As the May Day holiday arrived as scheduled, those wanting to return home began making their journeys, while those planning to travel had already mapped out their itineraries.

Famous tourist attractions across the country were packed with crowds. Some places were so crowded that people could barely move. The two of them decided not to join the rush.

Instead, Mo Junlin was accompanying Qin Ruoyao back to her parents’ home.Full novel: Transmigrated into the CEO’s Cannon-Fodder Ex-Wife, I Chose to Take It Easy — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Ever since their wedding, she had not returned once.

Traditionally, a newlywed bride would visit her parents three days after the wedding, but because her parents had been away on a business trip, they had skipped the custom. After all, it was only a formality, and doing it later was perfectly fine.

Taking advantage of Mo Junlin’s holiday, the couple set off for her hometown.

Qin Ruoyao felt both excited and eager. For married women—especially those who had married far from home—the thought of reuniting with loved ones they missed dearly filled their hearts with uncontrollable joy.

After three hours on the road, including a brief traffic jam, they finally arrived at the front gate.

“They’re here! Grandma, Auntie’s here!”

Her nephew, Qin Chuhang, spotted Qin Ruoyao from afar and immediately ran inside to tell his grandmother.

Qin Ruoyao’s mother, Qian Yun, who had been waiting in the living room, asked excitedly, “Really? Did you get a good look?”

After sending him to inform the others, she hurried outside to greet them. She had missed her precious daughter terribly.

The moment Qin Ruoyao stepped out of the car in front of the Qin family villa, her mother wrapped her in a tight embrace.

“My dear daughter, I’ve missed you so much.”

Seeing her mother, Qin Ruoyao’s eyes reddened.

“I’ve missed you too, Mom.”

At that moment, Mo Junlin stepped forward.

“Mom, we’re back.”

After looking her daughter over and seeing her rosy complexion and radiant appearance, Qian Yun knew she had not been mistreated.

Looking at her tall and handsome son-in-law, she couldn’t help but think that the old saying was true: a mother-in-law always finds her son-in-law more pleasing the more she sees him. The two of them looked perfect together.

The rest of the family soon came outside.

The first to appear was an elderly man with snow-white hair. Though advanced in age, he stood straight and looked full of energy. This was Qin Ruoyao’s grandfather, Qin Zhenguo, a veteran of the Red Army.

Behind him came a middle-aged man wearing glasses, still strikingly handsome despite his age. He was Qin Ruoyao’s father, Qin Xianglin.

Last came a young couple. The man was tall and bore a slight resemblance to Qin Ruoyao—her older brother, Qin Yuxuan.

Beside him stood an elegant and graceful young woman with delicate features—her sister-in-law, Wu Yue.

Holding Wu Yue’s hand was a little girl dressed in a beautiful princess dress. With her fair, chubby cheeks and adorable appearance, she looked like a doll. She was Qin Ruoyao’s two-year-old niece, Qin Ran.

Meanwhile, her young nephew squeezed his way over and hugged her leg.

“Auntie, where did you go? Why don’t you live at home anymore?”

The child didn’t yet understand what marriage meant and thought she should still come home every night.

Everyone burst into laughter.

Smiling, Qin Ruoyao gently ruffled his hair.

“Auntie’s back now.”

She then walked over and hugged her grandfather and father.

“Grandpa, I’m home. Dad, I’m home.”

“Hello, Brother. Hello, Sister-in-law.”

Mo Junlin followed behind her, greeting everyone one by one.

Seeing Qin Ruoyao’s healthy glow and cheerful appearance, everyone could tell she was doing well.

Grandfather Qin, in particular, was genuinely pleased with his grandson-in-law. Smiling warmly, he nodded at Mo Junlin. Although the wedding had been somewhat rushed, he believed a good son-in-law should be secured early. Having personally chosen him for his beloved granddaughter, he was more than satisfied.

Qin Ruoyao’s father, however, still wasn’t particularly fond of the man who had “stolen his precious cabbage,” but he didn’t make things difficult for him and merely gave a perfunctory nod.

Her older brother thought highly of his brother-in-law as well. Since their companies had some business dealings, they were already familiar with each other.

“The roads are jammed everywhere today. We thought you’d arrive much later, but you made it here before noon.”

“We left early and got lucky. We only spent about half an hour stuck in traffic,” Mo Junlin explained with a smile.

After exchanging pleasantries, everyone headed inside together.

Qin Ruoyao and Mo Junlin had brought an entire carload of gifts. Qin Yuxuan and Mo Junlin had to make five trips to carry everything in.

All of the gifts had been prepared by Mo Junlin’s mother. She thought that since the Qin family’s beautiful daughter had married far away and hadn’t even had the chance to make her post-wedding visit, they should make up for it with extra sincerity.

The living room floor and tables were piled high with presents, leaving the family astonished.

“The Mo family is far too generous,” Qian Yun said politely.

The children, of course, cared only about their own gifts. After receiving them, they happily ran off to the playroom, with Wu Yue following to keep an eye on them.

The adults stayed behind to chat.

Knowing that his grandson-in-law was skilled at chess, Grandfather Qin’s fingers began to itch. He insisted on playing a game with him, and Qin Yuxuan eagerly joined in the fun.

Qin Ruoyao shot Mo Junlin a sympathetic look.

Her grandfather was a terrible chess player.

Qian Yun pulled Qin Ruoyao back to her room, wanting to ask her some private questions. Qin Xianglin tried to follow, but one glare from his wife stopped him in his tracks.

After entering the room and closing the door, Qian Yun sat down with her daughter on the bed.

“How does he treat you? Has anyone in his family given you a hard time?”

“He’s” naturally referred to Mo Junlin.

Knowing her mother was concerned, Qin Ruoyao affectionately wrapped an arm around her shoulders.

“Oh, Mom, with a daughter as lovely as me, how could he possibly treat me badly? Don’t worry. Everyone in the Mo family is wonderful, and we don’t even live together. My mother-in-law treats me like her own daughter. No one bullies me.”

Qian Yun thought to herself that her daughter was beautiful, sensible, and attractive in every way. What man could resist her? She had worried that her daughter was still young and might not get along well with her husband, but from what she could see, her son-in-law treated her very well.

“Even so, you need to know your limits. Don’t become spoiled just because you’re loved, understand?”

Qin Ruoyao nodded.

Qian Yun continued, “So when are you planning to have children? He’s an only child, so it’d be good to have a baby sooner rather than later.”

“Mom, we just got married! How can you already be pressuring me about having kids? Even my mother-in-law hasn’t said anything about it.”

“It’s not too early. You’re young now—the sooner you have children, the easier it is to recover your figure afterward.”

Then she asked suspiciously, “Don’t tell me you two still haven’t… you know? Is there something wrong with him?”

Qin Ruoyao was practically speechless.

“No, Mom! We’re doing just fine. Stop overthinking things. As for children, we’ll let nature take its course. Come on, it’s almost time to eat. Let’s head out.”

Afraid her mother might say something even more outrageous, she quickly pulled her out of the room.

This time, they would be staying for three days.

After lunch, Qian Yun figured they must be exhausted after driving over so early in the morning, so she sent them back to their room to rest.

Mo Junlin followed Qin Ruoyao into her bedroom. She noticed that nothing had changed; it looked exactly the same as it had before she got married.

Mo Junlin closed the door behind them and walked over to embrace her.

Knowing he had spent hours driving and then socializing with her family, Qin Ruoyao urged him to get some rest.

“Then stay with me,” Mo Junlin requested.

The two of them settled down for a peaceful afternoon nap together.
