The surgery was scheduled for the afternoon.

Song Wenxi carefully read through the surgical informed consent form, her head spinning at all the listed potential risks. In principle, Mo Hanche could have signed it himself, but since she was there, she neatly signed as his guardian. When she looked up, she met his obscure, unreadable gaze.

Song Wenxi assumed he was nervous. “I watched the 3D animation of the surgery. It looks pretty simple, so you don’t need to be nervous.”Full novel: Transmigration: I Became the Mother of Three Cannon-Fodder Kids and Won Big — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Mo Hanche took her hand. “Song Wenxi, I haven’t had time to make a will yet.”

“……”

“Then why don’t you make one before the surgery?”

Mo Hanche let go of her hand, turned away, closed his eyes, and refused to look at her.

Song Wenxi pouted. What an ungrateful man—she had been taking care of him all day, and now he was testing her like this.

The surgery lasted two hours and was a complete success.

Mo Hanche returned to the ward and woke up within ten minutes. The first thing he saw was Song Wenxi resting her chin on her hand, staring at him. At that moment, the coldness in his heart felt like a spring breeze passing through—ice quietly melting, seeds breaking through their shells, sprouting tender shoots.

“Mo Hanche, how do you feel?”

He placed a hand over his chest and curved his lips slightly. “My chest feels… comfortable.”

Song Wenxi froze for a few seconds. He looked so good when he smiled. Why did he always keep that cold face in normal times?

“Dr. Shen said you need to rest in bed and can only get up tomorrow morning. You’ll need to stay in the hospital for at least three days. Your condition is due to overwork, so you really need to take it easy in the future…”

Her voice was like a clear spring, flowing gently through him, soothing and cool.

Until she said:

“I’m going to pick up the kids later, I won’t come back tonight.”

“I just had surgery and can’t move.”

“There are nurses.”

Mo Hanche silently protested—but it was useless. She really left.

The door opened again. His eyes lit up instantly—only to be disappointed the next second.

“Tch, when did our ice mountain start developing feelings?” Shen Shizhan closed the door with his hand and sat on the sofa with a cup of tea.

“Nonsense,” Mo Hanche replied. “I haven’t had emotions for five years. How could I develop them in just three or four days?”

“You didn’t used to have this many emotional reactions,” Shen Shizhan said.

Obedience, enjoyment, pretending to be weak, anticipation, disappointment… In ten years, Mo Hanche had never shown as many emotions as he did in just one day.

Mo Hanche glanced at him lightly, too lazy to argue, and yawned. “Just say it. How much do you need?”

He didn’t believe Shen Shizhan had come just for a minor surgery.

“How embarrassing…”

“Then forget it.”

“Twenty million. The new hospital in Jiangcheng is nearly complete. I want to bring in advanced medical equipment…”

“Go talk to Qin Si.”

“Got it. Thanks, big boss.”

Shen Shizhan stood up, dutifully poured him water, and nagged him with instructions until Mo Hanche grew impatient.

“I’m heading back to the capital. For the next month, take it easy—no intense activities—”

“Get lost!”

“Alright.”

The door closed. Silence returned.

Mo Hanche picked up his phone, sent a message to Qin Si, then opened Song Wenxi’s chat—no new messages. He put the phone down and went to sleep.

At Kaisheng International Kindergarten, there were still ten minutes before dismissal.

Just after Song Wenxi parked, Uncle Tang called. From his hurried explanation, she quickly pieced things together.

Her three little kids had gotten into a fight.

The teacher had contacted the guardian, since she didn’t have the children’s parents’ numbers. The exact situation was still unclear.

Thinking of the chubby boy from yesterday, Song Wenxi’s heart tightened. She rushed into the kindergarten. Before she even reached the teacher’s office, a hoarse, ear-piercing cry rang out through the air.

Good heavens—was that voice broken from crying?

She didn’t even bother with manners anymore, lifted her skirt, and ran straight into the office.

“Are the babies okay?!”

While catching her breath, she also saw the situation clearly: a female teacher was trying to calm down the wailing chubby boy, while her three kids stood neatly opposite him. Their little faces were confused—then the moment they saw Song Wenxi, their eyes lit up with surprise.

“Mom.”

The three little dumplings called out at the same time and rushed into her arms, their small faces bright like the sun.

Song Wenxi was a little stunned. After confirming that all three children were fine, she finally let out a sigh of relief.

The chubby boy stared at her and even forgot to cry.

Teacher Yang hadn’t expected that the parent would arrive immediately after she made the call.

“You’re the mother of the triplets?”

“Yes, teacher. What happened?”

Teacher Yang patiently explained the situation. It turned out that the chubby boy—oh right, his name was Qi Hao’an—had suddenly burst into tears and ran to the teacher to complain, saying Mo Beiyu and Mo Dongchen had hit him. The teacher had questioned the three children and checked the surveillance footage, which clearly showed nothing of the sort. Yet Qi Hao’an insisted that the triplets had hit him.

