Gu Hengzhi let out a cold laugh.

“So what exactly are you playing at now?”

“I just want to make up for him. If you think I’m playing tricks and don’t believe me, you can drive straight to the civil affairs bureau right now,” Su Wanqing said.Full novel: Transmigration: The Villainess in the Novel’s Healing Plan for the Villain — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

A knock came on the car window.

Gu Hengzhi rolled it down. Xu Yi bent slightly.

“President Gu, the young master has been picked up.”

“Bring him into the car. You can get off work.” Gu Hengzhi said darkly, opening the door and moving to the driver’s seat.

“Yes, President Gu. I’ll drive Miss Su’s car back,” Xu Yi replied.

“Sorry for the trouble, Assistant Xu,” Su Wanqing said.

Xu Yi quickly waved his hands. “No trouble at all, Miss Su.”

The Su family’s young lady really had changed her personality completely—before, she would barely even spare them a glance and always acted cold and superior.

Su Wanqing let out a small breath of relief as Shimu got into the car.

Inside the car

“Hungry?” Su Wanqing asked as she took off his small schoolbag.

Shimu nodded.

“Hold on a little longer. We’ll have dinner soon.”

Shimu stared at her, lips pressed together. “Didn’t you bring cake today?”

Su Wanqing paused slightly, then smiled.

“I was worried store-bought ones aren’t fresh and might upset your stomach. Tomorrow is a day off, right? I’ll bake cookies and make cake at home for you, okay?”

Shimu’s eyes lit up instantly.

“Okay!”

Su Wanqing took out her phone and, worried he might be bored, opened Detective Conan—a show he had watched before.

“Want to watch Conan?”

The little bun’s eyes brightened even more.

“Yes!”

Su Wanqing couldn’t help but pinch his soft cheek and handed him the phone.

At the destination

The car slowly pulled over.

Gu Hengzhi unfastened his seatbelt. “We’re here. Get out.”

Su Wanqing put her phone away and got out with Shimu.

Following Gu Hengzhi, they walked through a long corridor into an old, elegant villa.

Su Wanqing and Gu Hengzhi had only registered their marriage—they had never held a wedding and she had never even met most of the Gu family members. Even the meeting of both families had only taken place in a hotel.

The Gu residence was not as antique or grand as the Li family estate. It was more modern in style, but filled with antiques and famous paintings—like a miniature exhibition hall. There were so many pieces that it almost looked like an over-decorated collector’s house.

A servant came forward from a distance.

“Young Master, you’ve arrived.”

Seeing Su Wanqing and Shimu, she froze slightly.

“Mis… Young Madam?”

“What are you blocking the entrance for?” A deep voice came from inside.

The servant quickly stepped aside. “Young Master, Young Madam, Young Master… please come in.”

In the living room, several people looked at Su Wanqing with surprise.

This young lady frequently appeared in high-society events, yet as the Gu family’s daughter-in-law, she had never once appeared at their dinner table.

“Father,” Gu Hengzhi greeted simply.

“Mm.” The man seated at the head of the table responded indifferently.

“Father.” Su Wanqing also followed politely.

Even though Su Wanqing had not stepped into the Gu household for three or four years, no one dared say anything. The Su family, though not stronger than the Gu family, still had backing from the Li family. Moreover, in recent years, the Gu Corporation had suffered setbacks, and the Gu family’s own children were all scheming for shares.

So the entire family actually hoped that Su Wanqing and Gu Hengzhi’s marriage would collapse sooner.

They assumed Gu Hengzhi married Su Wanqing purely for her family power. In wealthy marriages, it was always about alliances. They never believed Gu Hengzhi had built anything himself—after all, only in recent years had his company Daybreak risen like a dark horse.

Little did they know, for Gu Hengzhi, this marriage was merely a bargaining chip to stabilize the Gu family.

And these people foolishly believed that once Su Wanqing and Gu Hengzhi divorced, he would “fall back to zero overnight.”

They seemed to have forgotten one thing—

Very few people even knew that Su Wanqing and Gu Hengzhi were married in the first place.
