Lu Yan immediately flashed back into the space once again. Taking out the key the system had just given her, she unlocked the wooden door that had previously refused to open.
The moment the wooden door opened, the scene before her left Lu Yan stunned.
At the center of the space farm was a clear stream that appeared to be about three meters wide. Its exact depth was unknown, but judging from its appearance, the water should at least reach knee level. The stream was connected to the well in the courtyard, which served as its water source.
Just now, after the space farm had been successfully activated, the dry well in the courtyard had suddenly begun producing a continuous supply of water.
To the left of the stream was a vast stretch of fertile black soil. Judging by what was currently unlocked, the area was roughly five mu in size, while everything beyond those five mu was covered in white mist.
To the right of the stream were a series of small grassy hills. Lu Yan raised a finger and counted them. There were ten small hills in total, and each one should be able to raise several hundred pigs, horses, cattle, sheep, and other livestock. Beyond the ten hills, the area was likewise shrouded in white mist.
However, there was an unlocking notice hanging above the white mist on this side.
It read:
【Kill zombies (mutated beasts) during the Apocalypse to level up.】
【1,000 first level zombies (mutated beasts) / 1 small hill】
【500 second level zombies (mutated beasts) / 1 small hill】
【100 third level zombies (mutated beasts) / 1 small hill】
【10 fourth level zombies (mutated beasts) / 1 small hill】
【5 fifth level zombies (mutated beasts) / 1 small hill】
【1 sixth level zombie (mutated beast) / 1 small hill】
Seeing this, Lu Yan had nothing to worry about. Killing zombies was something they would inevitably have to do during the Apocalypse anyway. Being able to upgrade the farm while doing something they had to do was actually quite useful, especially since there were so many of them.
Besides, first and second level zombies were relatively easy to kill, so upgrading their farm should not be difficult.
Most importantly, now that they had this farm, they would never have to worry about food and drink once the Apocalypse arrived.
However, as Lu Yan stared at the vast stretch of black soil and wondered how she was supposed to cultivate it, Lu Xi’s voice suddenly sounded behind her.
“So this is the legendary space farm. I’ve only ever seen farms like this in books and imagined what they would look like in my head. I never expected that I’d actually get to see a real space farm with my own eyes, and more importantly, this farm actually belongs to us.”
“This black soil covers such a huge area. Just how much grain could it produce?”
“This stream should be able to raise quite a lot of fish, right?”
“And how many pigs, horses, cattle, sheep, chickens, ducks, and geese could this grassland raise?”
Lu Xi’s expression was exaggerated to the extreme. His eyes were fixed motionlessly on the farm before him, and aside from his mouth moving when he spoke, he even had to support his chin with both hands, otherwise it looked as though his jaw might fall straight to the ground at any moment.
“Fifth Brother, why did you come in again?” Lu Yan asked sweetly as she looked at her fifth brother’s exaggerated expression.
Lu Xi replied, “I never went out. I was just wandering around the space warehouse. I was about to leave when I saw you here, so I got curious and came over to see what was going on. How come you can suddenly open this door?”
Lu Yan said, “After I left the space just now, the system gave me a notification saying that the Apocalypse would arrive one month earlier, and that the space farm could also be activated ahead of schedule. Once I got the key, I opened it.”
Hearing Lu Yan’s explanation, Lu Xi wore an expression that said he had expected as much.
“Looks like we really guessed correctly. The Apocalypse really has been brought forward.”
Lu Yan looked at Lu Xi and suddenly curled up the corners of her lips, revealing an innocent smile as she asked, “Fifth Brother, aren’t you in a hurry to leave?”
Seeing Yan Bao’s smile, Lu Xi suddenly had a bad feeling, but he still asked cautiously, “What is it?”
Lu Yan giggled. “Weren’t you just curious about how much grain this black soil could produce? Why don’t you plant some and find out?”
Lu Xi: ??
“Yan Bao, you’re joking, right?”
Lu Yan shook her head. “I’m being completely serious.”
Lu Xi said, “But your fifth brother doesn’t know how to farm. Besides, I don’t think we even stocked up on agricultural tools or anything like that. And what about seeds?”
Lu Yan replied, “I stocked them.”
Lu Xi stared at her. “When did you stock those? How come I didn’t know?”
Lu Yan said, “It’s not like I’ve spent all this time only stocking up on food, nor have I only been focused on eating. Whenever we saw useful supplies along the way, we stocked up on them too. Otherwise, how would I ever spend the several billion Grandpa gave me?”
“Besides, when I first saw this door, I guessed that there had to be a farm outside the courtyard, so I stocked up on all kinds of seeds, as well as agricultural equipment. Harvesters, seeders, and all sorts of other machines, I stocked up on plenty of them.”
Hearing this, Lu Xi forced a smile.
“Hehe~~~ You really did think of everything. None of us have ever farmed before, so we didn’t even think of this.”
Lu Yan pointed at the land before them. “Now you have the chance.”
Lu Xi looked awkward. “But, but I still don’t know how.”
Lu Yan asked, “Then what should we do?”
Lu Xi thought for a moment before saying, “How about we call Second Brother, Dad, Mom, and the others in and see if any of them know how?”
Lu Yan said, “Forget it. They definitely don’t know either.”
Lu Xi asked, “Then what do we do?”
Just as the siblings were both at a loss, a sweet, adorable voice suddenly sounded beside their ears.
As the voice rang out, a pure white flying Bichon appeared before them. There was even a tiny antenna on top of the Bichon’s head.
Beside the little Bichon, a dialogue box thoughtfully appeared, displaying the words it spoke.
【I am Farm Bichon Xiao Zhi. Bichon Xiao Zhi is at your service.】
【Master, are you looking for someone to help with farming?】
After saying that, the dialogue box disappeared, and Bichon Xiao Zhi flew around them in a little circle.
Judging from the voice, it seemed to be a girl.
Lu Xi reached out and poked Bichon Xiao Zhi’s round little ear. When the little ear felt someone touching it, it moved slightly.
Seeing this, Lu Xi laughed.
“Hahaha~~~ It moves!”
【Bichon Xiao Zhi is a living creature, so of course it moves.】
【Master, are you looking for someone to help with farming?】
Lu Yan nodded. “Yes. Can Bichon Xiao Zhi farm?”
【Bichon Xiao Zhi cannot farm, but Bichon Xiao Zhi is the little farm steward. The little steward’s mini shop has everything the master needs.】
【Master, would you like to take a look? Bichon Xiao Zhi can give the master a huge discount.】
Lu Xi laughed. “Then show us. Let’s see what treasures you have.”
【Of course, Master. Please wait a moment.】
After saying that, Bichon Xiao Zhi spun around in a little circle before them, and a farm shop appeared right in front of them.
Everything sold in the shop was related to farming, including seeds, animals, all kinds of agricultural tools, and even farming robots.
However, all of these things had to be purchased with points.
One farming robot required fifty thousand points.
Seeing the price, Lu Xi complained, “That’s way too expensive. We just activated the farm. Where are we supposed to get points from?”
【Master, you can exchange the money in your hands for points to make purchases. One yuan can be exchanged for one point.】
Lu Xi immediately said, “Then why didn’t you say so earlier? Can we pay by card or cash? WeChat Pay or Alipay?”
【Whichever is more convenient for the master is fine. All payment methods are accepted. How many points would the master like to exchange?】
Lu Xi looked at Lu Yan.
“Yan Bao, how many should we exchange?”
