Shen Yunhe arrived at the cultural troupe leader’s office. A man in his forties was sitting inside. Seeing him storm in angrily, Zhao Anguo quickly stood up.
“Ah, Commander Shen! Come, have a seat!”
Zhao Anguo took out a cup, added tea leaves, poured hot water, and placed it on the table before sitting on the sofa.
“Old Shen, what’s going on? Why are you so angry? Who provoked you?”
Just as Shen Yunhe was about to speak, the door suddenly slammed open with a “bang.” Liu Juan stood at the entrance with red, tearful eyes, looking pitiful.
Zhao Anguo put down his cup and scolded coldly.
“Who are you? How dare you barge in like this? Don’t you know to report before entering?”
Liu Juan was frightened by the reprimand and immediately stood straight, giving a military salute.
“Report! My name is Liu Juan.”
“Who is your superior?” Zhao Anguo asked sternly.
Liu Juan was so nervous she couldn’t speak and looked toward Shen Yunhe for help.
Shen Yunhe calmly took a sip of tea and didn’t even glance at her.
Zhao Anguo slammed the table.
“I’m asking you a question—why are you looking at Commander Shen?”
He pointed at Liu Juan and then turned to Shen Yunhe.
“Do you know her?”
“I don’t.”
Shen Yunhe frowned slightly, a flash of contempt and disgust in his eyes.
Liu Juan couldn’t believe it. She shook her head as tears kept falling.
Seeing this, Zhao Anguo became furious. This woman had barged into his office and started crying—what was this, a funeral?
He stormed to the door and shouted outside:
“Xiao Zhang! Xiao Zhang! Come here!”
The guard Xiao Zhang ran over.
“Commander, what do you need?”
“Go check this woman’s information. Call her platoon leader here!”
“Yes!”
Xiao Zhang saluted, then looked at Liu Juan.
“Oh! Commander, I know her. She’s the cultural troupe’s so-called ‘beauty.’ She’s from Seventh Platoon. Very famous—she keeps chasing after Commander Shen everywhere. Commander Shen is very annoyed by her and can’t get rid of her. Everyone in the unit knows her.”
“What!” Zhao Anguo looked between Liu Juan and Shen Yunhe.
“So she came here to complain about you?”
Shen Yunhe stood up and walked toward Zhao Anguo.
“Old Zhao, you really need to discipline your troops properly. They have nothing better to do all day and end up doing things only hooligans would do!”
After saying that, he turned and left. Zhao Anguo was left speechless.
“You… I…”
Seeing that Shen Yunhe was leaving, Liu Juan tried to chase after him, but Zhao Anguo roared.
“Stop right there! Did I say you could leave? No discipline at all! How is your platoon leader training you?”
He turned to Xiao Zhang and shouted:
“Go call the Seventh Platoon leader! I want to ask her how she manages her soldiers! If she can’t, she can step down and let someone capable take over!”
Liu Juan panicked instantly. If she offended the platoon leader, how could she stay in the Seventh Platoon?
“Commander, it’s my fault. It has nothing to do with the platoon leader. I…”
“Shut up! Wait until your platoon leader arrives!”
Liu Juan’s mind went blank. She stood there trembling.
She was finished.
Soon, a woman in her twenties rushed over and stopped at the door.
“Report! Commander, I am Seventh Platoon leader Zhang Yan.”
Zhao Anguo pointed at Liu Juan and questioned her.
“This is the soldier under your command? No discipline at all, no rules whatsoever! How do you train your troops? Take her back and train her properly! If this happens again, she’s being sent back!”
Zhang Yan’s eyes burned with anger as she glared at Liu Juan. She saluted.
“Yes!”
Zhang Yan led Liu Juan out of the office. She was furious. After nearly ten years in the army, this was the first time she had been scolded by leadership. It was all because of Liu Juan. If she hadn’t been constantly chasing Commander Shen and causing such shameless trouble, she wouldn’t have dragged her down. She had completely ruined her reputation.
Liu Juan, under the platoon leader’s sharp gaze, lowered her head and didn’t dare to speak.
