Listening to Lin Wan’s calm nonsense, Old Madam Wu was a bit stunned. Although she was an old rural woman who didn’t really understand imperial law, she had at least heard of the term “breaking into a private residence.”

But she only froze for a moment before quickly reacting.

“Bullshit! You little wretch, stop spouting nonsense! This is just a shabby little courtyard, not some grand mansion!”Full novel: Transmigration into a Heir of a Marquis Family’s Wife; Perfect—I’ll Take Him Home as My Husband — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

In the countryside, it was common for neighbors to get into fights and storm each other’s homes. She had never heard of that being called “breaking into a private residence.”

Compared to the furious members of the Lin family, Lin Wan remained much calmer. Her fingertips were still lightly tracing Gu Zhixing’s palm. Feeling his already-relaxing body tense up again, she found it rather amusing and scratched his palm twice more. In response, Gu Zhixing tightened his grip, holding her mischievous hand firmly.

“Who said breaking into a private residence only applies to mansions? This courtyard may be small, but it’s still our private property. You barging in without permission is breaking and entering!”

At that moment, Lin Sheng couldn’t hold himself back anymore and ran out of the house. He had already wanted to come out earlier, but his brother-in-law had stopped him. Listening inside for so long, he couldn’t stand how shameless the Old Lin family was any longer.

Seeing Lin Sheng, Old Madam Wu immediately cursed, “You ungrateful brat! I’m your grandmother!”

“We’ve already severed ties. My only family is my sister!” Lin Sheng said, then added after a pause, “And my brother-in-law too!”

He already greatly admired Gu Zhixing’s talent. Seeing him step forward to protect Lin Wan and stand shoulder to shoulder with her against the Lin family made Lin Sheng recognize him even more as his brother-in-law.

Of course, even if he didn’t approve, it wouldn’t matter—the marriage certificate was already officially registered at the county office. They had even slept in the same room last night.

Old Madam Wu was so angry it felt like her head was about to explode. In the past, the siblings Lin Wan and Lin Sheng had been easy to control, but ever since Lin Wan bought a man home two days ago, everything had changed. Not only could they no longer be manipulated, but she had also suffered a huge loss. Now she had actually been outmaneuvered by that wretched girl!

“Miss Lin! I’ve brought the pig manure!”

A loud voice rang out—it was Tian Guihua. A strong stench drifted from the entrance of the courtyard as villagers quickly stepped aside. Tian Guihua walked in holding a large iron shovel piled high with fresh pig manure.

She pushed through the crowd and squeezed straight in. The shovel jolted as she moved, and a lump of manure fell right onto Lin Dahu’s shoe.

The smell instantly spread. The people standing nearby hurriedly backed away.

Lin Dahu’s anger flared. “Tian Guihua!”

Hearing him, Tian Guihua stopped and turned around—but as she turned, the shovel swung as well, accidentally bumping into Old Madam Wu on the other side. More manure slid off and splattered onto Old Madam Wu’s clothes, the stench even worse than before.

Tian Guihua exclaimed, “Aunt Lin, this shovel doesn’t have eyes! Why weren’t you more careful? My pig manure is all wasted now!”

Old Madam Wu’s face turned black with rage. She hadn’t even spoken yet, and Tian Guihua had already turned the tables.

Lin Wan couldn’t help but laugh at the scene. Lin Dali and the two daughters-in-law of the Old Lin family had already retreated far away, afraid of getting splattered next.

Tian Guihua walked smoothly into the courtyard. Lin Xiuniang was still crouching in front of Zhou Cheng, worried about his injuries. She had heard the commotion outside, but right now she didn’t care at all.

Zhou Cheng was her only son, spoiled since childhood. Seeing him injured, how could she not be distressed?

Just as she was worrying, a shovel of pig manure suddenly appeared in front of her face—the smell was so strong she almost vomited.

“What are you doing, Tian Guihua!” Lin Xiuniang staggered back a few steps. She had known Tian Guihua for many years; the two had disliked each other since childhood.

“I heard you say before that if I ever got married, you’d eat shit? Well, here it is.” Lin Wan smiled faintly, still holding Gu Zhixing’s hand as she stepped back a little.

The smell was overwhelming.

Tian Guihua obediently extended the shovel again and added, “Freshly made. Still warm. Hurry up and eat it.”

“Ugh—” Lin Xiuniang finally couldn’t hold it and bent over to vomit.

Lin Wan frowned in disgust. The once clean courtyard was now stained with filth.

“You!” Lin Xiuniang wiped her mouth and glared at Lin Wan. “I’m your aunt!”

“I’ve already severed ties with Old Madam Wu. What kind of aunt are you supposed to be?”

Lin Wan then said coldly, “Since you all came to cause trouble early in the morning, if you don’t give me a satisfactory explanation, I’ll report this to the authorities!”

“Breaking into a private residence and attempting to injure someone—I’m sure the county magistrate will give us justice,” Lin Sheng added.

“That’s right! So many villagers saw it—you can’t deny it!” Tian Guihua called out to the crowd.

The villagers, many of whom had suffered under the Old Lin family before, immediately chimed in.

“Yes! We all saw it! We can testify!”

With so many people speaking up, the Old Lin family was completely surrounded and stunned. Old Master Lin had once been a thousand-household commander in the army, and their family owned the most farmland in the village. They had always been untouchable.

Now… had all these villagers gone mad?
