Black blood sprayed into the air as the bullet pierced through the tiny pupils in the creature’s body.

For a moment, there was only silence.

But even that was soon shattered by the loud crashing sound of something.Full novel: Trickster God In Another World — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

"Crazy skill," Lukas said, shaking his head slowly.

Looking down at the creature, Lukas heaved.

He had already activated his mask of deceit. His body had now been transformed into Tencent’s.

"You have passed the verification exam," the voice came from behind, startling Lukas.

But he regained his cool almost immediately. Turning towards Raymond, all Lukas did was give a dangerous glance.

"You were complaining about receiving a normal gun, against a mere fallen rank voidborn."

As if he was finally ready to address everything Lukas had done during the fight, Raymond spoke with a calm indifference.

At the same time, Lukas reverted to his own face.

"Do you expect me to give you a gun that would let you kill the voidborn without any difficulty?"?"

Raymond raised a brow in confusion at Lukas’s unreasonable thoughts.

Lukas sighed. He did not have the energy to banter with Raymond.

From head to toe, he was drenched in blood. His breaths were shaky and ragged.

There was silence in the room for a while before Raymond spoke again.

"That Voidborn you fought was from the Nightmare brood. Its ability is Face Lock."

Raymond paused for a while. "I don’t know how you figured it out since no one should be able to figure it out on their first battle with it, but the ability lets..."

"Let it lock onto the face of a target and track or create illusions in the target’s mind."

Raymond sighed as Lukas completed his explanation. "Yes."

"I am guessing it takes time to lock onto a target too."

Again, Raymond nodded.

"Wash up in the back room. You can also take a suit there," Raymond said, pointing towards a door on a corner of the room. "Once you’re done, meet me in my office."

Before Lukas could speak further, Raymond vanished.

Lukas’s brows twitched slightly. "Where is your office?" Lukas asked into thin air, almost sarcastically.

Then he sneered. "How would I reach his office if I don’t know where it is?"

As he spoke, he walked towards the washroom in question.

A refreshing lavender fragrance hit his face as he opened the door.

The bathroom itself was painted in light blue with touches of black and white.

It was pretty small, only large enough to fit a jacuzzi in a corner. Another door was in the wall just beside the entrance.

Lukas stripped naked and entered the warm water.

The clear water began to change color till it had changed into crimson.

Lukas drained that water and refilled it.

The cycle went on for close to twenty minutes before Lukas left the water.

Without pause, he ran into the second room, which he suspected to be the closet.

"Finally," Lukas muttered, dusting his black blazer as he stepped out of his room.

"Luckilu, none of my gadgets broke," he muttered.

His legs moved fast towards the door.

But the system’s chime stopped him.

[You have failed the quest.]

Lukas sighed. "He had expected this situation, after all, he had done poorly in the fight.

[As the God of Trickery, you should not charge blindly into a fight.]

Lukas shrugged. ’I am satisfied with surviving,’ he mused to himself.

The elevator’s doors slid open and he entered. Weirdly, there was someone inside the place already.

A lady dressed in a tight-fitting blue shirt, with a tight short black skirt that barely reached her knees. Her attire accentuated her feminine features elaborately.

She smelt like roses. Her long, silky black hair reached her waist and blended perfectly with her brown irises and long black lashes.

"Director Raymond is waiting at his office," the lady said, not bothering to turn to Lukas.

Lukas nodded, quickly understanding her purpose.

Her fingers danced on the elevator’s buttons for a moment before it started moving again.

But as it moved, he could not help but wonder what the lady meant by the director. It already sounded like something or high influence even without exposition.

’I wonder how high though,’ Lukas thought.

Ding!

The elevator’s mechanical ring brought him out of his thoughts.

With a single tap, the doors opened, revealing the glass room.

It was a vast room that was almost comparable to the hall where Lukas had done his verification.

A large statue stood by the side of the elevator. It was made from gold and diamonds, and its image was none other than Raymond.

Several murals were hung on wooden shelves, showcasing the vast collection of the owner of this office.

At the far end was a large obsidian desk and behind the desk was a large, black, throne-like chair.

Raymond sat on it with a calm, straight face that seemed like they wanted to pierce through Lukas’s soul.

"Come in," Raymond said, signaling with his two fingers.

Lukas nodded, calm returning to his face as he began pushing forward.

The elevator shut against the lady, leaving just Lukas and Raymond in the office.

"This is your awakened ID card," Raymond said, sliding the white plastic card through the table.

Lukas stopped it with his index finger and picked it up.

It contained his name, alongside his patron god name, the one he had made up.

In the place where his pantheon was meant to be, there was a dash.

As for his rank, the first rank, Servant was what was there.

’Everything here is fake, aside from my name,’ Lukas thought with a quiet smirk. One that failed to elude Raymond. But he looked past it.

"You can also see that you are a special case, an unknown god from no pantheon."

Lukas nodded with squinted eyes. "So?"

"So, I had to speak with the chairman of the association so we could discuss you."

’I hate where this is going,’ Lukas thought.
