After his voice fell, a constable stepped out from behind the bushes. When he saw Jun Wan approaching, his face immediately darkened.

“Who allowed you to come here?”

Jun Wan didn’t mind his attitude and simply said, “I know some medical skills. I can take a look at him.”Full novel: Transmigration: Exiled with Her Son, She Accidentally Became Empress — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“You?” the constable said disdainfully. “What does a woman like you know? And do you even know what happened inside? Do you think this is something you can treat?”

Jun Wan silently thought to herself that she had already heard a woman’s scream, and in such a hidden place, it was obvious what had happened. She had seen such things before—modern films had shown far worse.

Still, she said calmly, “I may not know exactly what happened, but I do know he urgently needs treatment, don’t I?”

From behind the bushes, Zheng An heard her voice and, before the constable could object, said, “Li Wu, let her in.”

They were in a place with no village ahead and no shop behind. He had already sent someone to find a doctor, but there was no other option. Since someone claimed they could treat him, he could only try.

Li Wu glared fiercely at Jun Wan, then stepped aside to let her pass.

Jun Wan felt that Li Wu seemed to harbor hostility toward her. Had she offended him before? She shook her head—she had never even met him before, so how could that be?

Suddenly, she seemed to realize something and frowned slightly, turning back to glance at him.

Li Wu, who had been staring at her back with killing intent, didn’t expect her to suddenly turn around. He had no time to withdraw his gaze, so he met her eyes with a provocative look instead.

Jun Wan snorted coldly and turned away, walking toward Zheng An.

Behind the bushes, she saw Fan Wei lying on the ground with his clothes covering him. There was white foam at the corner of his mouth, and he had already lost consciousness, breathing as if he were on the verge of death.

Zheng An was guarding him helplessly, his eyes burning with anxiety, while Ding Shi stood nearby wrapped in a garment, trembling and crying uncontrollably.

Seeing this, Jun Wan immediately judged that Fan Wei was likely having an epileptic seizure.

She quickly knelt beside him, checking his condition while asking Zheng An about his medical history.

From Zheng An, she learned that Fan Wei did indeed suffer from epilepsy, and everyone in the surrounding villages knew about it. That was also why, even at over twenty years old, he had not yet married.

“He had been much better these past one or two years. I don’t know why it suddenly happened again today,” Zheng An said in frustration.

His brother-in-law was already old enough but still unmarried, so his wife had insisted he bring Fan Wei along to earn some money for a bride price. He never expected something like this to happen.

Jun Wan understood clearly—Fan Wei had likely never been close to a woman before. Today, being seduced by Ding Shi had stirred his emotions, triggering the attack. And his condition was already serious; if not treated in time, it could become life-threatening.

“Fan Wei! Fan Wei!” she called.

She patted his shoulder twice, but he showed no response, so she immediately decided to perform CPR.

This was ancient times, and due to propriety between men and women, she decided to have Zheng An perform rescue breathing while she handled chest compressions.

After explaining the procedure, she began compressions, while Zheng An stood there stunned.

The Jun family woman actually wanted him to… breathe into him? He looked as if he had seen a ghost.

After thirty compressions, Jun Wan instructed Zheng An to tilt Fan Wei’s head to the side, check his mouth for any obstructions, and then perform rescue breathing.

Zheng An gritted his teeth, still conflicted, but finally forced himself to follow her instructions and gave two breaths.

Jun Wan continued compressions, and the two worked together until Fan Wei’s heartbeat slowly returned.

Only then did she stop.

Once she confirmed he was out of danger, she finally relaxed and glanced meaningfully at Ding Shi before standing up and leaving.

After all, Fan Wei was only covered with a single piece of clothing, and he was still naked underneath.

Seeing him regain his heartbeat and color, Zheng An was deeply shocked—she truly knew medical skills.

Ding Shi quickly put her clothes back on and looked at Jun Wan’s back with resentment.

If they hadn’t driven her away, she wouldn’t have had to humiliate herself like this and become a laughingstock.

Fan Wei slowly woke up, opening his eyes to see Zheng An desperately wiping his mouth with a disgusted expression.

“Brother-in-law?” Fan Wei was still confused.

“Get dressed and go back. Don’t embarrass us,” Zheng An said coldly, glaring at Ding Shi before leaving.

Ding Shi shivered under his gaze and quickly helped Fan Wei get dressed after he left.

Only then did Fan Wei remember what had happened, and his expression became awkward.

Meanwhile, when Jun Wan returned, she found that Imperial Noble Consort Yi and the others were still awake, all waiting anxiously for her. Even Mo Lian looked toward the bushes with complicated emotions, and only relaxed after she returned.

“Are you alright?” the Imperial Noble Consort asked.

“I’m fine. Everyone should sleep. We still have to travel at dawn.”

With that, Jun Wan got back into the carriage.

Everyone lay down again.

At that moment, Ding Shi quietly returned to the exile group and lay down, ignoring the strange looks from those around her.

At dawn, the officer shouted, “Get up! Get up! Prepare to move out!”

Jun Wan also brought Nanny Lin and little Jingchen out of her space.

The exile group only had two meals a day—one at mid-morning (巳时) and one in the evening (酉时). They did not eat breakfast at all.

But Jun Wan needed to feed the baby, and she was still recovering from childbirth. Even without delicacies, she could not go hungry.

Imperial Noble Consort Yi got up early before the officers awakened, reheated the leftover buns and meat from the previous day, and boiled a pot of water for her.

Lanzhi and the two concubines also helped, using a pot borrowed from the officers.

By the time the officers called everyone to get up, breakfast was already ready for Jun Wan.

Many people in the exile group had once lived in comfort, and after walking all day yesterday, their bodies had only just recovered overnight. Now they were sore all over.

Some of the younger ones even lay there with their eyes closed, refusing to get up.

“Smack!”

Li Wu whipped his lash on the ground. “Anyone who dares to be lazy again will taste my whip!”

Most people immediately scrambled up in fear of being struck.

However, there were exceptions.

In the Shi family’s resting area, everyone else had gotten up—only Old Lady Shi was still lying motionless.

Shi Wenqing quickly rushed over, knelt beside her, and shook her.

“Mother? Mother? What’s wrong? Don’t scare me, Mother!”
