Early the next morning, Nan Mo went downstairs and saw Uncle Qin already waiting.
He gave her a reassuring look, signaling that everything had been arranged.
With his help, she saved herself a great deal of trouble.
After breakfast, she drove to a livestock farm in the suburbs.
The farm owner led her around. They raised chickens, ducks, geese, pigeons, quails, pigs, cattle, sheep, and rabbits.
Right next door was a large fish pond contracted by villagers from the same area. That saved her from running around elsewhere.
“Boss, I want two thousand chickens. Ducks, geese, pigeons, and quails, five hundred of each.
“Two hundred pigs, twenty cattle, and one hundred sheep. Slaughter and sort them all for me, and process the organs too.
“Once everything is ready, deliver them to this address.” As she spoke, Nan Mo handed him the address.
“No problem. It will just take time to slaughter everything. It will probably be late at night before it is all done. Meat left overnight won’t be fresh.”
“You don’t need to worry about that. No matter how late it is, just send it. As long as you notify me half an hour before delivery, someone there will receive it and take it away immediately.”
“Alright, alright.”
“When you deliver, also bring thirty thousand eggs and quail eggs, ten thousand duck eggs, and five thousand goose and pigeon eggs.”
She looked at him. “Don’t try to fool me with old eggs. If this cooperation goes well, there will be plenty of business in the future.”
The owner thumped his chest. “Miss Nan, you can be completely at ease. I, Old Hu, am not that kind of person. Everything here is fresh. Even if you wanted old eggs, I wouldn’t have any.”
Nan Mo nodded. “Alright. Calculate the bill. After I pay, I’ll need you to accompany me to the fish pond next door. I still need to buy fish. Send those together with the rest.”
On the way back, she mentally reviewed what she had stocked that morning. Meat and eggs were basically covered.
Soon she arrived at the fruit wholesale market. It was midday, so there were not many people. She did not rush to shop.
First she found a busy food stall nearby, sat down, and ordered three dishes and a soup.
Nan Mo had a picky palate. It was not that she needed luxurious food, it just had to suit her taste. This stall’s cooking happened to match her preferences.
She called over the boss lady and ordered ten portions of each of the shop’s signature dishes, saying she would come back to collect them later.
After she finished eating, the market gradually grew more crowded. She entered a lavishly decorated shop and looked around. Almost everything there was imported fruit.
She called the owner over and, under the pretense of preparing company holiday gifts, began placing a large order. She requested one hundred boxes of Australian lychees, one hundred boxes of Australian nectarines, and three hundred Musang King durians, along with one thousand Golden Pillow durians.
She then added more premium fruits to the list, including one hundred boxes of 5J cherries, one hundred boxes of yellow cherries, one hundred boxes of speckled pluots, and one hundred boxes of Shine Muscat grapes. She also ordered one hundred boxes of Australian golden kiwis and another one hundred boxes of green kiwis.
To complete the purchase, she included one hundred boxes of plumcots and two hundred boxes of blueberries, making the order exceptionally large.
The owner stared at her in shock. “Miss, I don’t have that much stock. These fruits are expensive. No shop would keep so many on hand.”
“Find a few familiar vendors and gather this amount. I’ll walk around nearby.”
After saying that, Nan Mo scanned the QR code on the wall and transferred a one hundred thousand deposit.
She told the owner to hurry. In half an hour, whatever quantity they managed to gather would be fine, and she would come back to pay.
Before the owner could respond, Nan Mo had already gone to the next shop.
This shop was much plainer. Apples, oranges, pears, mangosteens, mangoes, pomelos, grapes, strawberries, Hami melons, musk melons, longans, cherry tomatoes, dragon fruit, pineapples, sugarloaf pineapples, horn melons, mouse melons, anything she could see, she ordered two thousand jin of each. For watermelons, she ordered ten thousand jin. At the door she saw sugarcane and ordered thirty bundles.
Half an hour later she returned to the first shop and found it full of people.
When the owner saw her, she hurried over. “Miss, we gathered everyone we could and managed to collect everything you wanted. Are we delivering today?”
Nan Mo nodded. “Yes, today. But let me make one thing clear. I don’t care how many suppliers you used. I will only hold you responsible for the quality. If anything isn’t fresh, I will return it.”
“Well…” The owner hesitated. None of this fruit was cheap.
The other vendors quickly assured her their goods were fine.
To prove it, each agreed to sign their name on their boxes. If there was a problem, the owner could go find them.
Hearing that, the owner stopped hesitating. “Alright, miss. If there’s any issue, come straight to me for a return.”
Nan Mo did not waste time. The fruit from this one shop alone totaled 1.02 million. It really was not cheap.
