When Nan Mo returned home, she discovered the chef had already finished preparing the day’s dishes. Six dishes and one soup were each packed into oversized insulated containers.
She opened one labeled Honey Glazed Braised Pork. Inside was a full bucket still steaming, clearly far more than the thirty portions she had requested.
She had the servants carry the six dishes and soup into the business van she had prepared for stockpiling over the past two days. The rear seats had been removed so it could hold plenty of goods.
Under cover of night, she stored the containers into her space and drove toward the nearest night market.
By the time she arrived, the sky was fully dark. A long street stretched endlessly ahead, lined on both sides with snack stalls, milk tea shops, and dessert stores.
She parked in a roadside lot and casually chose a shop, sitting down to order a bowl of shrimp and pork wontons.
After running around all day, she finished the large bowl in just a few bites.
“Boss, do you sell uncooked wontons? Do you have other flavors too?” Nan Mo asked, thinking that boiling wontons would be convenient when she had no time to cook.
“Yes. We have five kinds. Beef with scallions, shepherd’s purse and pork, plain pork, pickled cabbage pork, and shrimp pork.”
“I’ll take five hundred of each.”
After paying, she told him to take his time making them while she walked around.
At seven milk tea shops, she ordered fifty cups of each shop’s signature hot and cold drinks.
At six bakeries, she bought out all the fresh cakes and that day’s bread, then told the staff where her car was so they could deliver everything there.
Each time the car filled up, she drove around the block once and returned to load more.
After four or five trips, she finally finished loading everything, picked up the wontons, and left the night market.
She checked the time. The supermarket was still open, so she drove straight to a well known large scale store in the city.
She chose this place not only because it was big and well stocked, but also because it belonged to Chen Qi’s family.
Seeing there was still an hour before closing, she called Chen Qi and told him to come quickly.
By the time he arrived, her cart was already piled high with snacks.
“You called me here to carry bags for you?”
Nan Mo rolled her eyes. “What are you thinking? I’m here to clear out your inventory.”
“Do you even know how much inventory there is?” Chen Qi shot back, assuming she was joking.
“I remember your family owns more than one store like this, right? There’s one in the neighboring city too, isn’t there?”
Without waiting for his reaction, she continued,
“Arrange it. I’ll take what’s in my cart. After closing, have people count the inventory in all your branches and sell it all to me.
“Calculate the workers’ overtime separately. I’ll reimburse it.”
“You’re serious? What are you trying to do? Nan Mo, did something happen? Don’t scare me.”
Selling her shares and going abroad to relax had made sense to him. But what she was doing now was impossible to understand. He was genuinely starting to worry about her mental state.
“Don’t ask. I don’t want to make up excuses to lie to you. Just trust that I know what I’m doing.
“I promised you all I would live well, and I will keep that promise.”
Nan Mo spoke solemnly. Seeing how serious she was, Chen Qi ultimately said nothing.
He took out his phone, called the manager over, and instructed him to notify all branch managers in neighboring cities. They were to gather the inventory staff on duty and wait for instructions after closing.
“Tell me, what exactly do you want?”
“For five supermarkets like this, however much stock they would need, that’s how much you send me. Sell me the shelves too.
“For items that require freezing, send the freezers along with them. I have two empty warehouses in the logistics park, enough to store everything.
“After the goods arrive at my warehouse, help me find several warehouse managers to watch over them. They also need to organize everything according to your supermarket layout.
“All goods must be arranged neatly and clearly. I’ll transfer three hundred million to you first. We’ll settle the final amount later.”
After hearing her out, Chen Qi took a deep breath and held back the questions he wanted to ask.
Seeing his expression, Nan Mo felt no embarrassment at all and added, “Can you do it in a week?”
Chen Qi was nearly furious.
She would not tell him anything yet expected him to do all this work. Still, he did not dare throw a tantrum, afraid of delaying her plans. “Transfer the money!”
With that, he turned and left without waiting for her reply.
Nan Mo had no choice. She did not know when she might suddenly transmigrate, and this was the fastest method with the least chance of omissions.
When she arrived at the warehouse, she saw the first batch of goods from the farm had already arrived.
Xiao Huang, who had been told to work overtime on his very first day, was helping unload.
All the chickens, ducks, geese, and fish had been vacuum packed. The pork, beef, and lamb were sorted and packaged separately.
They unloaded for over five hours, during which more shipments from the farm kept arriving.
The ready made shelves had been delivered that afternoon and were already piled with the grains, oil, and vegetables Uncle Qin had arranged to purchase. The rest were stacked neatly beside them.
By the time the workers left, it was already past two in the morning.
After sending Xiao Huang off as well, Nan Mo used the remote to pull down the electric rolling doors on both the north and south sides, cut the power, and stored all the goods into her space.
By the time she returned home, washed up, and finished everything, it was almost four.
She slipped into the space, drank a cup of spirit spring water to wash away the day’s exhaustion, and finally felt alive again.
