see!”

Ye Wanxing nodded repeatedly. Before leaving, he mustered his courage and awkwardly blurted out:

“Senior Sister, you look really beautiful when you smile! You should smile more often!”

With that, he dashed off and huddled with Ruan Jiujiu, both covering their mouths and giggling.

Mu Lingyan was taken aback, a slight smile curling at the corner of her lips. She tossed ten Spirit Stones to the innkeeper.

How could the innkeeper dare to accept them?

This was their Demon Venerable, after all!

But under Mu Lingyan’s gaze, she reluctantly took them.

Seeing the innkeeper’s compliance, Mu Lingyan turned and walked toward the table.

The three of them had just sat down when He Xuan slowly approached.

Mu Lingyan immediately stood up and called out, “Master…”

He Xuan walked to the table and gave a slight nod.

“Let’s eat…”

No one dared to speak during the meal.

Mu Lingyan barely ate herself, instead focusing on serving dishes to He Xuan.

After all, as the male lead she had written, she knew his preferences perfectly well.

After breakfast, He Xuan set down his chopsticks.

His dark eyes turned to Mu Lingyan, his tone carrying a hint of praise.

“My disciple is always so considerate, putting my mind at ease.”

Mu Lingyan lowered her head slightly and replied softly, “It is my duty to share Master’s burdens.”

Ruan Jiujiu, sitting across from her, set down her chopsticks and huffed, “Master, you only ever praise Senior Sister! Third Senior Brother and I have done a lot too!”

Ye Wanxing chimed in beside her, “Exactly, Master always favors Senior Sister!”

A faint, almost imperceptible smile tugged at the corners of He Xuan’s usually indifferent face, his gaze toward Ruan Jiujiu filled with affection.

“You are all my good disciples, but your senior sister is simply more sensible.”

Mu Lingyan lowered her eyelids. Whether it was her own sensitivity or not, she always felt that when Master praised her, the smile never quite reached his eyes.

Yet, it wasn’t like that when he bantered with her junior sister and brother.

She shook her head slightly. It must just be a matter of personality.

After all, her junior sister and brother were lively and energetic by nature, inevitably bringing joy to those who saw them.

After breakfast, the group prepared to depart.

But Mu Lingyan noticed a black-clad figure wearing a silver mask standing outside the inn.

The figure looked directly toward her and performed a salute by placing his right hand against his forehead.

This was the greeting of the Demon Realm.

Mu Lingyan knew this was her subordinate. Taking advantage of He Xuan chatting with Ruan Jiujiu, she said:

“Master, this disciple will go out to buy something and return shortly.”

He Xuan responded indifferently without even turning to look at her.

Mu Lingyan swiftly exited the inn, her steps sharp and decisive.

She circled around to the back of the street behind the inn.

Glaring coldly at the subordinate before her, she narrowed her eyes and said impatiently, “Didn’t I instruct you not to appear before me unless summoned?”

The black-clad figure hurriedly replied, “This subordinate has urgent matters to report to the Demon Venerable. A few days ago, we captured a group of cultivators, and it seems the Cangwu Sect has discovered it. We await the Demon Venerable’s instructions on how to proceed.”

Mu Lingyan crossed her arms, her expression indifferent. “Release those cultivators.”

The subordinate’s eyes widened behind the mask. “Demon Venerable, but—”

“I said release them. Do you dare disobey my orders?”

The subordinate hastily knelt. “This subordinate wouldn’t dare! We will obey the Demon Venerable’s command!”

As Mu Lingyan was about to leave, she turned back and instructed, “From now on, order our subordinates to refrain from causing trouble. Instead, have them do more acts of chivalry and righteousness. Understood?”

The subordinate wanted to say he didn’t understand, but he didn’t dare.

He could only respectfully reply, “Understood.”

Watching his Demon Venerable’s retreating figure, he couldn’t help but mutter to himself.

But mutter as he might, he had no choice but to comply.

How could he dare defy the Demon Venerable?

As soon as Mu Lingyan returned to the inn, she ran into He Xuan.

He Xuan stood before her, his handsome brows slightly furrowed. “Disciple, why are your hands empty?”

Mu Lingyan was taken aback. “Hmm?”

He Xuan continued, “Didn’t you say you were going to buy something earlier?”

Without changing her expression, Mu Lingyan replied, “Oh, the shop was sold out, so… I couldn’t buy anything.”

He Xuan said nothing, his deep gaze fixed intently on her eyes.

Finally, he nodded and softly instructed, “Let us return to the sect.”
