“…Mike.”

“What is it, Rosalie?”

Mike cast an inquiring look at Rosalie Hale, who had spoken up.Full novel: Twilight: Rise of the Main God — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Rosalie smiled at Mike and said, “You still don’t consider us family.”

Mike laughed.

“How could that be?”

Alice Cullen gently tugged at Mike’s sleeve and whispered, “Darling, when you jumped directly from the building into the forest, they already saw you.”

Mike blinked at Alice.

Had he been discovered?

Mike looked at the blonde-haired Rosalie, who was swinging her baseball bat with a playful, enigmatic expression.

She smiled and said, “Come on, let’s see if Alice’s taste is good or bad.”

Mike glanced at Alice.

Alice looked at Mike with a smile.

Mike finally shook his head helplessly and said to Rosalie, “Alright, but can I watch a round first?”

Rosalie nodded with a smile.

Just participating was enough.

She would show him their strength later and see if he still dared to make them call him brother.

Alice and Mike shared a kiss before she ran toward the field.

Her cool lips lingered against his for a brief, deliberate moment, soft and teasing, before she pulled away with a small smile and darted onto the diamond.

Very quickly, the players took their positions.

Edward Cullen guarded left field, Carlisle Cullen stood between first and second base, and Alice held the ball, standing on a small mound that resembled a pitcher’s plate.

Emmett Cullen was warming up over there, executing a set of Muay Thai moves with impressive force.

Rosalie was twirling her baseball bat.

It whistled through the air, making it almost impossible to track its trajectory.

“Positions!”

Esme Cullen, who was acting as an umpire with Bella Swan, shouted in a crisp voice.

The voice wasn’t loud, but even if it were quieter, Edward, who was furthest away, would still be able to hear it.

Boom!

Standing on the pitcher’s mound, Alice glanced at the silver lightning crackling in the sky and smiled.

“It’s time.”

The next second, Alice struck a cool, dashing pose and pitched the baseball in her hand.

The baseball began to spin at high speed instantly.

Boom!

In an instant, the sound of the bat making contact with the ball erupted, as harsh and deafening as the thunder that had just cracked in the sky.

The sound of the impact was like a landslide, rumbling loudly.

The ball streaked across the sky like a meteor, landing far away in the surrounding dense forest.

Standing outside the field, Mike watched the baseball disappear from sight in a split second.

Seeing the ghost-like speed at which Rosalie dashed into the woods and ran around the field, he couldn’t help but sigh in his heart.

This speed made Mike realize one thing: during their game of tag yesterday, Alice had deliberately gone easy on him.

Bella, who had been invited to act as an umpire, saw this and whispered to Esme, “That’s a home run, right?”

Esme shook her head slightly and said, “Edward is very fast.”

Bella was slightly stunned.

She suddenly looked at Edward’s original position and realized for the first time that he was no longer there.

Shortly after, watching the ball being hurled back out of the woods, Bella intercepted Rosalie, who was sliding in to return to home plate, and clenched her right fist.

“You’re out.”

Rosalie stood up with a serious expression and looked at Bella.

Bella lowered her head, flashing the innocent smile that had captivated Edward so deeply.

In the distance, Emmett spread his hands, looking at Rosalie, who seemed ready to start a brawl, and said helplessly, “Babe, don’t be like that. It’s just a game.”

Seeing this, Mike discussed with Alice, who had returned to his side after swinging the bat.

“Darling, I’m going to be on a team with Rosalie later. You won’t mind, will you?”

It’s just a game.

The most important thing is having fun.

Winning or losing is secondary.

But if there’s a player on the field who values winning more than having fun, Mike felt it was necessary to be on the same side as that person.

The reason is simple.

If you aren’t on her team and you win, she will be very unhappy, and the hard-earned goodwill might just vanish.

But if you are on her team and you win, she is happy, and the others who value fun over winning won’t be upset either.

This is a very simple multiple-choice question.

As long as it’s a multiple-choice question, Mike felt he could always find the correct answer.

However…

Before Mike could take his turn, Alice, who was in the field preparing to swing again, suddenly paused and began breathing heavily.

Outside the field, Mike’s nose twitched.

The next second, he looked toward the fog-covered forest.

He smelled a stench.

A very foul smell.

A trio of wandering vampires?

Including Alice, they instantly locked eyes, communicating silently about something.

Clang!

Mike looked down at the blade extending from his right hand with a single thought, his furrowed brows not relaxing even a little.

Bella didn’t understand why the game they were playing so well had suddenly stopped.

“What’s wrong?”

The next second, Bella only felt a blur before her eyes.

The Cullen family, who had been on the field, appeared by her side in an instant.

Alice spoke up.

“They were about to leave, but then they heard the noise of our game and changed their route.”

Six pairs of eyes instantly landed on Mike, but soon, they shifted away from Mike and fell onto the bewildered Bella.

Bella blinked, not quite understanding what they were talking about.

Edward walked directly to Bella’s side, wanting to take her hand and leave.

Carlisle said directly, “It’s too late. They’re already here.”

Edward pursed his lips, took a deep breath with an incredibly serious expression, looked at the puzzled Bella, and said in a low voice, “Let your hair down.”

Rosalie said from the side, “Is that useful? I could smell her scent from the other side of the field, and besides, we have two of them here.”

Mike gave a “hi” to Rosalie.

Rosalie turned and made an apologetic gesture toward Mike, then turned back to Edward and said, “Prepare to fight.”

Alice also walked to Mike’s side.

However, before Alice could say anything, with a clang, Mike raised his three-meter-long blade and said with a playful, enigmatic expression, “Should I reshape it into a cross?”

Alice blinked as she watched this, her worry diminishing slightly.

She then rolled her eyes at Mike and said, “We aren’t afraid of sunlight, so why would you think we’re afraid of God?”

Mike shrugged.

How would he know?

Just like mice are afraid of cats, shouldn’t vampires being afraid of God be a well-known unwritten rule?
