Lukas held a bag in his right hand, and the umbrella in his left. He only used it as a walking stick though.
After all, the rain had stopped.
A silver wristwatch was on his right hand.
"A bunch of clothes, a wristwatch, a new phone, and a deposit into my account. I think I am done for today."
He flagged a taxi.
Compared to when he had just arrived, the city was now crowded.
People carrying different weapons moved through the blocks as if it were normal.
Corporate workers drove their luxurious cars in sharp bursts of speed.
Stall owners were already setting up their stalls in preparation for evening sales.
The taxi pulled over in front of Lukas. Unlike the previous taxi, which was an old vehicle, this one was a sleek black car that screamed luxury.
"Victory Hotel," Lukas said through the rearview mirror.
"That would be two thousand," the driver said after a bit of thought.
Lukas nodded and entered the backseat.
As for disguising himself as Tencent, it was pointless. Why would anyone from the city fear a local hero like Tencent?
The car moved with a soft hum that actually made Lukas’s body ease slightly.
He had been in this strange new world for just a little over six hours, but a lot of things had changed since then.
’Why is my memory of Earth starting to blur?’ he wondered with furrowed brows.
But the system did not respond to him.
Lukas did not think too much about it.
He rested his elbow on the window while looking at the busy street.
Within a few minutes, he was back at the hotel.
After completing the card payment, Lukas stepped out of the car, carrying his bag and umbrella with him.
"Welcome, sir," the receptionist greeted him as he passed their desk.
He nodded in response.
Lukas suddenly stopped in his tracks, causing the receptionists to turn to him.
But he continued walking almost immediately.
’There should be a way to contact the kitchen in the room,’ he mused as he walked into the elevator.
He twisted his arm to check the time.
’5:02 pm.’
Time moved in a blur. Lukas stood in his room, the sweet lavender smell filling his nose.
He dropped the umbrella at the same spot as before and placed the bag on his bed.
"Stressful day indeed," he said with a smile.
Without lingering for long, he walked into the bathroom.
The sound of water hitting the tiles reverberated through the room loudly.
Then, Lukas’s calm voice followed, singing music from his previous world.
A song that had been the theme for one of his favorite anime.
The loud noise was reduced to a hum as he neared the end of his bath. The water stopped rushing soon after.
With a towel wrapped tightly around his waist, Lukas stepped out.
Mist coiled behind him, and a sweet vanilla fragrance drifted off his body.
His body was almost laughable. A physique not worth mentioning in a world filled with superhumans.
But compared to what he had as Perry, it was good.
"Seems like being a god comes with its own benefits," he muttered, pulling a pyjama from the bag he had brought in.
It was a plain white robe that stopped over his knee. He knotted the waist tie to hold it firmly before he finally dropped his hand.
He rummaged through the bag, pulling out everything he had bought that day.
First were the clothes. Suits of different colors.
He bought a complete set of about ten suits.
With a smile, he packed all of them and arranged them in the wardrobe.
Then, three overall matte black coats that he hung in the same wardrobe.
A few casual clothes were added to the mix, but nothing much.
The rest was a book, a phone still packed in its carton, and some miscellaneous things.
He picked the book and dropped it on the table. The intercom was lying on the table, just beside where he had placed the book.
Without thinking much about it, Lukas dialed the kitchen’s number, following the number guide beneath the device.
"Good day, sir, how may I help you?" The calm and soothing voice came from the other side.
Lukas nodded to himself. "A bowl of noodles, one bottle of water, and gum."
The voice on the other side went silent for a while, as if trying to process Lukas’s order.
"Hello?" Lukas said, pulling the phone out of his ear to look at it.
"I am sorry sir," the lady quickly said. "Please, give us 30 minutes to prepare your food."
"Okay."
Lukas returned the phone to its main body and walked back to the bed.
"Can’t think straight without gum," he muttered to himself.
As he sat down, he began unboxing his phone. "Latest model my foot, how would it cost me two million?" Lukas groaned
He spoke as if a gun had been placed on his head to force him into buying the phone.
Soon, it was out of its box. The sleek, navy blue, slender, light device.
"My baby," Lukas said, carrying the phone with both palms.
But he stopped the theatrics almost instantly and switched the phone on.
A large V appeared on the dark screen. Within five seconds, the phone had booted.
It was relatively empty without too many apps, just the few needed on any phone.
Lukas did not bother with it though. He went to the App Store, about to download his bank app, and a few things he felt he might need.
"I should check online for houses for rent too."
At the thought of spending money, his heart tightened. He had spent over five million in a single day.
Now he was about to rent an apartment in one of the most expensive places on the planet.
"The future me would deal with all of these," he sighed, looking at another item he had bought.
