The next morning,

Bai Zixi walked out of her room looking refreshed and full of energy, with Lin Jiao following closely behind her.

Ten minutes later, a black seven-seater SUV was once again cruising down the main road.Full novel: Transmigrated Into a Novel’s Apocalypse: My White Lotus System — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

It wasn’t until 5 p.m. that Bai Zixi finally spotted the new base through the car window, just a few hundred meters away.

The vacation resort had been transformed into a base and expanded considerably. It now looked almost like a small town, and the surrounding walls appeared to still be under construction.

Lin Jiao also gazed curiously at their approaching destination. Surprisingly, there wasn’t a single zombie in sight around the area.

“Young Master Yan’s efficiency is incredible. It’s been less than a week since the apocalypse began, hasn’t it? This base is already quite impressive in size.”

Mo Yanfeng couldn’t help but express his admiration. Deep down, he had always felt both respect and fear toward Yan Shaochen.

His words immediately made everyone nervous. Even Yan Shaoyu felt a little uneasy. Although he was usually calm and composed when facing difficulties, he still didn’t dare say much whenever his eldest brother was involved.

Only Bai Zixi and Lin Jiao were genuinely happy.

Bai Zixi was thinking about all the points she could earn by taking advantage of the opportunities around the base, while Lin Jiao was simply relieved that she had finally reached a safe place.

As soon as their vehicle approached the base’s entrance, the two guards standing at the gate recognized it.

“It’s Third Young Master Yan’s car! They’re back!” one of the guards, dressed in a black combat uniform, exclaimed excitedly.

The military personnel all knew one another well. Seeing that their comrades had returned safely, their faces lit up with joy.

Before long, the news reached Yan Shaochen.

Yan Shaohua, who was discussing internal affairs with Yan Shaochen at the time, excitedly stood up when he heard the announcement. His expression looked as though he had just been rescued from a difficult situation.

Meanwhile, Yan Shaochen remained seated in his office chair, his handsome face showing no change in expression. His deep, dark eyes narrowed slightly, and his powerful presence made people feel inexplicably nervous even when he did something as simple as moving his eyes.

Yan Shaohua, who was waiting for him to say something, felt extremely anxious.

Why hadn’t their father accompanied him to the meeting today? That was completely unfair!

Fortunately, he would have his third younger brother keeping him company from now on.

“Nineteen, have Shaoyu bring his people to the main residence,” Yan Shaochen said in his deep, low voice, which carried through the doorway.

He then glanced at Yan Shaohua and casually remarked, “Let’s go see our good younger brother.”

Yan Shaohua: “…”

A short while later, the living room of the Yan family’s main residence became lively.

“Third Brother, you’re finally back!”

Yan’s father looked at Yan Shaoyu affectionately. The worry that had been weighing on his heart finally disappeared.

Yan Shaoyu greeted everyone in the room. “Father, Eldest Brother, Second Brother.”

Bai Zixi’s eyes briefly swept over the four members of the Yan family. When her gaze passed over Yan Shaochen, however, it lingered for a few seconds.

She hadn’t expected the most handsome man in the novel to be the male lead’s eldest brother rather than the male lead himself.

His facial features were sharply defined and strikingly deep-set. He had bold, slightly raised eyebrows, a straight nose, and a pair of dark, icy eyes that seemed to hold nothing but indifference.

Yan Shaoyu’s second eldest brother, on the other hand, had a more refined and approachable appearance. He looked rather easygoing and resembled Yan’s father more closely.

Lin Jiao was also feeling nervous by now. She had heard quite a few rumors about the Yan family even before the apocalypse. And now, she was actually standing inside their home!

This was simply too exciting!

After exchanging a few concerned words with Yan Shaoyu, Yan’s father turned his attention to the familiar young men standing behind him and nodded approvingly.

Finally, his gaze settled on Bai Zixi. His eyes immediately brightened, and he walked over to her.

“Are you Zixi? My goodness, you’ve grown up so much!”

Although Bai Zixi had lost her previous memories, she knew she must have been acquainted with the Yan family when she was young. Otherwise, how could she have gone to the Yan family’s training island?

She curved her lips into a smile, nodded, and replied politely in a gentle voice, “Uncle Yan, yes, it’s me.”

Hearing her answer, Yan’s father looked relieved and pleased.

Thankfully, the child his close friend had entrusted to him before his death was safe and sound. Otherwise, he would have felt guilty for the rest of his life.

He had originally planned to raise her in the imperial capital like his own daughter. However, when she was seven years old, she insisted on going to the training island. In the end, he had no choice but to let her have her way.

Who would have thought that she would stay there for fifteen whole years?

Yan’s father looked at her helplessly.

“You little girl! Why didn’t you come back to visit Uncle after leaving the island? What could possibly be so fun about spending time with those troublesome boys?”

From the moment Bai Zixi entered the room, Yan Shaochen had already recognized her as the timid little girl from years ago, the one who would always hide whenever she saw him.

But she seemed somewhat different now.

Bai Zixi could only brace herself and humor Yan’s father for a few moments, nodding along as he continued to chatter.
