Moya shook his head: "I've already eaten. This roast meat was prepared for you."
"All right."
So Gao Yue could only continue enjoying the roast meat alone, feeling both guilty and happy about it.
After eating a third of it, she finally adjusted to the delicious flavor, and her attention shifted away from the meat, eating while watching Moya work.
Moya was bent over chopping wood. He wore a python skin clothing with a slanted sleeve, exposing half a shoulder and his back. His skin seemed as if it had been tempered by moonlight, white and smooth, his back sturdy and flowing, the taut muscle lines rising and falling with his movements.
It wasn't the kind of muscle pumped up by gym protein powder—it was clearly the kind of muscle with extremely powerful explosive strength.
Moya noticed Gao Yue's gaze, his long narrow eyes sweeping toward her indifferently: "?"
Gao Yue withdrew her appreciative gaze with perfect naturalness and asked innocently, "What kind of animal is this meat from? It's really delicious."
Moya withdrew his own gaze and continued whittling the wood, saying, "Fire-Horned Sheep meat."
Fire-Horned Sheep?
Never heard of it.
Gao Yue committed the name to memory and continued watching Moya work—this work being done... was truly a pleasure to watch.
Gao Yue shook her head to clear it a little.
No, she couldn't fall for someone. She still had to find a way back to Earth.
Thinking of this, Gao Yue forcefully pulled her gaze back from where it had landed on Moya, and focused on eating the roast meat.
This man was too good-looking; looking too much would easily cause problems.
The portion of roast meat Moya had prepared was large. Gao Yue ate until she was stuffed, holding her stomach and taking deep breaths, but still couldn't finish it—about a fifth remained.
"I can't eat any more."
There was nothing for it; Gao Yue could only turn to Moya for help.
There was no refrigerator here, otherwise she could have put it in one to preserve it. She had no idea what to do with it here.
Moya put down his bone knife and came over, naturally finishing off the remaining roast meat in a few quick bites, then went back to making the wooden rack.
Gao Yue felt extremely embarrassed and stayed silent the whole time.
She rubbed her face.
Ever since arriving here, she kept feeling this sense of embarrassment... but it wasn't really her fault—mainly because no one had ever eaten her leftovers before.
It would be hard for any normal person to take that for granted, wouldn't it?
Soon Moya finished building the wooden rack, then set about carrying all the animal skins out of the cave to dry them on the rack.
Gao Yue wanted to lend a hand, but Moya wouldn't let her.
All the cream-yellow soft beast skins were hung on the wooden rack to dry. The sunlight was bright, the grass lush and green, and imagining the scent of sunshine that would linger on the soft beast skins after today put Gao Yue in a great mood.
She went over and started patting the animal skins with her hands, the way one pats a quilt.
After a couple of pats, Moya stopped her. He snapped off a small branch, whittled away the outer bark, and handed it to Gao Yue, telling her to use it to beat the skins instead.
Gao Yue beat the soft beast skin with the branch, and sure enough, a bit of dust came off with the beating.
In the sunlight, the dust motes danced, forming a Tyndall effect, breathtakingly beautiful.
As she kept at it, she got into the rhythm, striking and dusting fiercely with the branch—whack, whack, whack—until the animal skin thudded with each blow.
She thought she was hitting it pretty ferociously.
But to Moya's eyes, it looked like a pudgy kitten putting on a show of force—not even as imposing or strong as the Snowball Pig.
Thinking of the Snowball Pig, Moya felt that its fur also needed some sun, so he carried the Snowball Pig out of the cave as well and set it down in the spot with the strongest sunlight.
Gao Yue had to hold it while sleeping at night.
Just as the soft beast skins were finally drying fine, the Snowball Pig became a problem again.
"Oink oink~"
The Snowball Pig thought its owner was being kind to it and happily rolled over to show its belly.
She sat beside the wooden rack where the soft beast skins were drying, feeling the morning breeze and the scent of fresh grass. Sunlight filtered through the massive tree canopy, falling in dappled patches over her and Moya, warm and cozy.
Not far away, the Snowball Pig was using its round, plump body to nudge at a hole in a tree, single-mindedly gnawing at the potato roots hidden there, letting out satisfied grunts.
Since its back was turned to them, Gao Yue didn't see that it was eating potatoes and assumed it was just digging around aimlessly. The little pig's rear was white and fluffy, looking rather like a polar bear's bottom.
These days were passing a little too leisurely—she was starting to not even want to go back.
Gao Yue felt a bit thirsty.
She got up to look for the pot of overnight cooled boiled water from yesterday. She had covered it with a piece of clothing yesterday, so nothing dirty should have fallen in—drinking it should be fine.
When she got there, she found that Moya had boiled a fresh pot of water and left it to cool—touching it, it was already lukewarm.
Delighted, she thanked Moya, then found the black stone cup she had used yesterday and had Moya help her lift the stone pot to pour the water into the cup.
This stone cup was made of black stone, very thick, with walls about half a finger thick, about the size of a mouthwash cup. For her, it was a bit heavy to hold with one hand—like lifting a small dumbbell.
But Gao Yue didn't complain, and drank half the cup in one go.
The water here hadn't been through any industrial pollution, nor had any disinfectant powder been added. After boiling, it remained crisp and clear, sweet and refreshing to drink.
Moya's gaze fell on the fine tendons that tightened along the inside of Gao Yue's wrist as she drank.
He realized the cup was somewhat too heavy for her.
Moya suddenly asked, "Your bones are especially fragile. You need to drink boiled water, and the animal skins you use as covers need to be sun-dried. Besides that, is there anything else I need to watch out for?"
Gao Yue thought to herself that this question was truly embarrassing to answer.
