After waking up the next morning, Qin Jizhi realized that what happened the night before wasn’t even that embarrassing.

Because something even more embarrassing was waiting for him in the morning.

When Yu Qiaoqiao woke up, she noticed an unusual smell. She lifted the quilt to check and found that it was coming from Qin Jizhi—specifically from between his legs. It was clearly the scent of a man’s… bodily fluid.Full novel: Transmigrated into the 1970s and Became the Disabled Retired Bigshot’s Beloved — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

That’s right—Comrade Qin Jizhi had ejaculated in his sleep.

When he woke up, he felt like a complete scumbag. How could he dream of Yu Qiaoqiao’s innocent face and still do something so indecent? Worse yet, she had discovered it firsthand.

The moment Yu Qiaoqiao lifted the quilt, Qin Jizhi felt like he wanted to die.

The worst part was—he couldn’t even move.

In the end, it was Yu Qiaoqiao who helped him take off his pants and clean him up.

Damn it.

Qin Jizhi clenched his fists tightly.

What would Yu Qiaoqiao think of him now?

Just the night before, she had talked about whether he needed help relieving himself, and now he had done something so uncontrollable and humiliating. And the worst part—he had no control over it.

He didn’t even dare look at her.

Yu Qiaoqiao, on the other hand, wasn’t nearly as awkward. Having worked as a doctor for so long, she had seen all kinds of patients. Qin Jizhi’s situation was completely normal—in fact, it proved he was a healthy man with proper kidney function.

That was a good thing.

After breakfast, both lost in their own thoughts, Yu Qiaoqiao took the money and ration coupons and headed toward the county town.

During the day, almost no one from the Qin family stayed home. Qin’s mother assumed Yu Qiaoqiao spent her days attentively caring for Qin Jizhi indoors, unaware that she had already been climbing mountains and traveling back and forth to town.

Qingshi Village wasn’t far from the county, so Yu Qiaoqiao could walk there.

Of course, she didn’t own any “luxurious” means of transport like a cart or a bicycle anyway.

Upon arriving in the county, she saw all kinds of buildings and scenes characteristic of the era.

Large slogans painted across walls, the state-run supply and marketing cooperative, and banners hanging above it.

One banner boldly read: “Develop the economy, ensure supply.”

Only after entering the town did Yu Qiaoqiao fully confirm that she hadn’t been dreaming these past few days—she had truly transmigrated.

Into this poor, underdeveloped era.

Her purpose in coming to town was to buy some traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture needles, make a phone call as Qin Jizhi had asked, and pick up some miscellaneous items she needed.

Pressed for time, she didn’t dare waste a moment. After buying everything, she still had to walk back.

Finding a Chinese medicine shop wasn’t hard—after asking two people for directions, she was almost there when a crowd gathered in the middle of the road blocked her path.

People were chattering noisily. Acting on instinct, Yu Qiaoqiao squeezed her way in. Sure enough, in the center was an elderly man struggling to breathe. Beside him, a middle-aged woman stood helpless, too afraid to touch him but unwilling to leave, repeatedly calling, “Sir! Sir!”

The old man seemed unable to hear her. Clutching his chest, he gasped for air.

Yu Qiaoqiao frowned and pushed through the crowd. She quickly untied her braids and pinned her hair up, then rushed to the man’s side. Looking up at the trembling woman, she asked, “Does he have heart disease?”

The woman stammered, wringing her hands. “Mr. Ye does have a heart condition. I just brought him out for a walk and didn’t expect this to happen, so I didn’t bring his medicine…”

She was the old man’s caretaker. Thinking the weather was nice, she had taken him out for some sun, only for this to happen. She was panicking—going to get medicine wasn’t an option, and staying felt useless.

Yu Qiaoqiao glanced at her, then called out to the surrounding crowd, “Please step back and keep the air flowing.”

She laid the old man flat on the ground and knelt beside him.

By now, the old man was completely still—his mouth unmoving, his eyes closed.

The caretaker burst into tears. “What do we do? What do we do? Mr. Ye, he won’t… he won’t…”

Yu Qiaoqiao had no time to comfort her. She tapped the man’s face and shoulders, called out near his ear, but got no response.

She quickly checked his breathing and pulse—there was none.

He had lost consciousness. No breathing. No pulse.

Without hesitation, she rolled up her sleeves, knelt beside him, loosened his collar, placed the base of one hand on his sternum, the other hand over it, and began CPR.

“Will that even work? He’s not breathing—he’s already gone.”

“Young people these days just want to show off. They’ll do anything to get attention.”

“Exactly. I’ll just stand here and see how she gets out of this later.”

Yu Qiaoqiao acted as if she couldn’t hear them, focusing entirely on compressing his chest.

Then—with a faint cough—the old man reacted.

The caretaker dropped to her knees beside him. “Mr. Ye! Are you okay?!”

The people who had been mocking her were stunned.

“How is this possible? She’s like a miracle worker—bringing the dead back to life!”

“Is she even human? She’s so beautiful… could she be some kind of fox spirit?”

“This is too strange.”

Several people stared at Yu Qiaoqiao as if expecting her to transform into some creature and fly away.

The old man slowly opened his eyes. The first thing he saw was Yu Qiaoqiao, drenched in sweat.

She smiled brightly. “Grandpa, are you feeling better?”

“Young lady, was it you who saved me?” Old Master Ye was helped to sit up.

When he had his eyes closed, he hadn’t felt it, but now, sitting up and looking at her, his natural authority and commanding presence were unmistakable. Though he tried to sound gentle, it was clear he was someone used to power.

Yu Qiaoqiao smiled sweetly. “It was just a small effort. You should really take care of your health.”

“I’m old—these are just chronic problems,” he said as the caretaker helped him stand.

“Grandpa, I checked your pulse earlier. Your condition isn’t serious—you can actually be cured completely,” Yu Qiaoqiao said earnestly.

But the old man didn’t take it seriously.

He had suffered from this illness for years. He had seen traditional doctors, Western doctors, even military physicians—none could cure it completely. How could he believe a young girl?

Just as he was thinking about how to respond more tactfully, Yu Qiaoqiao’s next sentence made his back stiffen…
