“Let me take a look at your wound,” Bai Zixi said, turning to Mu Ya with concern. She wanted to test how her light ability worked as a healing power.

“Huh? Zixi, you know how to heal?” Mu Ya asked in surprise, but she still held out her wounded arm for Bai Zixi to examine.

Bai Zixi smiled. “Don’t be nervous. Your infected wound isn’t that serious. You won’t turn into a zombie that easily.”Full novel: Transmigrated Into a Novel’s Apocalypse: My White Lotus System — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“R-Really?” Mu Ya’s face lit up with joy. Did that mean she wouldn’t die?

Strangely enough, everyone else who got bitten would start convulsing and turn into zombies within seconds, yet several hours had passed since she was bitten, and she still hadn’t shown any symptoms.

Besides, after that rainstorm, everyone’s physical strength had suddenly increased significantly. Everything seemed to have become something straight out of a fantasy.

Not far away, Yan Shaoyu turned to Yan Shaochen and suggested, “Why don’t we take a few people and collect the supplies first?”

“Alright,” Yan Shaochen agreed.

They then took Lin Jiao, Zhu Rui, and Han Shuo with them toward the stairwell.

That left only Bai Zixi, Mo Yanfeng, Mu Ya, and Zhou Tingfeng on the rooftop. There shouldn’t be many zombies left in the dormitory building anyway.

A ball of light condensed in Bai Zixi’s palm. She carefully controlled the temperature of the energy until it turned into a warm glow suitable for healing. Only then did she transfer the light energy into Mu Ya’s wound.

As soon as the energy touched the blackish-purple wound, it began to visibly scab over. Gradually, the healing effect spread deeper, reaching the cells inside her body.

Only when Mu Ya’s complexion returned to a healthy, rosy color did Bai Zixi withdraw her light energy.

That had consumed half of her mana bar!

“That’s done.”

Although she looked relaxed, she was actually exhausted. She even felt like going straight to sleep. Why was that?

“008, does this ability have any side effects? Why am I feeling sleepy?” Bai Zixi asked in confusion. She hadn’t even used that much energy.

008’s mechanical voice sounded beside her ear.

“At a low level, healing does have some side effects. Just try not to use it too often.”

Alright. Fortunately, the only side effect was drowsiness. There weren’t any other unpleasant consequences. Otherwise, she would have been at a huge loss.

Hearing the notification gave her a little boost of energy. At least her efforts hadn’t been wasted.

“Thank you, Zixi!” Mu Ya looked at her with gratitude.

Zhou Tingfeng also thanked her.

Bai Zixi picked up a military knife and walked over to the corpse of a Level 2 zombie. Crouching beside it, she pinched her nose and used the knife to cut open its skull.

Before long, a white crystal core fell out.

“Zixi, what’s that?” Mo Yanfeng approached her and asked curiously.

“I don’t know either. Let’s take it back and study it first,” Bai Zixi replied casually, making up an excuse.

She continued to another Level 2 zombie corpse and started digging through its head.

After extracting the cores from eight Level 2 zombies, she couldn’t take it anymore and began gagging. She quickly stood up and walked over to the railing to get some fresh air.

Seeing this, Mu Ya approached her with concern.

“Zixi, are you alright? You seem to like these shiny little things. Why don’t I dig some out for you?”

“No need, Mu Ya,” Bai Zixi stopped her.

She had already collected all the crystal cores from the Level 2 zombies. Not every Level 1 zombie had a crystal core, so who knew how long it would take to search through that mountain of corpses?

After speaking, she took a bottle of water out of her backpack and used it to wash her hands and knife. Then she drank all the remaining water in one go and placed the pinky-finger-sized crystal cores inside the bottle before casually tossing it back into her backpack.

Suddenly remembering something, she opened her backpack again and took out some water and snacks.

“You must be hungry. Have something to eat.”

Mu Ya and Zhou Tingfeng swallowed nervously, their eyes fixed on the pile of snacks. However, they were too embarrassed to reach for anything.

Bai Zixi curled her lips into a smile and said gently, “Go ahead and eat. You can pay me back later.”

The two nodded together, quickly grabbed some food, tore open the packaging, and stuffed their mouths full.

They must have been starving!

Bai Zixi wondered how things were progressing with the others. She turned around and looked toward the distant stretch of lush green mountains.

Her expression suddenly changed.

Could there already be mutated plants at this stage of the apocalypse?
