Sun Yonghui was completely confused. He didn’t understand why Commander Shen had such an expression. It seemed like he didn’t even know he already had three children.

He nervously spoke up.

“Sister-in-law opened a cake shop in the small county town, and she gave birth to three babies—two boys and one girl. They look about six or seven months old. The two boys look exactly like Commander Shen, like they were carved from the same mold.”Full novel: Transmigration: Becoming the Original Wife in a 1970s Novel, I Got a Divorce Immediately — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Shen Yunhe’s eyes widened in shock. He rushed forward and grabbed Sun Yonghui’s arm tightly, his hands trembling.

“What did you say? Banban gave birth? Triplets?!”

“Yes, yes! Commander Shen, you—” Sun Yonghui swallowed hard and instinctively leaned back.

Shen Yunhe suddenly released him and stepped back, standing frozen in place. A wave of bitterness surged in his chest.

When they divorced, she was already pregnant. He didn’t dare imagine how Jiang Banyue had survived alone while carrying three babies.

He suddenly raised his hand and slapped himself hard.

Smack!

“Commander Shen! What are you doing!” Sun Yonghui rushed forward to stop him.

“Commander Shen, what exactly happened?”

Shen Yunhe suppressed the ache in his chest, his voice trembling.

“I divorced her… and before that, I didn’t even know she was pregnant. I really am a damned bastard.”

“Ah!” Sun Yonghui had been away on a mission and later injured, so he had not known about the divorce.

“So sister-in-law is alone, running a shop and raising three kids… that must be so exhausting!”

Sun Yonghui felt he should have let Commander Shen hit himself a few more times. How could someone divorce such a good wife—and leave behind three adorable babies?

Shen Yunhe couldn’t wait any longer.

He had to go back. He had to find her—his wife and children.

His eyes were red, and his heart ached as if pierced by needles. Even his breathing became uneven.

At 5 p.m., in Chuan’an County.

At the “Sweet Little House” shop on the street, Mother Jiang came with Jiang Qingfeng and Jiang Qingyue, each holding a baby.

Mother Jiang reminded her daughter:

“Banban, the babies have already eaten dinner. You don’t need to feed them again tonight. I washed their dirty clothes—they’re in the bag. Take them out and hang them up.”

“Okay.”

Jiang Banyue took the clean clothes upstairs and hung them by the stair railing.

Mother Jiang looked at her grandson in her arms, then at her son and daughter.

“Alright, put the babies down. We should head home.”

Jiang Qingyue kissed the baby in her arms reluctantly.

“Baby, Auntie will come see you next time. Be good at home.”

Jiang Banyue took all three babies into her arms tightly, burying her face among them and inhaling deeply. They smelled faintly of milk.

“Babies, did you miss Mommy? Mommy missed you so much.”

The babies stretched out their chubby little arms and hugged her, babbling softly.

Jiang Huaijin spoke in a baby voice:

“Mommy, Grandma, Uncle, and Auntie took us to the park today. Great-grandpa went too.”

“Baby, did you have fun?”

“Yes! But we missed Mommy a little.”

Jiang Huaijin leaned against her affectionately.

In his past life, he had been born without a mother. He once dreamed of crying and calling for her. When he missed her, he would wrap himself tightly in a blanket, pretending she was holding him.

To him, his mother was someone who protected him from all the storms in the world.

He had a photo of her in his previous life. He cherished it more than life itself, keeping it in his chest pocket every day. When he died, his blood stained that photo. With his last strength, he touched it and made a wish:

“If there is a next life, I want my mother to stay with me forever. I don’t want her to leave me.”

He never expected that when he opened his eyes again, he would be back in his mother’s womb—and that she had survived too.

The moment he saw her again, he cried uncontrollably, afraid it was just a dream before death.

Until now, he still felt unreal.

He rested his little head on her shoulder.

“Mom… are you really real? Am I dreaming? Is this all something I imagined before I die?”

“Baby,” Jiang Banyue’s heart ached unbearably. She held him tightly.

“Mom is here. Touch my face—am I real?”

His small hand touched her face, but his vision was blurred with tears.

“I can’t see Mom clearly…”

Jiang Banyue didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. She quickly carried the babies upstairs, washed his face, and wiped it clean.

“Now can you see Mommy?”

“Yes.”

He sniffled and shyly buried himself in her arms.

Jiang Banyue kissed him gently.

“Baby is so cute. Mommy loves you.”

The four of them played until past nine, then went to sleep.

In the middle of the night, the youngest baby, Jiang Huarou, suddenly cried nonstop.

When Jiang Banyue turned on the small lamp, she saw the baby’s face flushed red with fever and rapid breathing. She panicked immediately and got up to dress them.

“Babies, wake up. Your sister has a fever. Mommy is taking you to the hospital!”

The second baby Jiang Huaiyu woke up crying, still groggy.

Jiang Huaijin sat up and tried to comfort him, then looked worriedly at his sister.

“Mom, take her to the hospital. I’ll stay home with the second baby.”

“No!”

Jiang Banyue didn’t dare leave them alone. Even though the eldest was reincarnated, he was still too small. If anything happened at home, he couldn’t handle it.

“I’ll carry you all together!”

She regretted again not installing a telephone. If she had one, she could have called her parents for help.

She wrapped the two babies tightly in blankets and tied them on her back, while holding the feverish third baby in front.

“Be good, baby. Don’t cry. Mommy is taking you to the hospital.”

She grabbed all the money in the house and hurried downstairs.

Just as she opened the shop door, someone stood in front of her.

She looked up—it was Gu Qingci.

“You’re here?”

“I passed by and heard the babies crying upstairs. I was worried something happened, so I came to check.”

He took the feverish baby from her arms, touched her forehead, and realized the child had a fever.

Without hesitation, he carried the baby and rushed to his car.

“Come with me. I’ll drive you to the hospital!”

“Okay!”

Jiang Banyue adjusted the two babies on her back and got into the car.

She held the third baby tightly in her arms, tears falling as she pressed her cheek against the burning little face.

“Baby, don’t scare Mommy…”

“Banban, don’t cry. Fever in children is normal. A shot at the hospital will be enough,” Gu Qingci comforted her.

The roads were empty at night. He drove as fast as possible.

Through the rearview mirror, he saw her crying while holding the children.

His chest tightened.

He suddenly had the urge to hold her and the children in his arms… and become their support.