“This child just refuses to tell the truth no matter how much we ask,” Teacher Yang said helplessly. “I’m really sorry, Mrs. Mo. Please wait a moment—the other parent should be arriving soon too.”

Upon hearing this, Qi Hao’an immediately started crying again.

Song Wenxi frowned slightly. She exchanged contact information with the teacher, copied the day’s surveillance footage, and registered an account for the kindergarten’s remote monitoring system.

After that, she placed the three little ones on a wooden bench and took out three lollipops from her bag.

Qi Hao’an kept staring at them. His crying slowly turned into sniffles. He felt a little envious—their mother was really beautiful, gentle, and even hugged them.

Song Wenxi walked over to Qi Hao’an, squatted down, narrowed her eyes, and said slowly, “I am the mother of Mo Beiyu, Mo Nanqing, and Mo Dongchen. They have a mother. They are my treasures.”

The three little ones’ eyes lit up with pride when they heard this.

Song Wenxi leaned closer to Qi Hao’an and said in a slightly eerie tone, “Let me tell you a secret. Liars turn ugly—their eyes get smaller and smaller, their tongues get swallowed by themselves, they won’t be able to run fast anymore, and their hands and feet will slowly get eaten by fat monsters. Eaten.”

The chubby boy was already so plump that his eyes were squeezed into thin slits. This kind of scare might’ve been a bit harsh—but she felt it could go even further. After all, he had bullied her three babies.

Qi Hao’an puckered his lips and was about to cry again, but Song Wenxi just stared at him until he swallowed his tears back down.

She unwrapped a lollipop and slowly ate it in front of him, then walked back and sat between her three children.

The mother and three kids sat together, all eating lollipops in sync, all staring at Qi Hao’an.

Qi Hao’an looked at them and… forgot how to cry.

Teacher Yang quietly took a deep breath and finally relaxed. Qi Hao’an usually caused trouble every few days, and none of her methods ever worked. She hadn’t expected someone to actually handle him.

Just then, the office door was suddenly pushed open.

A tall woman wearing sunglasses stormed in, her voice sharp and piercing. “Teacher Yang, what’s going on now? Who’s bullying my An’an this time?”

She took off her sunglasses, revealing eyes so large they looked almost exaggerated. When she glared, they seemed ready to pop out, frightening the children, who instinctively moved closer to Song Wenxi.

The woman—He Minmin—frowned hard.

“Again you people?”

Teacher Yang quickly stepped forward to explain the situation in detail.

Song Wenxi gently patted the children’s heads to calm them. “Teacher Yang, since this has nothing to do with us, I’ll take the kids home now.”

She stood up, and the three children slid down from the bench.

“Alright, take care,” Teacher Yang said, not wanting to keep them any longer.

“Wait! No one is leaving until this is clear!” He Minmin stepped forward and blocked Song Wenxi, looking down at her arrogantly.

Teacher Yang’s heart sank. She had expected this wouldn’t go smoothly. She pulled up the surveillance footage again and repeatedly explained the facts—but the other party refused to listen.

Even with video evidence, the woman still denied everything. Either she was willfully unreasonable or simply abusing her power.

Song Wenxi casually held the lollipop in her hand and spoke calmly, “What exactly does this lady want?”

He Minmin saw the mother and children still calmly eating candy without a trace of panic, and her expression grew even colder.

She pointed at the three children sharply. “They must apologize to my An’an.”

Song Wenxi let out a faint laugh. “Impossible. You came looking for trouble and now you want an apology? That doesn’t make sense.”

He Minmin snorted coldly. “My An’an said they hit him, so they did. Since they hit someone, either let him hit them back, or they apologize.”

In a civilized, law-based society, hearing something so unreasonable left even Song Wenxi momentarily impressed by the audacity.

She walked over to Qi Hao’an, squatted down so they were eye level, and asked, “Kid, who did you fight with?”

Qi Hao’an stared blankly at her, then said involuntarily, “With Qi Muzhang. He hit me.”

At that name, Song Wenxi’s eyes suddenly narrowed, a sharp cold light flashing across them.

Qi Hao’an burst into loud tears again. “Waaah—it wasn’t Mo Beiyu and the others! It was my brother! My brother hit me! I’m not lying! Waaah!”

Song Wenxi stood up, turned around, and said expressionlessly to He Minmin, “Did you hear that, madam? Your child is too wild—he’s practically like a little delinquent. You should really teach him properly.”

“You!” He Minmin glared at her. Seeing that the other side showed no fear at all, and realizing she was in the wrong, she grabbed Qi Hao’an and stormed out, silently remembering this mother and her children.

Song Wenxi watched their backs, her gaze darkening.

Only when a small hand tugged at her skirt did she come back to her senses. She suppressed her emotions, said goodbye to the teacher, and left holding the three children’s hands.
