After the Shen family left, the shop became quiet again.

The nanny was feeding the babies formula milk.

Shen Yunhe walked toward Jiang Banyue, who was sitting at the front desk with her head lowered, calculating accounts.Full novel: Transmigration: Becoming the Original Wife in a 1970s Novel, I Got a Divorce Immediately — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Banyue… I regret the divorce. Give me another chance, okay? I’ll cherish you this time.”

Jiang Banyue looked up at him.

“If you want to remarry just because of the children, there’s no need. I won’t stop you from seeing them. You can come visit anytime.”

“No! It’s not because of the children—it’s because of you.”

Shen Yunhe hurriedly explained, sweat breaking out on his forehead. He was afraid she would misunderstand him.

Jiang Banyue let out a cold laugh.

“I can earn my own money, and I have three lovely children. My life is more comfortable than ever. Why would I remarry you?

Do you even know that after I married you, that woman Liu Juan came to my house every day?

She would call your name affectionately in front of me, say you treated her like a younger sister, cared about her a lot, and even told me everything you did every day like she knew you better than anyone.

Meanwhile, as your wife, I felt like an outsider who knew nothing. If I didn’t know better, I would’ve thought she was your wife instead!”

Thinking about it, her anger surged again. The more she looked at him, the more displeased she became.

Shen Yunhe stared at her in shock, quickly explaining.

“I’m not familiar with that woman at all. There’s no way I treated her like a sister. I have nothing to do with her! Believe me—I swear to you, I’ve been completely loyal in our marriage. I’ve never done anything to betray you!”

Jiang Banyue calmed slightly, then felt strangely irritated at her own anger.

Why was she so upset? She hadn’t even been the one married to him.

“Just leave. I won’t remarry you.”

Shen Yunhe rubbed his temples in frustration, then looked at her firmly.

“Don’t worry. I’ll deal with Liu Juan. She caused our divorce and broke our family apart—I won’t let her off.”

“I don’t want to hear anything about the male and female leads. Just leave. I don’t want to see you.”

She turned and walked toward the babies.

Looking at her back, Shen Yunhe felt a wave of bitterness and pain. He pressed a hand to his chest and took a deep breath, forcing a smile—but he couldn’t manage it.

After a long silence, he walked to the babies and tightly hugged all three of them.

“Be good and listen to Mommy. Daddy has something to do and will be away for a while. I’ll come back when I’m free.”

Erbao and Sanbao immediately cried upon sensing his sadness. The two nannies quickly stepped forward to take them and soothe them.

Jiang Huaijin, however, stayed quietly in his father’s arms.

He knew his mother was asking his father to leave, and he couldn’t blame her—she was only trying to protect them.

A tear fell from Shen Yunhe’s eye onto his neck, cold and trembling.

“Baby… Daddy loves you. And Daddy loves your mommy too.”

Jiang Huaijin felt heartache for his father but didn’t know what to do.

Finally, Shen Yunhe steeled himself and set him down, turning to leave.

But Jiang Huaijin’s heart tightened.

“Daddy… Daddy, don’t go…”

Hearing his son’s cry, Shen Yunhe stopped, then turned back in surprise and rushed forward to pick him up again, kissing him repeatedly.

“My good son, call Daddy again!”

“Daddy!”

Jiang Huaijin nestled into his father’s arms, resting his head on his broad shoulder, rubbing against him affectionately. Both father and son treasured their time together.

Jiang Banyue watched helplessly.

“Is this really necessary? It’s not like you’ll never see each other again. I already said you can visit anytime, and when the kids grow up, they can even go find you at the military base. Why are you acting like this is a life-or-death farewell?”

The father and son turned to look at her at the same time, both with identical faces.

Jiang Huaijin clasped his hands together, looking at her pitifully.

“Mommy… please… let Daddy stay?”

Seeing his son pleading so hard, Shen Yunhe also quickly added:

“I can cook, take care of the kids, clean the shop, and do laundry.”

Both of them looked at her expectantly, leaving Jiang Banyue awkwardly speechless—as if she were the villain separating Xu Xian and the White Snake.

“…Fine. Do whatever you want.”

The father and son immediately hugged each other in excitement.

Shen Yunhe took Erbao and Sanbao from the nanny and said:

“You two can take half a month off. Come back after that.”

After the nannies left, Jiang Banyue looked at him suspiciously.

“Are you sure you can handle three babies alone? Erbao is very active, Sanbao is very clingy, and you still have to cook, clean, and do laundry. You won’t manage it.”

“I can!” he said firmly. “They’re all very well-behaved. These are just small things—I can handle it.”

He was overflowing with paternal enthusiasm and energy.

“Alright then.”

Jiang Banyue decided he would learn reality the hard way. Taking care of even one baby was exhausting—let alone two active ones. Erbao even treated nights as playtime.

Still, nothing she said would help. He would have to experience it himself.

First night: Erbao refused to sleep, and Shen Yunhe enthusiastically played with him.

Second night: Sanbao cried and demanded to be held while walking constantly. He carried her all night.

Third day: dark circles appeared under his eyes, his arms ached, and yet he still insisted on cooking, cleaning, and doing laundry.

Finally, Jiang Banyue couldn’t help but suggest, “Maybe… bring the nannies back?”

“No need. I can do it alone.”

After these days of being a full-time dad, he only felt even more heartache for Jiang Banyue.

“Banyue… I’m sorry. You’ve been taking care of the children alone so hard all this time.”

The corner of Jiang Banyue’s mouth twitched.

Brother… I have two nannies. I’m really not that exhausted. You’re overthinking this way too much.
