“Hey, Heizi, I’m really sorry to trouble you to hitch up the ox cart and take me to the commune. After Lu Miaomiao and I finalize the divorce, I’ll come back immediately and try not to delay your work.”

A voice as melodious as heavenly music—clear and magnetically pleasant—reached Lu Miaomiao’s ears without warning.

It instantly soothed much of her irritation from having encountered someone she disliked so early in the morning.Full novel: Transmigration: Female Apocalypse Boss Transmigrate to the 1970s — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Oh, right. This was the voice of the original host’s husband, Xiao Bi’an.

“It’s no trouble at all. We’re brothers who grew up together!” a rough male voice replied heartily.

At that moment, a sudden and intense pain surged through Lu Miaomiao’s head, like countless needles piercing her mind simultaneously.

She groaned in agony, clutching her head tightly with both hands in an attempt to ease the excruciating pain. However, the sensation only intensified, as if a merciless hand were squeezing her skull, making it almost impossible to breathe.

Under this torment, her consciousness gradually blurred, and the world before her eyes became indistinct. Her body trembled uncontrollably before she finally lost all awareness and collapsed to the ground.

When she awoke again, she was still in the same room, staring blankly at the dilapidated ceiling.

When she first regained consciousness, she only knew that she had transmigrated and possessed memories of the original body from the period after being sent to the countryside. Now, those missing memories had finally been completely restored.

As for why only part of the memories had surfaced earlier, it was because her body in the apocalypse was still undergoing emergency treatment at the time. Now that the rescue had failed, she had completely died.

She was dead!

And the worse news?

She had actually died because of a banana peel.

How utterly embarrassing!

Who would believe such a thing if it were told? Such a dramatic and cliché twist had actually happened to her. It was like saying that the King of Hell had died from hiccups—no one would believe it.

Heh.

Fortunately, amid the misfortune, she had been given another chance at life.

She had been reborn in the 1970s, inhabiting the body of a beautiful 18-year-old female educated youth who shared her exact name—Lu Miaomiao.

After fainting, her soul had briefly returned to the apocalypse, where she personally witnessed doctors declare her beyond saving. She also saw several base leaders discuss and eventually hold a grand and solemn funeral in her honor.

After her death, the cheerful little chubby man took over her position as leader and performed quite well. He was also the only one who shed a few sincere tears for her, proving that her care for him over the past decade had not been in vain.

As for the others, they merely wailed perfunctorily before leaving one after another—going through the motions to avoid criticism.

Just as she wanted to see who would ultimately be elected president, a powerful suction force suddenly pulled her back into this body.

Immediately afterward, all of the original host’s memories flooded into her mind. However, since they belonged to someone else, she felt little personal attachment to them.

The original Lu Miaomiao lived in Beijing and came from a prominent family:

The elder brother’s wife, Ouyang Jingjing, who had been living with the family in Beijing, betrayed the Lu family. After testifying against them, she abandoned her two-year-old son, Lu Zhengming, divorced Lu Pengcheng, and remarried Sun Changqing, the elder brother of the Sun family.

What should have been a happy and harmonious family was ultimately destroyed by the original host’s extreme lovesickness and foolishness.

The families lived in the same military compound, and the children often played together. Over time, the original host fell in love with the grandson of her grandfather’s former subordinate, Sun Changbai.

Since the two families had a good relationship, the grandfathers arranged their engagement when the pair were only fourteen.

As the first daughter in the family, the original host was doted upon excessively, which led to her becoming willful, domineering, and somewhat naïve.

One day, while the two secretly went out for a stroll, Sun Changbai told her with difficulty that their engagement might have to be called off.

Naturally, she panicked. She genuinely liked this handsome fiancé who always prioritized her and enhanced her social standing.

Sun Changbai explained that his father, a deputy factory director, had inadvertently discovered that her father had privately accepted bribes and arranged jobs for others. He claimed that this behavior betrayed the trust of the Party and the nation. Although their families had known each other for years and he did not wish to report them, he insisted that the two of them could no longer be together.

“Th-Then what should I do? I haven’t taken any bribes! That was all my father’s doing!” the original host said anxiously, desperate to prove her innocence.

“But you’re still a family,” Sun Changbai replied. “I also want to be with you forever—get married, have children, and grow old together. But I cannot betray the Party or the country. I can only betray you.”

He gazed at her with deep affection, speaking as though filled with sorrow and helplessness.

“Isn’t there any other way? Brother Changbai, I don’t want anyone but you,” Lu Miaomiao pleaded, looking at him with tearful eyes.

“I do have a solution, but I can’t bring myself to say it,” he answered hesitantly.

“Please tell me! I’ll definitely do it. For you, I’m willing to do anything,” she said, biting her lower lip, her eyes brimming with devotion.

“I still can’t say it.”

After this melodramatic exchange, they continued their emotional performance until, more than ten minutes later, Sun Changbai finally revealed his “solution.”

“What? You want me to report my own father?” Lu Miaomiao’s innocent eyes widened in shock.

A flicker of guilt crossed Sun Changbai’s eyes, but he quickly steeled himself and said with feigned sincerity and sorrow:

“Only by placing righteousness above family can you prove your innocence. Of course, if you’re unwilling, I understand—it is your family, after all. But I’m afraid our promise to grow old together will have to be broken.”

“No! If he did something wrong, he should be punished. Why should I be implicated? Brother Changbai, I’ll report him right away,” she declared without hesitation.

And so, the original host reported her own father.

Although no concrete evidence was ultimately found, the accusation from his own daughter—combined with the testimony of her sister-in-law, Ouyang Jingjing—became the most damning evidence. After all, who would deliberately harm their own family and give up their privileged status as the daughter and daughter-in-law of a factory director unless it were true?

As a result, the original host’s parents, brother, younger siblings, and even her grandfather were implicated and sent down for re-education. Only the original host and her sister-in-law were allowed to remain in the city due to their “meritorious” reporting.

Believing that justice had been served, the original host even considered herself the embodiment of righteousness.
