“Qianyi, you’re here to watch a movie too.”

Lin Qianyi heard a somewhat familiar voice.

“Big sister” A little boy ran over and grabbed her hand.Full novel: Transmigrated into the 1970s and Spoiled by a Cool, Handsome Officer — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Lin Qianyi recognized him immediately—it was the child who had been stuck that day.

Sure enough, she then saw Lin Liping walking over with a smile.

“Qianyi, what a coincidence. You’re here to watch a movie too? I brought my younger brother out to watch a movie as well,” Lin Liping said brightly.

“Sister, do you still remember me?” the little boy asked, holding onto Lin Qianyi’s hand.

“I remember you. You must be careful when eating in the future, okay?” Lin Qianyi smiled and patted his head.

“Mm, thank you, sister,” the boy nodded.

After the old doctor checked him that day, he had already regained full consciousness.

He had seen Lin Qianyi there and heard everyone say she was the one who saved him, so he remembered her.

At this moment, Meng Junchuan returned after buying movie tickets.

Lin Liping greeted him, her face slightly flushed.

Meng Junchuan nodded after recognizing the boy.

“Let’s go. The movie is about to start,” he said, holding two tickets.

“Then we’ll head in first,” Lin Qianyi said, saying goodbye to Lin Liping and the boy.

“We’re also watching this movie. Why don’t we go in together?” Lin Liping suggested with a smile.

“It’s not convenient,” Meng Junchuan said flatly.

And with those three words, he led Lin Qianyi away.

Joke aside—he had finally managed a rare date with his little girlfriend. Adding two extra people? Not happening.

Lin Qianyi secretly laughed.

“How coincidental is that? She’s actually the new coworker in our office,” she told him after they walked away.

“And she still doesn’t know how to read the situation,” Meng Junchuan frowned. “Forget about her. Let’s go buy some snacks and soda.”

He bought peanuts, sunflower seeds, and two bottles of soda.

“You’re pretty skilled at this,” Lin Qianyi teased.

“It’s what everyone does. This is my first time,” he said innocently. He definitely didn’t want her thinking he was experienced.

Lin Qianyi couldn’t help laughing.

“There are less than ten minutes left. Let’s go to the ticket gate.”

They walked toward the entrance. Lin Liping and the boy also came over.

Inside the crowd, Meng Junchuan kept leaning close to Lin Qianyi and talking to her softly. Lin Liping couldn’t find a chance to join in at all.

When it was time to enter, Meng Junchuan reached out to block the crowd, protecting Lin Qianyi so she wouldn’t get pushed.

Inside, there were two small inner doors with black curtains. A staff member stood there holding a flashlight, guiding people to their seats.

They found their seats and soon the movie began.

It was a war film that Meng Junchuan had already seen in the military.

Lin Qianyi, however, found it novel and watched it with great interest.

Meng Junchuan wasn’t idle either—his eyes weren’t on the screen at all. He was busy peeling peanuts and sunflower seeds for her.

In the dark theater, the light from the screen fell on Lin Qianyi’s face, making her even more breathtakingly beautiful.

His heart began to pound.

Lin Qianyi’s fair little hand rested on her lap.

Slowly, cautiously, Meng Junchuan reached his hand over.

Just as he was about to touch it, he hesitated again.

He wanted to—but was a little afraid. Last time they only hugged; if he went straight to holding her hand now, would she think he was being too forward?

But that wasn’t really like his usual bold personality either.

Forget it. If she got angry, he’d just let her hit him when they got back.

If he didn’t hold her hand in a dark movie theater like this, he’d probably regret it later.

His hand moved forward again—carefully, inch by inch.

Finally, he lightly touched her hand.

No reaction.

He moved a little further.

Still no reaction.

Alright then—no more testing.

He suddenly grasped her soft hand.

The silky smooth feeling almost made his head spin.

Still no reaction. She wasn’t angry.

His heart beat even faster. He secretly glanced at her—and saw her face slightly flushed in the dim light.

A smile crept uncontrollably onto his lips as he held her hand and refused to let go.

Lin Qianyi’s face was burning hot too. She had long noticed his little movements.

Honestly, this era’s handsome guys were so innocent she almost felt anxious for his hand—he was taking forever to reach over.

But the moment he actually held her hand, her heart started pounding wildly too, and her face turned hot.

How did she end up just as innocent as people in this era?

Two equally innocent “rookies” held hands through the entire movie—well, Lin Qianyi watched the movie, while Meng Junchuan watched Lin Qianyi.

After the screening ended, he shielded her through the crowd and left the theater.

“Qianyi,” Lin Liping’s voice sounded again.

She came over holding the boy’s hand.

“Qianyi, come to our house for a meal. My parents want to thank you,” she said, nudging the boy. “Right, Mingming?”

“Big sister, come to my house,” the boy said eagerly.

“Thank you for the invitation, but I really won’t be going,” Lin Qianyi said with a smile. Then she looked at Lin Liping and added, “You don’t need to keep inviting us. We won’t go.”

“Then where are you going? Can you take us with you? We’re still new here and don’t know the area,” Lin Liping said, looking at Meng Junchuan again.

At this point, even Lin Qianyi wasn’t naive anymore—she could clearly see what was going on.

She said nothing and just looked at Meng Junchuan.

Sigh. The young master was already impatient. Why was this person always interrupting their date?

“It’s not convenient,” Meng Junchuan said again—three words, nothing more.

“Sorry,” Lin Qianyi laughed lightly, waving at Lin Liping’s stiff expression.

They got into the car and headed home.

“Are we buying groceries?” he asked as he started the engine.

“No, I already bought them earlier. Let’s go home.”

So they drove back to the machinery factory.

Once home, they began preparing lunch.

Same routine as always: Lin Qianyi guided, Meng Junchuan cooked.

Today they made braised pork with potatoes, pan-fried ribbonfish, stir-fried vegetables, and egg soup.

His cooking skills were clearly improving more and more. He was quick to learn and excellent at everything he did.

“You’re getting really good at cooking,” she praised generously.

“Of course. Look who taught me,” he said proudly.

She laughed.

“Drink some soup, don’t burn yourself,” he said, handing her a bowl of slightly cooled soup.

After she finished her rice, she slowly drank it.

When she was done eating, he cleaned up the rest.
