“Meier, what do we do? We’ve run into robbers!”

Tong Youyi gripped Su Meier’s hand tightly in fear.

It was only wide enough for three people to walk side by side, and not a single person was in sight.

Truly a place where calling for help would be useless.

With enemies both in front and behind, escape wasn’t an option.

It looked like they would have to fight.

“We don’t have any money. You’ve got the wrong people,” Su Meier said.

“Do you think we’re idiots?”

The man in front sneered.

“Look at everything you’re carrying. And you still claim you’re not rich?”

Sure enough, that woman hadn’t lied.

These two girls were fat sheep ready for slaughter, carrying bags full of valuables.

“That’s right! Unless you want your pretty faces slashed, leave everything behind—including the meat you bought!”

The leering man approaching from behind joined in.

Su Meier handed the meat she was carrying to Tong Youyi.

“Hold this for me.”

Then she shoved the entire popsicle in her mouth.

The freezing cold made her face twist in pain, but she stubbornly refused to spit it out.

“Meier, are you okay?” Tong Youyi asked worriedly.

“I’m fine. Just ate it too fast.”

After tossing away the popsicle stick, Su Meier rolled her neck and stretched her ankles.

She took a deep breath.

Her eyes became sharp and determined.

“If you don’t leave now, don’t blame me for being rude.”

“You?”

The two men burst into laughter.

“Little girl, are you trying to be funny?”

The man holding the knife looked at her with his murky triangular eyes.

“Since you’re pretty, if you’re obedient, I wouldn’t mind marrying you.”

“Bah! Two ugly toads dreaming of swan meat!”

Tong Youyi exploded in anger.

“Spicy little pepper, you’re not bad either. We’ve really hit the jackpot today—money and women. One for each of us.”

The skinny dark-skinned man rubbed his hands eagerly as he approached.

Su Meier stepped in front of Tong Youyi protectively and whispered,

“I’m going after the one with the knife first. Listen carefully. When I tell you to run, you run.”

Although she held a black belt in taekwondo, she lacked real combat experience.

Running was still the best strategy.

“Meier, can you really do it?”

Tong Youyi clung tightly to her arm.

“Don’t worry. I’ll give it a shot. Sometimes you have to gamble to win.”

Su Meier gently pulled free and stepped forward.

As the knife-wielding man got closer, he realized that the plainly dressed girl was even more beautiful than he’d first thought.

The grin on his face became even more disgusting.

“Little sister, I’ll treat you well as long as you’re obedient.”

“Listen to your grandmother’s head!”

The moment his guard dropped, Su Meier struck.

A flawless triple spinning kick exploded into motion.

In an instant, she kicked the knife from his hand and followed up with a powerful strike to his head.

After an impressive flip through the air, she landed, stumbling back several steps.

There was no helping it.

This body carried a lot more curves than she was used to, making her movements less agile.

Still, she had taken down the thug.

“Go, Youyi! Run!”

She grabbed Tong Youyi, who was still standing there in shock, and took off.

“Boss! Are you okay?”

The skinny man finally recovered from his disbelief and rushed over to help his companion.

The triangular-eyed man spat out a mouthful of blood.

One of his front teeth had clearly been knocked out.

“You bitch! You dared kick me? I’ll make you pay for this! Chase them!”

The two girls thought they would be safe once they reached a crowd.

Unfortunately, they underestimated the criminals’ cunning.

The two men chased after them while shouting loudly,

“Wife, stop running! I admit I was wrong!”

“Wife, come home with me!”

They called out repeatedly, trying to mislead the bystanders.

“Help us! They’re robbers! They’re criminals!”

Tong Youyi shouted desperately to the hesitant crowd.

Su Meier quickly realized this couldn’t continue.

Sooner or later, their stamina would run out.

Even then, they might not manage to shake the men.

The only solution was to use the power of the crowd to capture them and hand them over to the police.

So she suddenly stopped running.

“Meier! What’s wrong? Why did you stop? Hurry, they’re catching up!”

Tong Youyi tugged anxiously at her arm.

The truth was that both girls were already exhausted.

They were running purely on determination.

“If you’re not running, then neither am I.”

Tong Youyi bent over, gasping for breath.

“They’ve completely locked onto us. Today either they end up in the police station, or we’re finished.”

Su Meier’s expression was grim.

Who would have thought criminals in the 1970s used the same tricks as criminals everywhere else?

“What’s wrong? Why did you stop running?”

The two disgusting men smirked confidently as they approached.

“Why should we run? You’re the ones who should be running.”

Su Meier glared at them.

“Attacking people in broad daylight? You’re obviously repeat offenders.”

“Wife, what are you talking about?”

The triangular-eyed man looked hurt.

“I don’t understand. Wasn’t it just because I didn’t buy you meat? You stole my money to buy it yourself. I didn’t even hit you.”

“Bah! Pervert!”

Tong Youyi was furious.

“Who is your wife? We’re not even old enough to get married! Do you have any proof?”

“Sister-in-law, don’t be angry.”

The skinny man joined in.

“Whatever you want to eat in the future, we’ll buy it for you. No need to act on impulse.

Come home with us. Stop embarrassing yourselves.”

He shot Tong Youyi a threatening look.

That was the final straw.

Su Meier clenched her fists and launched another spinning kick.

The man’s remaining teeth flew from his mouth.

“You filthy dog! If you don’t want that mouth anymore, I’ll gladly kick it apart for you!”

“Meier, nice one! Hit him again! Smash his dog head!”

Tong Youyi cheered enthusiastically from the side.

The triangular-eyed man spat out another bloody mouthful and glared viciously at Su Meier.

“Wife, you’ve hit me enough to vent your anger. Can you come home with us now?”

Su Meier couldn’t hold back anymore.

“Go home with your mother! What proof do you have? You’re nothing but a disgusting lying toad!”

“Exactly!”

Tong Youyi immediately agreed.

“Everyone, look at us! We’re this beautiful. Why would we ever choose two disgusting toads like them?”

The crowd looked at the girl in yellow.

She was clearly dressed like someone from a wealthy family.

Then they looked at the two men, wearing dirty, patched clothes.

“Looks like they really are criminals.”

“The audacity! Committing crimes right in front of everyone.”

The crowd gradually began siding with the girls.

Just as people were about to swarm the two men, the triangular-eyed thug suddenly came up with another scheme.

“Don’t let them fool you!

These women stole our money. That’s how they bought all these fancy things.

Those spendthrift women have probably wasted every last cent of our savings!”

Both sides continued arguing.

Annoyingly enough, both stories sounded plausible.

The crowd, which had been ready to help, became uncertain again.

“Fine. I can’t be bothered arguing anymore.”

Su Meier flexed her leg, already tempted to kick someone again.

“If you’re really innocent, dare to come with us to the police station.”

“Look at this misunderstanding.”

The triangular-eyed man forced a smile.

“This is just a family matter. Why waste public resources?”

Of course they couldn’t go to the police station.

They weren’t idiots.

Su Meier had already come up with one final plan.

If it failed, they were finished.

Just as she was about to create a scene by grabbing something valuable from the crowd to force attention onto the matter, she suddenly spotted a familiar figure through the sea of people.

Perfect.

No need to sacrifice anyone’s property after all.

Immediately, she shouted at the top of her lungs,

“Comrade Song! Comrade Song Cili!”

Beside him, Shen Jianyang nudged the man.

“Brother Song, I think someone over there is calling for you.”

The two men turned toward the sound.
