Bai Zixi was secretly pleased. She loved seeing the amazed expressions on their faces.

“Brother Rui, how was that?” She turned to look at him, wondering if he had learned it already.

Zhu Rui’s heart skipped a beat. Zixi was still as gentle as ever. Even though her strength had increased, her personality remained easygoing and approachable.Full novel: Transmigrated Into a Novel’s Apocalypse: My White Lotus System — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Just then, everyone suddenly fell silent. Lin Jiao leaned closer to her and whispered, “The big shots are here.”

Yan Shaochen and Yan Shaoyu had already walked over.

“All ability users, step forward!” Yan Shaoyu called out in a deep voice.

As soon as he spoke, eleven people stepped out of the group of twenty. Each stood tall and straight, their expressions serious.

Bai Zixi and Lin Jiao stood off to the side, unsure whether they should step forward or move back. In the end, they simply remained where they were.

Including the two of them, as well as Yan Shaochen and Yan Shaoyu, there were now fifteen ability users in the area. Most of them belonged to the special forces unit. Not a single ordinary soldier had awakened an ability.

In the future, there would be two possible ways to obtain an ability: getting scratched by a zombie, which carried a certain chance of awakening one, or absorbing a crystal core, which also offered a chance. However, both methods had relatively high failure rates.

Bai Zixi wondered whether people with stronger physical constitutions had a higher chance of awakening abilities. Otherwise, why were only those who had undergone special training awakening them?

“We’ll depart for Training Island tomorrow morning to rescue our comrades. Only five of you will be selected for this mission.”

Yan Shaoyu spoke again, his gaze sweeping across the eleven ability users.

Soldiers were naturally full of passion and loyalty. The moment they heard that they would be rescuing their former comrades, they eagerly volunteered.

Aside from the fact that they had all come from Training Island, every completed mission also earned them contribution points. These points could be used as currency within the base.

Bai Zixi and Lin Jiao had no idea about this. Even if they had known, they probably wouldn’t have wanted to go. Fighting and killing weren’t really their thing.

In the end, the selected team consisted of Han Shuo, Mo Yanfeng, Zhu Rui, Eighteen, and Nineteen, along with the two women.

The military helicopters could accommodate around ten people each. They would be using two helicopters for this operation. If they found a large number of survivors, they would probably need to make several trips back and forth.

“You five, spend today practicing your abilities. Everyone else, step up your training.”

After giving a few instructions, Yan Shaoyu left the training ground with Yan Shaochen.

As soon as they were gone, a group of people gathered around Bai Zixi again, looking at her with humble expressions as they sought her advice.

“Zixi, can my earth ability attack people the same way yours does?” Han Shuo had actually understood the technique, but he still wanted to make sure.

Apart from Lin Jiao and Bai Zixi, there was also a short-haired female soldier present. She stepped forward and asked, “Zixi, can my water ability be condensed into water arrows?”

Bai Zixi smiled and patiently explained the basic ways to control and use their abilities, leaving them to experiment and figure out the rest on their own.

Current Points: 64

After spending the entire day together, she had grown much closer to everyone. Those who had previously addressed her formally were now calling her by name without hesitation.

She was cheerful and approachable, always willing to answer questions. She wasn’t arrogant or impatient, and her presence had completely livened up the atmosphere.

Previously, these people had done nothing but train in silence, following their routines like machines.

“Zixi, be careful during this mission, okay?” The short-haired female soldier had practically turned Bai Zixi into her idol. She simply loved looking at beautiful women.

“What’s your name?” Bai Zixi asked, wanting to get to know her better. The girl kept looking at her with sparkling, starry eyes. She seemed like someone she could get along with.

“My name is Seventeen.”

The girl answered somewhat sheepishly, scratching her head with an honest, slightly awkward expression. She looked like a tough, tomboyish woman on the outside, but she was actually quite soft-hearted.

Hearing her name, Bai Zixi found it rather strange.

Seventeen, Eighteen, and Nineteen? What kind of casual naming system was that?

She casually asked, “Does that mean there are also Fifteen and Sixteen?”

Seventeen nodded. “That’s right! There are also Eleven, Twelve, Thirteen, and Fourteen. We’re all part of the first batch of people who came out of the island. Ever since then, we’ve been following Young Master Yan.”

“Seventeen, just call me Zixi. I’m younger than you, so you don’t have to call me older sister.”

She was only twenty-two. Being called someone’s older sister didn’t feel quite right.

Seventeen nodded straightforwardly. After all, Bai Zixi was beautiful, so whatever she said went!
