“Alright, alright, got it.”

“Don’t drag your feet—I hope your account is ready tonight.”

Director Zheng gradually dropped the joking tone.

Jin Qiao felt a pang of guilt and could only keep agreeing before finally hanging up.

“Baby, in a few days, Mommy will take you out. Will you be scared? Actually, there’s nothing to worry about—there will be some other kids too, so you can play together.”

Yu Siyu lowered his little head to think.

Going out with Mommy made him happy. He didn’t need to play with other kids; being with Mommy was enough.

“But… when we go out with Mommy, maybe we’ll need Siyu to take care of Mommy too.”

Yu Siyu’s eyes lit up.

He could take care of Mommy too?

He would take such good care of Mommy! He was a little man—he had to protect Mommy! Mommy hadn’t said Daddy should take care of her; in her heart, he was surely more important than Daddy!

Just thinking that made Yu Siyu’s steps lively and joyful.

Jin Qiao didn’t understand why he was suddenly so happy, but she went along with him, quickening her own pace.

When they got home, Yu An was already back.

Yu Siyu looked pitifully at his father—he’d have to stay home alone.

So he ran over and hugged him, giving a symbolic comfort.

Yu An, confused, looked at Jin Qiao for some kind of answer, but her expression was just as unreadable as his.

Nothing to do—whatever.

Yu An lifted Yu Siyu and set him on a chair, then pulled out the chair next to him.

Jin Qiao saw him pull out her usual seat and thought he wanted to sit there to bond with their son.

She went around to sit across from them.

Before she could take a step, the man pulled her into the chair he had pulled out, while Yu An went and sat opposite her.

Something was off! Very off!

Jin Qiao felt like she was about to tear her hair out during this dinner.

Her mind raced through every possible scenario, comparing and eliminating them one by one.

Before going to bed, she couldn’t hold it in.

“Have you… been keeping something from me recently?”

Yu An raised an eyebrow.

“Do you… have someone you like?”

Seeing his expression change, Jin Qiao felt she had found the source of everything and hurried to speak.

“Don’t worry. Even though we share the same household registration, you have the complete right to pursue your true love. Did you have a fight? Does it have anything to do with me? I can help explain if needed.”

Yu An’s expression darkened. Hearing her talk nonstop, he could no longer restrain himself. He flipped over, pinning her, and kissed the spot he had long planned.

At first, it was gentle, testing the waters. The brushing of his lips left Jin Qiao caught off guard—her mind went blank, and she could only follow her body’s instincts.

Damn it… she was giving in. That was her last thought.

Seeing her not resist, Yu An’s heartbeat quickened. He pried her teeth lightly with his own lips, kissing deeply, savoring the treasure he had regained.

“Ha!”

Jin Qiao finally caught her breath. Angry, she lunged forward to pinch Yu An’s neck.

“You want to kill me or what? So cruel!”

Yu An grabbed her hand and pinned it, holding her down.

“Keep practicing—you’ll get used to it.”

He kissed her again, this time not gentle. The kiss was urgent, fierce, releasing all the frustration he’d kept inside.

“Forget me? I’ll kiss you to death.”

Jin Qiao couldn’t breathe properly. She pushed him away, moving back, wiping her mouth.

But when she looked into Yu An’s eyes, she froze. His eyes were red, filled with hurt and grievance.

Seeing him like that made her chest tighten, her breathing shallow and rapid.

What was happening? The original owner didn’t love Yu An, right? Then why did her heart hurt so much, like it might stop at any moment?

Jin Qiao felt something was off—she just hadn’t realized what yet.

“Uh… I…”

She wanted to say something to ease the tension, but Yu An’s eyes looked at her like she was a faithless villain. She didn’t know what to say, so she stayed silent.

Yu An, frustrated, felt his eyes sting. She wasn’t consoling him! Could his suspicion be wrong? No—she must have met another man and changed her heart!

The tension held for a while. Finally, Yu An turned over and lay down, ignoring Jin Qiao.

She awkwardly lay beside him, her mind a mess.

Neither of them slept well that night. Jin Qiao woke repeatedly, afraid she would fumble over Yu An in her sleep like an octopus.

The next morning,

Jin Qiao woke to find Yu An already up. She sat on the bed, dazed, replaying last night’s events, her cheeks slowly flushing.

It was unreal.

After washing up, Jin Qiao still didn’t leave the bedroom.

She paced at the door, muttering to herself.

“At this time, he should be at work. I probably won’t run into him… but what if I do? Do I say hi? How awkward! Forget it, just ignore him!”

She flung open the door.

Outside, Yu Siyu was raising his hand to knock.

Mother and son froze, staring at each other.

“Good morning, baby!”

Yu Siyu’s face lit up with a huge smile, like a little sun.

Jin Qiao’s mood instantly brightened. Of course—her son was her little sunshine.

Feeling better, she picked up Yu Siyu and went downstairs, finding Yu An had indeed left for work. She could finally eat breakfast in peace.

Only Wu Ma seemed hesitant, her face troubled as she looked at Jin Qiao.

She was the only one who knew how unpleasant Master Yu’s expression had been at breakfast. Surely, the young mistress and master hadn’t argued again, right? Or was Master Yu sulking?

Wu Ma was certain she knew the truth.

The phone on the table vibrated. Jin Qiao picked it up. Seeing the familiar name, her heart skipped a beat.

She’d forgotten!

“I’ll handle the account now.”

“Figured you’d forget. I just called this morning.” Director Zheng’s voice revealed he wasn’t surprised.

Jin Qiao quickly finished setting up the account, followed the official program account, and the production team promptly followed back.

After verification, her inbox began buzzing.

Jin Qiao found the messages amusing and replied to a few.

【Can you and your husband give me your blood? I want a baby like Siyu.】

—That’s… a little scary.

【Is this the same spicy mom who kicked someone away in one move?】

—Maybe… probably.

【Siyu is so cute! Mom, please post more pictures of him for us internet aunties to see!】

—Next time for sure.

The user who received her reply immediately responded.

【We want to see Siyu right now.】

Jin Qiao saw the reply and pretended to ignore it, playing dead.
