“Mmm…”

Something seemed to be disturbing her sleep. Irritated, Qin Ruoyao mumbled, “Go away, you annoying mosquito.”

After feeling a bite on her neck, she instinctively tried to swat at it, only to discover that her arms felt impossibly heavy. She could barely lift them. Her entire body ached as though it had been run over by a truck, leaving her exhausted and unwilling to move.Full novel: Transmigrated into the CEO’s Cannon-Fodder Ex-Wife, I Chose to Take It Easy — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

When she opened her eyes, all she could see was a head of dark hair in front of her.

Instantly, she understood her situation.

“N-No more…” Qin Ruoyao tried to push the man on top of her away, but she was too weak to resist.

“Since you’re awake, let’s get some morning exercise in,” Mo Junlin said, refusing to accept her protest.

For Qin Ruoyao, it felt as though she were adrift at sea, rising and falling with the waves.

Two hours later, it was nearly noon.

Qin Ruoyao didn’t want to move at all. After Mo Junlin carried her to wash up and brought her back, she collapsed onto the bed, unwilling to lift even a finger.

In contrast, the man looked completely refreshed, as though he had been fully recharged. After showering, he emerged looking energetic and thoroughly satisfied.

Sitting down beside the bed, he gently stroked her cheek.

“I ordered some food. Get up and eat a little before you go back to sleep.”

Their newlywed home was a luxuriously furnished two-hundred-square-meter apartment in Huating Pavilion, a prime residential development in the city center owned by the Mo Group.

They had chosen it because it was close to the Mo Group headquarters—less than a twenty-minute drive—making it convenient for Mo Junlin to commute to work.

The Mo family’s ancestral home, meanwhile, was located in an estate on the outskirts of the city, where many wealthy families lived. It was peaceful and well suited for the older generation.

The family elders were open-minded and had never insisted that their children live with them. They only hoped the younger generation would visit when they had time.

After the exhausting wedding the day before, no one had asked the newlyweds to return to the family estate immediately. Instead, they were told to rest and come back the following afternoon.

That meant they still had some time to themselves.

“No, no. I’m so tired and sleepy. It’s all your fault. I told you to stop, but you wouldn’t listen. Just look at me—how am I supposed to face anyone like this?”

The more she spoke, the angrier she became, and she raised her hand as if to hit him.

Mo Junlin caught her hand effortlessly.

Wearing only a slip dress, Qin Ruoyao had red marks scattered across her neck and collarbone. The most noticeable ones were hidden beneath the neckline.

She looked exactly like a woman who had been thoroughly cherished by her husband.

Mo Junlin touched his nose guiltily.

Considering it was her first time, he had already tried to hold back. But she was simply too irresistible. Whenever she was near him, his blood seemed to boil. Although he had restrained himself, he had still exhausted her.

And then there had been this morning…

“All right, all right. It’s my fault,” he said with a smile. “How about I make it up to Her Majesty by taking good care of her?”

Just then, the doorbell rang.

The food delivery from the Mo Group’s hotel catering service had arrived.

Mo Junlin went to answer the door.

Outside stood Manager Wang from the catering department.

“President Mo, here’s the meal you ordered.”

Manager Wang wasn’t surprised to see Mo Junlin answering the door himself. He had attended the wedding the day before and knew his boss had taken five days off for his honeymoon.

With the May Day holiday approaching, the entire group was extremely busy, leaving President Mo with no time for an actual honeymoon.

After thanking him, Mo Junlin took the food inside and closed the door.

Since he normally lived alone, he had never hired a live-in housekeeper. The only domestic staff were those from the family estate who came by periodically to clean.

He arranged the dishes on the dining table before returning to the bedroom and carrying Qin Ruoyao out.

After settling her comfortably into a chair, he sat down across from her.

“Here, try this and see if it suits your taste. Then have some porridge.”

He placed a bowl of chicken soup in front of her.

Qin Ruoyao looked at the spread on the table: chicken soup, red date and millet porridge, stir-fried pork, shrimp with corn, and seafood fried rice.

Wasn’t this too much food for two people?

She voiced her concern aloud.

Mo Junlin scooped up a spoonful of chicken soup and held it to her lips.

After she took a sip, he replied, “It’s fine. Eat as much as you want. I’ll finish whatever’s left.”

Seeing him prepare another spoonful, she quickly stopped him.

“I can do it myself. You should eat too, or the food will get cold.”

“What’s this? You don’t need me to serve you anymore?” he asked teasingly.

Blushing, Qin Ruoyao shook her head.

“No, no. I’m fine.”

Smiling, Mo Junlin finally picked up his own bowl of soup.

Aside from occasionally serving each other food, they ate in comfortable silence.

After the meal, Mo Junlin volunteered to clean up, and Qin Ruoyao happily let him handle it.

Oddly enough, after eating, she no longer felt sleepy.

Since she had some free time, she decided to take a look around their new home.

Outside, the sun shone brightly.

Standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows, she gazed down at the bustling streets below. Suddenly, her eyes landed on a prominent skyscraper in the distance.

“What are you looking at so intently?”

Someone wrapped his arms around her from behind.

Mo Junlin had already finished cleaning up.

After their intimate first night together, Qin Ruoyao no longer felt uncomfortable with his closeness.

Leaning back against him, she pointed toward the building.

“Is that your company?”

She had never visited the Mo Group headquarters before.

Following her gaze, Mo Junlin nodded.

“Yes. That’s the Mo Group. I’ll take you there sometime when I’m working.”

As he spoke, he carried her over to the small sofa by the window and sat down with her in his arms so she could rest more comfortably.

He was very pleased by how naturally she leaned against him.

Seeing that she wasn’t sleepy, he wanted to talk with her.

Turning around, Qin Ruoyao wrapped her arms around his neck and looked into his eyes.

“Really? Wouldn’t I disturb your work?”

Aside from her father’s company, she had never visited any corporate office before.

“Of course not. You’re welcome anytime.” He pulled her a little closer. “You’re the president’s wife, after all.”

The soft warmth of her skin brushing against his chest made it difficult for Mo Junlin to focus.

Qin Ruoyao was breathtakingly beautiful.

Her fair skin seemed to glow. Even without makeup, she was stunning.

Though he desperately wanted to hold her close and kiss her again, he remembered that she had only recently experienced her first night with him and that her body needed time to recover.

So he restrained himself.

At least, mostly.

Kissing her, however, was impossible to resist.

Originally seated on his lap, Qin Ruoyao soon found it difficult to sit still. She could clearly feel the tension in his body beneath her.

She wasn’t unaffected either.

“I’m going to take a shower.”

Carefully setting her back onto the sofa, Mo Junlin hurried toward the bathroom and shut the door behind him.

There was plenty of time ahead of them.

Covering her mouth, Qin Ruoyao curled up on the sofa and laughed quietly.

The truth was, she wouldn’t have refused him if he had wanted more.

Who would have thought that the cold and aloof President Mo everyone saw outside could be so gentle with her?

It made her feel both touched and overwhelmed.

For a moment, she almost forgot that this was supposed to be a novel—and that she already knew what would happen in the future.

Could it be that Mo Junlin had been just as gentle with the novel’s heroine?

Forget it, forget it. If I can’t figure it out, there’s no point overthinking it. I’ll just go with the flow. Things will work themselves out when the time comes, she thought.

What she really needed to worry about was tomorrow.

After all, she would be meeting the entire Mo family.

Lost in her thoughts, Qin Ruoyao didn’t even realize when she drifted off to sleep again.

It was Mo Junlin, fresh out of the shower, who eventually carried her back to bed.
