“Fang Cheng, take her to the hospital,” Lu Nanzhan said coldly.
His calm gaze swept over Song Qingxian before settling on the front of her shirt, where a button had come undone.
Song Qingxian quickly lowered her head to look at herself. At some point, one of the buttons on her blouse had fallen off, revealing glimpses of skin beneath. She hurriedly covered her chest in panic, biting her lip helplessly as she lowered her head.
Every movement she made carried a delicate helplessness mixed with an alluring charm.
Yes, she had done it on purpose.
A complicated emotion flickered through Lu Nanzhan’s eyes before disappearing instantly. He took off his suit jacket and handed it to her. “Put this on.”
A sly smile flashed through Song Qingxian’s eyes as she accepted his jacket and slipped it on. His unique scent lingered on the fabric, cool and crisp with a faint woody fragrance mixed with traces of tobacco. It carried a mature, restrained masculinity that wrapped tightly around her.
“Thank you.”
Lu Nanzhan’s gaze landed on her knee, where blood was still seeping through the wound, and his brows furrowed almost imperceptibly.
“Wipe it off.” He handed her a handkerchief.
Song Qingxian accepted it and lowered her head to clean the blood from her knee. The scrape was fairly serious, and the pain made her brows knit tightly together as she bit down on her lip.
She was wearing office attire that day, a white blouse paired with a black skirt that made her long legs appear even more slender and straight. Against the large patches of crimson blood on her knee, the contrast was striking.
Lu Nanzhan’s gaze brushed over her legs, his eyes darkening slightly.
“How should I address you?” Song Qingxian asked with a smile.
Lu Nanzhan’s deep gaze rested on her face, carrying a trace of scrutiny, though his expression remained cold and unreadable. “No need.”
“…” Song Qingxian felt slightly disappointed. His attitude toward her was distant and indifferent. Could it be that he would never fall for someone like her at all?
“Lu Nanzhan.”
His low voice suddenly sounded again. Perhaps he had noticed her disappointment, or perhaps for some other reason, he told her his name after all.
Song Qingxian’s lips curved into a beautiful smile. “My name is Song Qingxian. You can call me Qingxian or Xianxian…”
“Miss Song.”
Before she could finish, Lu Nanzhan interrupted her coldly. His brows drew together slightly as he looked at her. Why was this woman trying to get close to him again?
His reaction made Song Qingxian pause. She began reflecting on herself. Had she been too enthusiastic and frightened him? After all, Lu Nanzhan had always been cold and withdrawn. He probably was not used to this kind of approach.
At this stage, Lu Nanzhan showed absolutely no gentlemanly behavior toward Song Qingxian.
When they arrived at the hospital entrance, it was obvious he had no intention of accompanying her inside. She had been the one who ignored traffic rules and ran into his car. He truly had no obligation to take care of her. Bringing her to the hospital was already more than generous enough.
“Miss Song, goodbye,” Lu Nanzhan said in a distant, indifferent voice.
Outside the window, the rain had grown even heavier.
Song Qingxian took a deep breath. “Could I borrow your umbrella?”
Lu Nanzhan picked up the black umbrella and handed it to her.
Song Qingxian stepped out of the car helplessly, only to pull at the wound on her knee, making her hiss in pain.
After limping forward a few steps, she suddenly thought of something and turned back to knock lightly on the car window.
The window slowly lowered. Song Qingxian stood there wrapped in his suit jacket. “Mr. Lu, your clothes… how should I return them to you?”
A cigarette rested between Lu Nanzhan’s fingers, though he had not yet lit it. His expression remained cold and arrogant. “Just throw them away.”
The window rolled back up, and his sharp profile gradually disappeared from Song Qingxian’s sight.
She stared silently in the direction his car had gone, feeling somewhat disappointed. He was like a leopard, dangerous, sharp, impossible to predict. At the same time, he resembled an impenetrable wall, silent and mysterious.
Getting into his world would not be easy.
But Song Qingxian was not someone who gave up easily.
The next day, she wore a simple white T-shirt paired with a gray pleated skirt, knee socks, and white sneakers. She looked youthful and full of life as she waited downstairs outside Lu Nanzhan’s company building.
She waited from five in the afternoon until seven in the evening before his black Rolls-Royce finally appeared.
Song Qingxian hurried over, but because she had been standing too long and her injury from yesterday had not healed, she stumbled directly against his car.
This time, she truly swore it had not been intentional.
Fang Cheng was startled as well. He had not even started driving yet, so why had someone suddenly thrown herself onto the car? Was this another scam attempt?
Then he looked closer.
Why was it her again?
Fang Cheng turned helplessly toward Lu Nanzhan in the back seat. “Mr. Lu, it’s the lady from yesterday. She ran into your car again.”
Lu Nanzhan’s expression became unreadable. After a long moment, he lowered the backseat window and looked toward Song Qingxian. His voice was cold and calm. “Miss Song, another coincidence?”
Song Qingxian smiled awkwardly and tugged at the corner of her lips. Walking over to him, she admitted honestly, “No, I’ve been waiting for you for over two hours.”
“Do you need something?” Lu Nanzhan glanced at his watch.
Song Qingxian handed him a bag. “Your clothes, and your umbrella.”
Lu Nanzhan glanced at it indifferently. “I told you to throw them away.”
“They were expensive… I even had them dry-cleaned.”
Lu Nanzhan accepted the bag and casually tossed it onto the seat beside him. “Anything else?”
“Yes!” Song Qingxian answered quickly.
“Speak.”
“Can I treat you to dinner?”
Lu Nanzhan’s brows sank slightly as his deep eyes fixed steadily on her.
Under his gaze, Song Qingxian suddenly became nervous. A thin layer of sweat formed in her palms.
“Get in.”
Only after a long silence did Lu Nanzhan finally speak in a low voice.
Song Qingxian secretly let out a sigh of relief and climbed into the back seat.
Lu Nanzhan’s gaze fell on her knee. Blood had already begun seeping through the bandages. He reached out and held her calf.
Song Qingxian jolted in surprise. “Mr. Lu…”
A faint smile with an unreadable meaning flashed across Lu Nanzhan’s lips as he gently straightened her leg. “Don’t bend your knee. Your wound is bleeding again.”
Song Qingxian obediently stretched her leg out straight. “I understand. Thank you.”
“You changed styles today.” Lu Nanzhan’s gaze swept over her outfit.
Song Qingxian paused. Why did it sound like there was another meaning hidden in his words, as though he thought she was deliberately changing styles to attract him?
Though, to be fair, she did have that intention.
Still, she could not make it too obvious, so she explained, “Yesterday was office wear. Today I came straight from school.”
Lu Nanzhan gave a slight nod and closed his eyes to rest, no longer paying attention to her.
His restrained and unreadable attitude was driving Song Qingxian crazy. She simply could not figure out what he was thinking.
“Then what kind of style does Mr. Lu think suits me better?” she asked with a smile.
Lu Nanzhan slowly opened his dark eyes and looked her over. His voice was low and cold. “Are you an adult yet?”
Unsure what he meant, Song Qingxian nodded blankly.
He suddenly leaned closer to her. Dark emotions stirred beneath his deep gaze as his warm breath brushed against her face. His low voice carried a faintly suggestive tone.
“How much?”
Lu Nanzhan’s familiar scent instantly made Song Qingxian nervous and restless. “Mr. Lu, what do you mean?”
His large hand rested against her slender waist as his thin lips moved close to her ear.
“I’m asking,” he said in a low voice, “how much for one night?”
