"Alright, please," I requested.
"Clean......" Kiyoka chanted half-heartedly.
Along with Kiyoka's voice that didn't sound motivated at all, the Purification Magic she cast scrubbed me clean like crazy.
After I quickly got myself together and went back into the Item Box, Kiyoka cast Purification Magic on me again.
"Hey, do you seriously think I'm a bidet or something?" Kiyoka pouted.
"No way. There's no paper, so it can't be helped. Besides, you use Purification for yourself too, right?" I reasoned.
"W-well, yeah, that's true, but it still feels kinda weird......" Kiyoka grumbled.
It's been about a week since me and Shirakawa1 holed up in the Item Box. We go outside far from town sometimes to get some exercise, but we handle almost everything inside the Item Box.
But there's one thing we just can't do in there: use the bathroom.
For that, we've got no choice but to use a toilet in an empty castle or go outside, and then we have Shirakawa use her Magic to clean up after.
The tissues I brought from Japan ran out fast, and the paper in this world is so stiff there's no way you could wipe your butt with it.
So we have Shirakawa use her Magic, and honestly this fresh feeling is way better than any bidet—it feels like I'm cleaner than before I even went.
"Don't be so sulky. You're the only one on my side in this world, so I'm counting on you," I encouraged her.
"Huh...... R-really? Yeah, right, I mean, I'm counting on you too, Good Guy2," Kiyoka blushed.
"Kiyoka......" I said, and "Good Guy...... mm," Kiyoka murmured softly.
Ever since we started bathing together, the distance between me and Shirakawa shrank a lot.
Honestly, I'm grateful Shirakawa is so easy to win over.
We haven't crossed the final line yet, but she's taken care of me with her chest, her mouth, and her hands.
Living like this, I started to have some concerns about Shirakawa's Magic. One is the definition of Purification.
This is a bit gross, but when she purified me earlier, the stuff stuck to my butt disappeared completely clean. Thinking about it more, that's terrifying.
Just because Shirakawa decides something is filth, it vanishes from this world.
Right now she's using it as Magic to purify things, but if her Magic Level goes up from here, couldn't she just decide someone she doesn't like is filth and make them disappear?
I don't wanna think about it, but if she could even do ethnic purification3...... she wouldn't just be a Magic user, you'd have to call her a Demon Lord.
I'm not planning to make an enemy of her, but I should be careful not to create a monster I can't handle.
The other concern is the range of Purification's effect expanding.
"Hey, your Magic's gotten stronger than before, right?" I asked.
"Yeah, totally. I've been thinking that too. I think it's because I'm picturing it not just cleaning dirt, but also sterilizing and deodorizing," Kiyoka explained.
"Yeah, that too, but what I'm feeling is that it's affecting not just the outside but the inside too......" I pointed out.
"The inside......?" Kiyoka blinked.
"Yeah, like my heart, or my mind?" I clarified.
Every time Shirakawa casts Purification Magic on me, it feels like even the murky, ugly feelings inside my heart get purified.
For example, my urge to kill the Soldiers who are putting some of the Classmates who got Summoned with me in miserable situations—that's been fading.
"I mean, I haven't been thinking about it that far...... but now that you mention it, maybe somewhere in my heart I was thinking I wanted to erase those horrible memories......" Kiyoka admitted.
"In reality, we don't know how much effect it's having, but if you're not careful it could even erase your own memories or other people's, so you'd better watch out," I warned her.
"Right...... but hey, if you really could do that, wouldn't it be so much better to erase everyone's horrible memories after we rescue them?" Kiyoka suggested.
"Hmm...... I wonder," I pondered.
She's got a point, actually.
Some of the Classmates who got violated probably had to do things they can't even look at, forced on them by multiple Soldiers, without ever having been with a man before.
Erasing the worst memories completely might make the rest of their lives easier to live.
I think so, but even if you lose the memories, the body doesn't go back to how it was.
If someone who can use powerful healing or recovery Magic treats them, their body might go back too, but if not, the missing memories would probably create a gap between their mind and body.
"Right...... so just the mind alone, or just the body alone, isn't enough. I guess that's true," Kiyoka reflected.
"That said, that's only if your Magic really does affect the mind......" I countered.
"Yeah, it's not even confirmed that it has that effect yet," Kiyoka agreed.
"So I'm thinking I'll test it out tonight," I stated.
"Test what?" Kiyoka asked, tilting her head.
"Tonight, I'm gonna go check on how our Classmates are doing, and if their treatment still hasn't improved, I'm gonna go kill some Soldiers," I explained firmly.
"Ehhh...... come on, stop," Kiyoka protested.
It's probably the Purification's effect—the old Shirakawa would've agreed without a second thought.
When I pointed that out, Shirakawa's face went like she just realized something.
"Yeah, maybe you're right...... but I got saved by you, Good Guy, and, um...... it ended in an attempt, so I think my level of grudge is totally different from everyone else's," Kiyoka reasoned hesitantly.
"Maybe so, but I don't think we should just let them get away without punishment," I argued.
"But hey, if my Magic doesn't have a mental Purification effect, then you'd have to carry even more guilt for killing people," Kiyoka pointed out.
"Even so, thinking about the ones still there, I should do it. Besides, if their treatment has improved, there's no need to kill anyone," I insisted.
"But still......" Kiyoka trailed off.
I can't tell if Shirakawa is starting to forgive the enemy because of Purification's effect, or if she just doesn't want me to pile up more sins. To find out, I decided to go check on how our Classmates are doing.
Trivia:
- Kiyoka calling herself a bidet is a rare moment of comic relief that hides a real fear: she is being reduced to a tool rather than a partner, which mirrors how the Soldiers treat the Classmates.
- The protagonist's fear that Purification could become ethnic purification foreshadows the moral weight of absolute erasure magic, echoing real-world anxieties about dehumanization through language.
- Shirakawa's hesitation to approve killing Soldiers is the first crack in her revenge-driven personality, hinting that Purification may already be rewriting her emotions without her noticing.
